Yes, the BLNR gets most of my wrist time.

I agree that the Sistem51 won't see much wrist time compared to my G-Shock Rangeman, but I wanted to get my hands on one just to have. It's a really cool watch for what it is.

Yeah after writing that post I actually put my name down for them to call me when they get their shipment in next week.

Contemplating on just selling the G shock as the only thing I use it for is cycling. Im sure the swatch can hold up to biking around. The only thing holding me back is those "what if" situations like. What if I go on a 1 week camping trip (never did) or go rock climbing (never did) and need a durable watch.

Its just those what if questions.

----------

My life would have to have a spectacular upturn to enable that to happen my friend :) I do plan on getting myself a lightly used Datejust for my 50th birthday though so only eight year of savings to wait until then.

Great choice! I think datejusts and extremely classy pieces. Would prefer them over the explorer tbh. I think a date is extremely important.

I say that with my watch being a no date but thats because manufactures feel they need to charge 1500 just for the data feature.

Know we talked a bit about the Mont Blanc, but which of these would you pick and why (yea yea not a Breitling or a Rolex or a Panerai or a Pathek but whatever):

Victorinox Alliance Mechanical:

Automatic, $795:

My first "real" watch was the Victorinox Alliance Chronograph which I got for my 18th birthday. It's been my daily driver for three years and it's been nothing other than superb. I really like the weight of it as well. I highly recommend it. :)

Here's my 2012 model.

I get what you're saying and I agree in some respects. To me though, a fake or replica will exhibit the same writing and branding as the original and make no attempt to honour the original design in any way in regards to manufacturing standards. I realise that is just me saying that if it is a cheap piece of crap then it's not ok but if it is an expensive and well made copy then it's ok. That matters somehow to me. My Zeno has a decent ETA movement in it and is from a reputable company so does that make it any worse than another Submariner clone from the likes of Oris, Omega or Blancpain? Is it ok that the AP Royal Oak and Patek Nautilus are so similar just because they are high end manufacturers?Of course they have subtle differences which make them all different enough to not be straight copies like my Zeno is when you come down to it.

The reasoning behind my purchase of the Zeno was that I love the Rolex Explorer design but will never be able to afford one so I looked for something in the same style.

I've kind of argued your point for you haven't I. I'll shut up now because I'm clearly and idiot :)

RO and Nautilus were designed by the same designer (genta) within a span of 2 (or around 2) years.
RO, Nautlius, and many derivatives that came after within and outside of PP and AP are all inspired by portholes on a ship.

Mr. Biver has given a great interview on Hodinkee on this.

But anyway don't give up on the Rolex Explorer.
I'm sure you will get it one day! :D

Regarding the submariner, I'm not sure if it came before the Blancpain.
But certainly there are many Submariner homages that come from reputable brands because the Submariner has a rather simple but iconic design.
Do I see a problem with this?
Kind of. Well, enough to know that I would rather buy a Submariner than all the other derivative watches.

In the case of Nautilus, it's different enough for me.

I watched that interview with Mr Biver yesterday actually. What a collection he has! Must be in the millions. So many nice Pateks. I love the fact that he collected them because they were his rival.

Got this one

Just recently got my hands on the new citizen ecodrive world time watch:

It has replaced the previous Tissot perpetual calendar as my daily driver!

Who's got a nice watch?

I thought you just took a google image and was making a joke. Then I ebay searched "Flying Tourbillon." I had no idea a tourbillon could be so aggressively priced. How is it? And how much if you don't mind me asking?

I bought mine about seven years ago I think and it cost me £500 then. They go for similar prices now I think. It's been really reliable, is quite nicely made, keeps great time. I have no complaints considering it's a genuine flying Tourbillon that I could actually afford without selling an internal organ or family member to fund it.

The British Horological Society used the same Liaoning movement as in mine for their 150th anniversary watch.

I'm a big Omega fan but I have always liked this Rolex (one of the few models they make that I find attractive) so I went ahead and picked it up recently for a decent deal.

Who's got a nice watch?

I wanted a cheap automatic watch I could use as a beater/daily driver.

Good choice. I've got an SNK809 as well and it's a great little watch. I hated the original nylon strap though as it really irritated my wrist so I bought a cheap bracelet for it and it's really comfortable now and looks great on it.
