What about the screen resolution. I mean, the XR has a 6.1” screen and it has a resolution of 720p! I would tbink that’s worth the extra $200.
7+ = 1080
XR = 720
Going backwards, not forward :rolleyes:
Where are you getting 720p?

Specs for both XS and XR, from: https://www.apple.com/iphone/compare/

Video Recording
1080p
HD video recording at 30 fps or 60 fps
Slo-mo video support for 1080p at 120 fps or 240 fps

Front Camera
Cinematic video stabilization (1080p and 720p)
1080p HD video recording at 30 fps or 60 fps

Video Playback
Video mirroring and video out support: Up to 1080p

I prefer the XS. I don't need or want the extra screen size and, as I tend to skip several new models before buying again, I believe I'd be happy with the XS for much longer than the XR. I do like the greater battery capacity of the XR, just not enough to justify buying it.

Telephoto
Smaller size

I'm not really part of that crowd because I like to save money, want the best battery life, and I want RED!

Okey, they're pretty similar to me.
Personally, I don't think the lack of 3D Touch/OLED screen on the XR are deal-breakers. And the XR can handle bokeh even with a single camera...
So, what am I missing here?

Why? Because it’s a better phone than the Xr. Those more thing better than what you pointed out. Just because it isn’t deal breakers for you doesn’t mean that goes for everyone else. Good luck with your Xr, the lesser version of the Xs.

That's a bit harsh. There's no need to belittle others for choosing one or the other, depending on their wants/needs. A real shame to see this bigotry in an Apple forum.

If you found it harsh, that’s you. Is it a fact that it’s a lesser version of the Xs, yes. If not, it would be up there on price with the Xs. It’s not me saying it, it’s Apple.

The 3 new iPhones are intended for people with iPhone 6,6s 7,8,8+. Not for people that have an X. If you have an iPhone X the difference will be minimal at best. Remember iOS 12 will add features to most phones as well
The real big difference is size. So if your looking for size then it’s a good upgrade
Unfortunately Apple went with software polishing as opposed to new hardware Like a foldable iPhone

Lol. No. The new iPhones are intended for anyone who wants a new iPhone. People work the iPhone X still may want to upgrade. Same with anyone iPhone.

Cause going from 5.5 inch iPhone 8 Plus to iPhone XR is almost a downgrade. No 3D Touch no duo camera lenses. No 1080p screen.

The screen resolution on the XR. That’s what he meant. XR screen isn’t even 1080p!

^ That gold iPhone XS that iJustine likes looks hideous to me. It's as if Apple took the silver X/XS and blue light filtered it into a warmer color. That stainless stain band will scratch easily again no matter which color.

The red XR is the only true standout in my eyes and it will be available on release day. This is THE ONE just like many of us were predicting a big, red horse named Justify to win the Triple Crown. Red Wave, right Donald? ;-)

Red appeals to both genders. Many guys had to put up with pink "Bros Gold" for years. We finally have the color that matches the lightsaber of a Sith. Can help AIDS victims just by purchasing a red XR.

XR comes in red and 128 GB. I can also help AIDS victims with my purchase. Only reasons I need to ignore the XS.

If Apple were to release a phone that had a red dot (or Steve Job's signature or whatever) on it and was $150-$1500+ more expensive, some people are literally that petty that they would buy it purely so they can brag that they have the premium phone.

I just don't want to buy an iPhone that sounds like a sport that Serena Williams plays.

10R just sounds a little better to say than 10S while also saving me money and getting the color and storage that I want.

Forest = 4S
Success = 6S
Tennis/Excess = 10S

The Xr does not support dual sim.

Check out Apple's support article. Nowhere does it mention dual sim for the Xr. Only the Xs and Xs Max.
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209044

The more I read I find that the e-SIM SIM slot issue will not be so good. If you have a agreement on the iPhone the carrier is going to lock BOTH slots I believe. You might be able to talk the carrier to unlock the tray for international use....sadly...I hope I'm wrong.

The screen resolution on the XR is not 1080 as it is on the 7/8+. Bigger screen with lower resolution and ppi.

The Xr is a 1792p screen. Not 720p.

Actually for horizontal it's 828p and it can still stream/play 1080p content. The awesome A12 chip will just scale the pixels down to 828p. In the end, for video content no one's gonna notice the difference between 828p or 1080p anyway.

That situation would apply for a single SIM phone anyway. So the dual SIM is already a more flexible phone.

If you have a locked phone and need to travel, just pay it off and get it unlocked. Or pay through the nose and use the carrier's international plan. Unless you have TMobile which has free data in a ton of countries on most plans.

But the Xr sounds like a phone designed by Enrico Pilazzo.

Yes, that is 828 p, not 1792p.

The ppi (pixel) resolution is lower for a larger screen at 326 ppi as opposed to the 7/8 Plus which is 401 ppi. The pixel resolution is the same as the iPhone 6 that came out 5 years ago

  • Higher res screen - Don’t care what anyone says, 720p on a 6.1” display is a joke, especially in 2018
  • 3D Touch - Can’t be without using the keyboard as a cursor now
  • 4GB RAM vs 3GB in the XR - Will make the most difference in the long run
  • Thinner bezels around the screen
  • Double Cameras - Nice to know you have better quality when zooming
  • OLED - I don’t mind LCD but the black levels win out here
All of that is enough for me to pay 200 extra. It’s just knowing you have the best tech in a phone that you’re going to be using constantly every day, and since you’re paying so much for them anyway what’s 200 more? I understand those who may be on a budget but I can justify it.
