I’m curious if they’ll do a silent update of the Pros with no other change except for an A14X chip. That would even things out. Highly anticipating this announcement.

Oh that would make quite a few people who purchased the 2020 Pros mad. Not unprecedented though (I’m still mad about the iPad 4 replacing my underpowered iPad 3 after only 6 months). There haven’t been any rumors of a Pro refresh today. But, a simple processor bump with no other changes might have flown under the radar.

I'll be using my new iPad (not sure which one yet, either the Pro or the new air) for a lot of notetaking, do you think that the Pro Motion display would make the experience better? Higher refresh rate means lower latency so it probably should make it feel "more natural".
If the new air gets the A14, I'll probably need to decide between faster processor and faster screen.
I'm kinda torn. Any opinion?

Wow...can’t believe the Air now has a chip architecture that is 2 gen newer than the current Pros. I bet it will beat the Pros in single core tasks.

I am quite happy to be wrong about my prediction. Probably won't know about the RAM until people have it in hand.
Yeah we’ll have to wait for iFixit to tear it down. Hard to tell from the renders but it looks like the Air is a bit thicker than the pro. Also, there seems to be a speaker grill near the top button which might mean quad speakers.
Geez the same primary camera as the Pro and quad speakers!? You have to really want ProMotion to get a a Pro at this point.
As is the price of the air 4! $599 for the basic so presumably $699 for a worthwhile amount of storage (no doubt the cheapest will come with 64gb). Ouch.
Yes, this really is quite odd. iPP 11” 2020 is obsolete for all things and purposes. The Pro update can’t be that far away.
Or a screen bigger than 10.9 inches. Also, it doesn’t have quad speakers, just stereo speakers that are finally configured in a way that makes sense.

It's quite a big price increase for what is a mid-range device - $100/£100 more than the Air 3.
A14 was a very pleasant surprise. Gotta say, so very tempted by the Mint Green and Sky Blue. ?
Yeah, I think it's $100 more in Canada, but I'm getting one! My only disappointment is that it's not available to order today. They don't even give a specific date, just "October".
