I would think one would tear their hair out from trying to use Dex.;)

Of course it would be too complicated for one who is imprisoned in apple restrictive environment...but to the rest of us it is as easy as plugging the cable :p

I have used both off and on but primarily iOS. Till this year.

I switched to a Razer primarily due to iOS 11. Later I was able to test an X and 8+ alongside the Razer and still walked away with the Razer. To this day, I find it faster and superior to the 7+ I left and the 8+ and X I tested. I have write-ups on all this in my signature (Razer) and a link to the 3 way test in there.

Since then, I have kept and use my IPP 12.9 G2. I am now on my 3rd one (poor quality) and still dislike iOS 11 even at the 11.4.1 stage. As I have yet to find a decent Android tablet, I am hoping iOS 12 is an improvement. Hoping.

To get me back to an iOS phone, Apple really needs to hit a home run with iOS 12 in the terms of performance, smoothness, and battery life. Here is to hoping however reading about iOS 12 here, I am losing hope.

I've never owned an android device but I haven't heard of any features that would persuade me to switch. I like that they're constantly putting out updates.

Now with Note9, we could just plug the phone in using a hdmi-usbc cable to the monitor and we have Dex function. Very nice.

Go tear your hairs out, iPhone fans hehe :)

Same with the S8-S9. Just need a USB-C Hub. I just tested it on my s9 plus and was able to get DEX to fire up on my monitor. Never used it before, but was impressed with it.

Brilliant! Please show us how that makes your life better. Thanks.

I am taking my S9+ work phone if my Note 9 doesn't come in by my trip on the 25th, and will use the DEX to do my personal reading/browsing of the web. I'm taking a microsoft wireless keyboard/mouse combo with me, and the USB-C hub with hdmi cable and will hook it up to the TV in my Hotel room and use that while I am there. I have a work laptop, but it is not for personal use. Instead of hauling two laptops, this will come in handy and makes my life better.

If only bigger screen is what you need for basic work you could just hook up an iPhone via HDMI cable and use a wireless keyboard to achieve the same. I fail to see the big deal about being able to connect your device with a screen and it’s a really niche use case to begin with.

Dex isn’t really practical in real life laptop or tablet alternative.

Carrying a keyboard mouse and monitor with you isn’t very practical and offers fewer benefits vs a laptop or tablet.

Huh? Why would I do that? :p
Monitor/TV has multiple HDMI input so I just plug into an empty port to use.

Why would you have a monitor without a pc?

If you had a Pc why would you need to hook up your phone to monitor?

Don’t really know anyone that hooks up their iPhone or computer to a tv to do anything but consume media.

Tvs aren’t really practical to use with a computer.

Don’t you also need to carry around a keyboard and mouse or are you going to sit in front of the tv and use the device.

What’s the point?

I think (visually) iOS had more character when Steve Jobs was alive and in-charge. Now it looks very similar to android with some soul sucked out of it. I just always have that feeling like something is missing and I can quite put my finger on it.

For me Safari is a buggy, despite its supposed memory leaks and that the phones RAM limits how many tabs you can have open, plus the obtusely annoying habit of reloading webpages for no reason every time you go back into them..

Safari is still the best mobile browsing experience I’ve had, and that includes the five Android devices I’ve had.
Plus I like the less cluttered look if iOS and that it’s boring, because it’s then easy to use.

iOS 11 has rrreeeaaaalllllyyyyyyy tested my patience with the iPhone and especially my iPad Pro, but I am still sticking with iOS.
Oh and I find iOS apps to work better and smoother. I also had a Note 5 but wasn’t able to setup the home screen how I wanted as some widgets wouldn’t adjust to the resolution correctly.

Another thing with iOS is that the new versions work on older phones for a long time.

I would of also added iMessage but other iPhone users I text seem to insist on using WattsApp, which is just infuriating as I much prefer iMessage, and it’s also not owned by Zuckerberg...

I’ve given an ultimatum to my friends. Either use iMessage or don’t bother. Then I deleted WhatsApp.
I never even used WhatsApp, as soon as it wanted access to my data/contacts, I deleted it and told my friends using Android to use either SMS or email to contact me.

I tried that but nooo they still use WattsApp..
Pain in the you know what.. I think once it starts getting adverts as is rumoured it’ll be fine and forgotten, it’ll be use iMessage or nothing!

I already made the move. I’ve given an option to the Android using friends. Signal.

I prefer it because the Android apps still have the hobbyist, unpolished feel over the iOS counterparts.
