The more I use it, the more I like it. With a few exceptions, I’ve used my bigger iPads more like laptops for years, particularly since the Magic Keyboard. Using the Mini reminds me of early iPad days when I used it 99% in portrait unless I was watching video.

I came here to read some positive comments about the mini 6…
I’m hoping to pick one up in the next few days, cellular and probably 64GB to go along with my 2018 12.9” iPad Pro although I’m actually looking for the mini to largely replace my iPhone 12 Pro Max for most of my casual use leaving the bigger iPad and a 13 mini for their respective work and pocketable communicator if you will.
Anyone else taken this route? Genuinely interested if it something that’s gonna work medium/long term given how much I’ve loved the 12 Pro Max which has probably been my favourite phone since the 4S.

Of course not everyone will notice it or care, it is all very subjective. But it is very important to be clear on that this is something that happens on every display LCD/OLED display we make today (in varying degrees) and the differences are with the users. So people who notice it haven’t got a “bad unit” so a replacement wouldn’t work better. We don’t want to feed into some myth that makes people buy and return 5 units in search of “a good one”. They are all more or less the same.
I have found one thing I wish were different. I prefer cooler, bluer white to warmer, yellower white. My Mini 6 seems to have the warmer white (compared to my other iPads). (TrueTone is off, I hate it.) It’s nowhere near a deal breaker for me and I’d probably not notice it if I didn’t have other iPads to compare.

Good point about not returning repeatedly.

I have the 12 Pro Max and 2021 12.9 and just got the Mini 6 as I like a screen larger than the 12PM but not as hefty as the 12.9. I also got the cellular model for mobile use. So far, I love the Mini 6 - exactly what I was looking for and I'm not in the least bothered by the jelly scroll issue. A definite keeper.

Sounds exactly what I’m hoping I think when I get my hands on mine. Out of interest do you think it largely replaces the time you’d have previously spent on your 12.9 iPad or iPhone 12 Pro Max?

Hard to say at this point given the newness of the Mini in my hands - the new toy always gets the most play. But I see the Mini replacing the 12.9 for reading in bed and casual reading (books) around the house. wrt the 12PM, I anticipate reducing its use when out and about, using the Mini instead. Traveling, I would usually take the 12.9 and my Surface Pro 7 laptop - the Mini may replace the 12.9 in that use. The Mini has turned out to be a much nicer device than what this forum had led me to anticipate.

bought one yesterday love the small form factor. Coming from a 12.9 2018 that has been a workhorse! I got a new MacBook when the M1s came out so my iPad wasn’t getting much use I’m hoping that the mini can be a more welcomed portable device over the 12.9 as I didn’t pick it up much and just used my phone most of the time. I am pretty picky about screens and have no issues with the jelly scrolling at all.

After my first trip with the 12.9 iPad Pro, it became my last. Upon returning from the trip I bought a 32GB Mini 4 to take with me on trips instead of the 12.9 Pro. (I subsequently upgraded to the Mini 5) The Mini makes a great travel companion... especially if one is going to take a laptop as well, though I've had a great experience using the Mini as my only computing device on a trip.

I would take my Logitech K380 keyboard along... even though it isn't as compact as the Keys-to-Go keyboard, I like being able to "stretch out" with a larger keyboard and being able to use it with my phone as well.

Just one more thing about traveling with the 12.9 Pro...

Whenever I would take the 12.9 Pro out while in the terminal or on the plane, it was so gargantuan that it felt like I was walking/sitting around with a lunch tray. :D

The way airplane travel is going these days, it could also serve as a defensive shield (or weapon, in dire circumstances).

Not gonna lie. I've used the 12.9" iPP as a tray on occasion. :D

Mind, never had an issue traveling with and using 10-11" iPads in planes. Indeed, the mini would feel too small for me when I have it sitting on the airplane tray for watching videos.

I’m keeping mine. It’s solely meant to complement iPad Pro and iPhone pro. Since it’s a complementing device I got 64gb with WiFi only. It has 33 gbs on it and I’m hoping I’ll be fine with 64.
I also bought the 64gb model thinking that iCloud could house all the stuff I don’t need on it. Hope I made the right decision….

Love my new mini. Making a business trip to Chicago at the end of next month and I think the cellular mini & Pencil will be the only device I take with me aside from my phone & watch. May bring a compact keyboard to leave in my hotel room for when I bang out a bunch of emails at the end of the day, but otherwise I’m convinced the mini can do everything I need and is compact enough that keeping it with me all day won’t be in any way inconvenient.

The small form factor (yet bigger than a Max iPhone), pencil 2 support and convenience make this little guy a winner product IMHO.

I have bad memories of sitting on a train with the iPad Air first gen and it taking up too much room. I would have had a nervous breakdown with my 11 inch pro lol

I did take my air 2 on holiday but it only got used in the hotel room. I used my mini 3 on the plane and was satisfied with that. I think that was the last time I took a big iPad on holiday. Now they are strictly for
Home use.

I had no issues using the OG Air in economy/coach on planes. Even had space on the tray for small snacks and drinks. Caveat, it ran out of battery before we were halfway to the destination so I switched to a Kindle Paperwhite for the remainder of the flight.

Granted, I did mostly leave the iPad in the room of whatever place we'd be staying in at the moment (visiting various family so we moved around a bit). I would've done the same thing with the iPad mini anyway. There wasn't really much use for the iPad when we went out (usually either swimming or walking around all day sightseeing or shopping).

I think I would prefer the mini if I were still using regular trains or buses for daily commute. However, I carpool nowadays so that's no longer a concern. When we went on a trip from LA to San Diego though, using the bigger iPads was quite comfortable on the Amtrak.

You see I don’t like those table seats I’m travelling alone because I’d definitely have to share it with others. I prefer a 2 seater towards the back of the carriage and I hope that nobody sits next to me Lol They are very cramped and so make it difficult to have a larger iPad out

Yeah, was traveling with family (of 4) so the seating was perfect for us. :D

The train I used to ride for daily commute was this and it's normally standing room. Come to think of it, I doubt I could've used the iPad mini either unless I was seated. Probably would've gone with big iPhone in this case, too.

Excellent Youtube review of "every" aspect of the new iPad Mini.

I've been using Apple's iPad mini 6 for the past week, trying to figure out WHO this iPad is meant for.. and I think I've brought it down to 4 categories of people!

I match the last category of people he discusses as I just want a truly compact full feature iPadOS device to complement my laptop/desktop usage.

I’m getting my Mini 6 this coming Wednesday. I’m so excited!!

I‘ve owned the Mini 1 and 3, and currently own a Mini 5, and love the form factor. I’m also loving the fact it will have USB-C. I AM disappointed in Apple because they didn’t replace the Lightning connector on the iPhone 13 line with USB-C.

I finally got my mini 6 today and really love the upgrade from my 5. I see the jelly in portrait but it’s not a big deal to me since it doesn’t get in the way with my normal use for this device. I got $50 off the retail price so I can’t really complain. I understand the fuss about it but that’s the beauty of the 14 day return policy. I’m keeping this device until hopefully the next one with miniLED and 120hz.

I slightly regret not getting the 256gb, but I am pleased I got the cellular. It fits in my jacket pocket for work, so I can walk between buildings and use when teaching without needing a bag.

Took it on a trip this weekend and it sat at my hotel bedside and streamed audio and video. Perfect size for leisure travel.

Great device!

Fantastic! I hope you'll let us know what you think of it when you get it.

It seems to be a little hard to find in my area, so I'm watching my local Apple store to see when they get one in.

I bought a Moko one for now. I will probably end up getting one of the Apple folio cases but I haven’t decided on the colour yet. I like the cherry one, the purple one and the orange one. I’ve got a purple moko case and it goes well with the space grey. It does the job for now.

I got the dark cherry one and I like it. I originally ordered the electric orange, but then saw it in the Apple Store and determined it was just too bright for me. Cancelled the electric orange before it shipped and then ordered the dark cherry. Could only order it for in-store pickup since the cases are back ordered on apple.com. Very happy with my decision. The dark cherry adds a bit of color without being too flashy.
