Watching movies while flying is easy with the Mini. Just tuck the cover into the elastic band of the magazine holder. The screen is held just below eye-level (for me, at least—I’m 6’4”), perfect for viewing. We did this with our Mini 5s returning from Florida in June, while on a cheap Delta flight that lacked entertainment screens. The Smart Folio should hold the tablet a little more securely than the Smart Cover. Add wired or wireless headphones and you’re good to go.

I got the dark cherry one and I like it. I originally ordered the electric orange, but then saw it in the Apple Store and determined it was just too bright for me. Cancelled the electric orange before it shipped and then ordered the dark cherry. Could only order it for in-store pickup since the cases are back ordered on apple.com. Very happy with my decision. The dark cherry adds a bit of color without being too flashy.
Yes I noticed they were back ordered as I was about to order the orange today. Maybe I should just order the orange and cherry and then check them out in the store. Then cancel the one I don’t want as ill have plenty of time before they ship.

Yeah, was traveling with family (of 4) so the seating was perfect for us. :D

The train I used to ride for daily commute was this and it's normally standing room. Come to think of it, I doubt I could've used the iPad mini either unless I was seated. Probably would've gone with big iPhone in this case, too.

Yes I used to commute on the tube in London and there was no room to swing a cat in their during rush hour. Even an iPad mini can be too big on a packed tube. At quieter times the iPad mini was perfect.

Fantastic! I hope you'll let us know what you think of it when you get it.

It seems to be a little hard to find in my area, so I'm watching my local Apple store to see when they get one in.
I had to buy mine through Best Buy, as none of the Apple Stores in northern Los Angeles had any available until mid-October. I made sure to also buy Apple Care, as always.

Yes I bought mine from an authorised resellers here in the uk (PC world) as there was no stock in store or online at Apple.

The Apple Stores are getting them in small quantities occasionally if one scans for what's available for local pickup for a given configuration. But you have to go checking during different times of the day they might receive them from truck deliveries. I literally checked multiple times over a few days until I saw what I wanted in stock long enough to buy online last Friday. Deliveries were 4 to 5 weeks now as a comparison.

Which color of iPad did you get? If it's the purple one, PLEASE I wanna see it with the dark cherry smart folio and I'm not able to find it ??

Anybody know of a case for the mini 6 that has a strap on the back that you can just slip your hand through and carry around? I have a pop-socket on order but don't know if that's what I really want.
EDIT:
NM. I found some.

I don’t know why people want to return over something so trivial. I am thrilled with my new iPad Mini 6. Since getting it I use consistently in preference to my iPhone 12 Pro Max - the iPad Mini for me is a much more enjoyable experience. I have not been so excited with a new device since the 2018 iPad Pro came out.

It's because personal preferences are just that... personal. You think it is trivial. There are those that don't. How a person's visual perception deals with the jelly scrolling is not something that is standard or predictable. You don't know how a person is perceiving the jelly scroll.

I see it. I think it is a significant issue. My Mini 5 doesn't have it... but if I liked the Mini 6 design, I would buy it in spite of the issue... but I would never minimize how it affects others. But that's me... I'm an oddball.

After about a week with the device, I'd say this is, by far, my favorite non-laptop Apple product ever. Warts and all. Here's what I'd consider the warts:

- Lack of a screen that's OLED-like (micro led?) and bright/visible in direct sunlight
- Lack of a faster (and variable) screen refresh rate
- Lack of ability to hook up to an external monitor at different resolutions
- Lack of ability to run macos on an external monitor in emulation mode
- Jelly roll

Those first four are hopefully on some plan, that last one, something to fix.

There should be loads of them in the Refurb Store soon given all the people returning them on the other threads.

I'm keeping mine.
I think Apple would likely have them repurpose for store or internal use then issue them as refurbs. As a comparison the first 24" iMac's sold May 24th. The first refurb's showed up Aug 18th. Thats 86 days. So if people think all these iPad Mini 6's being returned will be available soon. Heck no, as Apple doesn't make them available for a long time. Its a obvious reason to be happy with what you got, otherwise you be waiting quite awhile. :D

Really doubt it. Vast majority of buyers don't even know - or care - that MacRumors exists. This is a minority of tech wonks (me included). I showed this to my wife without telling her the issue and she didn't see anything wrong (she has her own iPad).

Perhaps it's because they don't think it's trivial?

I could say that the size difference between the 11" and 12.9" iPad Pro is trivial, because it was to me and why I went 12.9. Doesn't mean it is for everybody.

Ok, after over a week of use today I got AC+ for my Mini 6 256GB 5G starlight which means I will definitely keep it. I have a loose power button, but I am not willing to get a new one as my display seems very good when I read here about massive problems, not only jelly but also contrast and quality itself. It seems the same like my Mini 5 which was very good quality besides the red tint I had.

No jelly problem, probably have it but don't really see it, it doesn't Bothe rime the slightest, thank god.

Speakers as said before are AMAZING for such a tiny device. Worlds apart from the Mini 5.

5G is amazing too. Much more reliable connection in low signal areas. Much faster download speed in the city. User posted it should be the new iPhone 13 5G Qualcomm modem which would be nice. Same modem firmware and better speeds than on my iPhone 12 mini with the older 5G chip. Very nice for streaming on the go.

TouchID. Now that I still need to get used too. Seems m fire convenient than on the Mini 5. But TouchID home button worked more of the time. No issued almost ever. Here I often need to set my finger position. Haven't learned it perfectly yet. Needs more time. But when it works it is fast.

So is the whole Mini 6. Blazingly fast. Amazing. Mini 5 was very fast for it's age. But you can clearly see the difference to the A15. Which I wouldn't have thought as the Mini 5 works stable and fast. Nice.

Battery is ok, on par with the Mini 5 in my use case. Nothing standing out, nothing bad.

iPadOS is the only disappointing thing about it. Many Youtubers and Reviewers also talked about it giving me hope that maybe Apple will do at least something little about it. Everything is cramped. Feels very small and not at all adjusted to the very expensive Mini 6 or Mini in general. Disappointing. It is not like this is a cheap product and you don#t have resources for it. I Hope they will adjust some things and hope for iPadOS16 to get better. I don#t like iPadOS in general but on the Mini 6 it is even worth.

There is more things to discover, stuff I haven't tried yet. Like Facetiming, camera in general etc. But I need more time to get used to it.

I wonder what a good stand is for the Mini on the legs. Using it like a laptop without a keyboard. Don't want the normal book cases. I had a tablet pillow once but they are all so big, mostly till 12.9. inch, at least to 11inch tablets. Nothing specifically for smaller tablets. What are your thoughts on a good stand to use the iPad on the legs like a laptop but no book case like the Smart Folio.

And even longer if you're in the UK. I'm still yet to see the configuration of the Mini 5 I just upgraded from in the refurb store.

Now waiting on the Air 4 refurbs for a relative, but doubt they'll be getting it by this Christmas!

I think that's his point - that people are making a bigger deal out of it than it actually is. I bet if online forums like this shut down for a month or two and people just used their new iPad Mini as normal without scrutinizing it, that the vast majority of people who think this is a "big deal" right now would change their mind once they stop focusing on it.

I’m not sure what you mean by a stand with legs. I have one similar to this which is great if you have a flat surface to set it on. This may not be at all what you are looking for, though.

I found the Flippy Jr/Fun Size to be a good fit the iPad mini.

I believe @taneff meant a stand that can be comfortably used on one's lap.
