I've finally ordered myself the Seiko Sarb033 or as it's also affectionately known, the Baby Grand Seiko'. I've been after one for quite some time and felt I deserved an Xmas present from myself after a hard couple of months finishing work projects. It'll look nice on my wrist in the boardroom too lol.

I should get it the first week of January, I can't wait :)

Well, then, you should wish yourself either a belated Happy Christmas or a very Happy New Year. Enjoy the watch, that is a very nice present. Above all, enjoy the experience of wearing it.

Got some cheap extension tubes for my camera today so grabbed the nearest watch to hand and took some quick snaps. Not great as I only had ten minutes but thought I'd share.

Not crazy about any of them, to be honest. Watches are like glasses - you wear them a lot, therefore, it pays to have put the time and research in to working out what you really like and what might suit you.

Cast your net a little wider, would be my advice, and come back to us with what you have found.

I can't afford £25k for the real thing so why not indulge my love of the original.

Ah, yes. Well, I think yesterday (or some other recent day) saw me drooling over a picture of that particular model of the 'real thing'. And yes, beautiful. And horribly desirable.

Enjoy your Chinese act of homage to a timepiece that is a true work of art.

Homages don't offend me, you would only hear me tutting if you (and Bagelsport) were trying to pass it off as a genuine PP.

The original really is a work of art isn't it. My all time favourite timepiece. I know that it's sacrilege to own an homage, but i'm never going to be able to afford the real thing and I wanted to get a flavour of what it would be like to own one.

I'll go back to drooling over pictures of the Lange Datograph Flyback now. Man alive is that a pretty watch - especially the movement.

I would never go that far. I'd only be fooling myself with a blatant replica and where's the fun in that?

Actually, oddly enough until yesterday, (I was trawling the excellent 'watchestobuy.com' site - they'll also come up under Vintage Watches For Sale) I had never ever even so much as seen this model. My taste in PP had been confined to the Calatrava models - which I love, but yesterday, yes, I spotted one of these, the Nautilus. And am not ashamed to admit that I swooned, and drooled and admired unattainable beauty and true art from a discreet distance.

Yes, @MacRy, it - the original - is absolutely gorgeous. Sublime. I agree. Beauty - and art and flawless function - beyond desire.

Enjoy your homage. As @OllyW says, no shame in paying homage, as long as it is not passed off as the real thing.

Great read. I read it when it was first posted here. Other than Hodinkee and Crown & Buckle who if anyone would you recommend for a leather strap.
I would recommend a trip down to your local watch repair shop, they usually have at least 3 kinds of leather straps to try on, and immediacy is a nice thing to have when choosing a watch accessory.

Is it a quartz watch? Where did you got it?

Bought this Hamilton Khaki pilot about half a year ago, and after a few months of wrist time, I noticed the inner bezel numbers are off (about half a minute, e.g., 2-4 degrees) from the printed numerals.

It kinds of irk me now. Although I still love the watch, it's kind of disappointing. :(

Why don't you adjust it to the correct position using the second crown?

A quartz?! How dare you! ;)

It's an auto that I got from a seller on AliExpress (no I'd never heard of it either).

I think I didn't make myself clear: I'm not that stupid.

Let me rephrase that: What I mean is, it's off by half a minute, either the "00" aligns with the 12 o'clock and the "30" is 3 degrees off to the right of the 6 o'clock, or the "30" aligns perfectly with the 6 o'clock and the "00" sits halfway to the first minute. That's what disappoints me.

BTW: thank you for combining those replies, I didn’t knew how to do it myself.

Sorry, I didn't get that from your first post. I would return it and ask them to fix it, it's not a cheap watch so the bezel should line up at all positions.

Well I fancied a 'smart' watch so that is exactly what I bought.

It's a small watch but suits my wrist perfectly. Certainly gives the feel of a watch several times its price due to its such high quality. It'll go nicely with a shirt or I would say casually too. I love it :)

To be honest, I don't think that it is all that small on your wrist; the fashion for huge watches presupposes that everyone has the wrist to wear such an object and not everyone does.

Anyway, it is lovely and long may you enjoy it and enjoy wearing it.

Why not go all out for a nice looking replica at this point. You already went 95% of the way. So long as it's all in good taste. Steel Bagelsport sounds very Chinese indeed ha!

I've seen those watches on eBay for about 50 quid and they seem to be OK for the money. They look like the real thing from a distance but fall short of being a fake with their own branding. I suppose they are technically a homage so it's all cool. :)

Another to look at is a Korean brand 'Tisell'. They do a good sub homage with a ceramic bezel for about 150 quid. Close up they have a large font so again they fall short of being a replica/fake. Nice quality for the money.

I think the most ridiculous thing is Rolex replicating their classic designs under their more "affordable" brand, Tudor. I personally wouldn't wear a cheaply made $50 clone just because it's emulating a known brand name. I still care about quality and less about showing off something I know isn't authentic in the first place. Replacing the logo with a different one is just as bad as going all out and actually cloning the entire thing to the highest affordable standards.
