What about the screen resolution. I mean, the XR has a 6.1” screen and it has a resolution of 720p! I would tbink that’s worth the extra $200.
Where are you getting 720p?7+ = 1080

I prefer the XS. I don't need or want the extra screen size and, as I tend to skip several new models before buying again, I believe I'd be happy with the XS for much longer than the XR. I do like the greater battery capacity of the XR, just not enough to justify buying it.
