bc it's illegal lol.
also fakewatchbusta and many people can tell that you're wearing fake junk.
But of course real APs are awesome.
Sweet first time I heard of FWB. Guess I better start saving for that genuine watch

Oh I misread your first question and thought u might have been thinking about fakes but I guess I read your mind with the wrong premise.
APs are both historical and avant garde at the moment.
They have the premier (10-50k) sport watch segment cornered along with some high end Rolexes.
Hublot doesn't have the history but they are still highly sought after by younger crowds.
But you might not be wearing that Big Bang when you are 55.
Not a fan of Hublot myself, they look far too chunky for my tastes. I also hate fakes. If anyone can't afford the genuine watch, consider a tasteful homage that is clear what it is. If a watch is branded to look like something it is not, it's just fraud IMO. I fancied a Rolex Milsub 5517 but couldn't quite part with £110,000 they fetch at Christies, so settled for the Steinhart OVM. It looks like it but is obviously not a Rolex at the same time.
I'm a young guy with taste for simple. I first saw the AP Royal Oak thinking it was out of my range. Figured I'd check out the price of a Hublot Big Bang which is inspired by the RO hoping for a better price only to find that used AP's can go for less than a used Hublot.

There are preloved RO's (14790), which can be purchased for as little as $5500.
However, the thing with high-end watches like APs and Pateks is that they can cost a lot to service.
I've seen bills ranging from $1000 for routine services up to $7000 for complicated vintage watches and restoration of damaged watches can cost a lot more than that.
So if you are young and cannot afford these types of watches, it's probably better to wait until you really can afford them.
Indeed I am. When I swag on into a room, people know who has arrived!well you are the "the-real-deal82" after all, not the fake deal82 lol
Yeah I think if I owned the original Milsub, I would be afraid to wear it so on that basis I would get more enjoyment out of this one lol.I couldn't agree more. Both beautiful watches. I prefer the hommage probably due to the price.

In my experience watches don't get a lot of attention with the general population. A friend of mine has a Rolex Sub and to be honest nobody notices. I think you have to be into watches to appreciate it. Its nice to get a compliment on the watch you are wearing though and when it happens you know the person has an interest.
I don't think I would ever spend over £1000 on a watch though as I couldn't justify it. I'd rather have numerous watches to wear at different times than blow it all on one watch. With a young family I can't prioritise a few grand on a wrist watch, although if anybody wants to donate a nice Rolex to me I won't turn it down.
On that note would you have any recommendations for a reliable and affordable watch with a metal band? I would also like it to be waterproof at 10 ATM or better.
Christopher Ward and Steinhart have nice Swiss made diving watches which don't break the bank.
I would recommend Steinhart, Squale, Christopher Ward, Seiko SKX007, all good quality watches for the price.

Never owned a nice watch or watch in general. I got my self this from jcrew as a starting college present. It can be used for anything. And the straps are changeable and only cost 20$ each.
$98 well spent.
Is that a Timex Weekender? Looks good.
For anyone wanting a dive watch, but not a Sub, I think the slickest option is a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe. http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/blancpain-fifty-fathoms-review
well we know what does NOT qualify as a nice watch - the Apple Watch.
I think it's probably a nice watch but I don't consider it jewelry (the Swiss have nothing to worry about). I'm also not interested in charging my watch every day (my current watch goes about 1-2 years on a battery)
Hmm yeah I don't know how bad the battery life will be.
But honestly it's just a disappointing design.
First time poster in this thread as first watch I've ever owned!
Never been a big watch person, but it was my 21st so my rents got me a watch.
I. Love. It.

I've been carrying this one for a few days. This one was made by the Peoria Watch Company of Peoria, Ill, and fitted with a non-magnetic balance and hairspring by the Non-Magnetic Watch Company. As can be seen, it carries private label markings for the Non-Magnetic Watch Company of America.

I don't find the design disappointing except the fact that you need to use it with an iPhone. What I find disappointing is how it looks.
