Think i might to for these reasons. complete turn around from a pro though lol.

Lighter.
All black, never really like the SG and the graphite now.
Bigger screen and phone not much bigger than my 11 pro.
Mainly use the wide angle lense v the telephoto thinking about it.
We get $100AUD off first bill, $50 off L plan 180gb for 12 months so same as M plan with 5g (can go down after a year)
I need to increase my data as we can share and i have a 2018 iPad pro ending contract soon so wont have enough, and don't want to pay for seperate sim $25 just to increase data by 20gb. will use hotspot.
Can sell my 11 pro for more than what's owing or just keep paying and pocket the cash.
Tempting.
Sounds like a really good deal to me. The 12 appears to be a very capable phone and being lighter to carry I think is a very good point you’ve highlighted. Go for it.

I got a blue 12 with 128GB for £379 upfront and in a £30 a month contract. With that I get unlimited minutes and texts and 54GB of data (5G). I haven’t seen a deal that beats it in the UK yet and I’ve browsed since to make sure.

I have an iPhone 11 Pro and this year I will buy an iPhone 12 mini. it weighs a lot...I don't want to lose the characteristics ”pro” but the weighs of the new pro models are horrible...

$130 is not an insignificant amount of money during a pandemic where most people are unemployed for the foreseeable future. Jus' sayin'.

Were it me, I'd try to scrounge up the extra money, but the fact of the matter is that both phones are too expensive given today's economic climate.

I don’t think the differences are that drastic but given the price difference I would kick myself if I went the 12 because camera is a big selling point for me. Don’t blame people for not wanting to spend the extra though. The weight is probably the only reason I would consider the 12 over the pro.

Apple has done a fantastic job with the iPhone 12, every time I held a xr or 11 I liked the size, but the things that turned me off them was the thickness, bezels, and that lcd panel. Always found the colors on the non pro models more appealing than the pros.

This year apple made the iPhone 12 lighter, thinner, fixed them thick bezels, and gave it the same oled screen as the pros.

Looking forward to getting my blue iPhone 12. Can see myself enjoying the lighter 12 over my xs max.

In my European country it's over $400 more expensive, and that isn't worth the extra camera and LIDAR.

I’m on the 11 Pro Max and I’m going to the mini. I’ve always preferred the flagship models but the last few top end/pro models I’ve got I don’t care much for when I look at the cost. I upgrade every year with Verizon so I don’t care about long term. At least if I get the mini and don’t like it, my wife is getting a 12, I can see if I like that size and switch.
I just miss small phones.. I have a 5S but with terrible battery life so I never use it. Plus I think with a mini, I can remove the cellular option in my watch and being the phone with me when I go on walks since it won’t be as bulky or heavy.

if the mini didn’t have a OLED panel, I’d go pro. But since that’s changed, it was one of the driving factors to getting the flagships in the prior years.. not anymore.

I got it on mobiles.co.uk

Still offered too

12 Pro or not to 12, that is my question. Whether to ...

I've been enjoying the delights of the iPhone 7 Product[RED] 256, bought ex-display in airport at v good price. I've used the camera a lot and rather than buy a separate camera to make that a hobby I'm now considering buying an iPhone 12, probably SIM-free outright. I'm UK-based but travel to US/Canada, or used to ...

My hesitations about the 12: FaceID; bigger in the hand
My 12 vs 12Pro thoughts: will need 128GB at least but prob not 256; weight difference when jumping up from 7 to 12Pro

I plan to cascade the 7 (256) to family who will then cascade to etc ... so trade-in not sensible.

Whatever I buy I will probably keep at least 3 years, and the price difference, given one has the cash, between the 12 and the 12Pro does not seem that great when considering a 128 model and wanting to believe that 6GB RAM should be 50% better than 4 + the telephoto and nightmode camera benefits.

I guess the 'bigger in hand' and the '12 Pro weight' issues only really get resolved by a hands-on experience - wonder when that will be given COVID handling restrictions in shops ;)

edit: just added the physical specs for ip7, ip12 and ip12P which tell me that with the massive upgrade in screen/body ratio, the size difference not so great (12 is +17.7% up on ip7) but weight difference is significant, especially for ip12Pro (at +36.7% over the ip7).

In Australia the difference is $350 between the two base models. That's a lot, although opinions will be divided. On a carrier plan like around half of people do versus outright, the difference per month is much smaller.

I'm non-Pro all the way and the extra features mean little. Also, no way on earth would I have a phone as heavy as the Pro. My 177g XS was a hassle.

I wanted the following with the pro over the the normal 12....

Gold
stainless steel
telephoto lens
HDR video at 60 frames per second over 30 frames per second with the 12
4X times optical zoom
800 nits over 625
Night mode portraits

After reviewing the comparisons link, I am a little torn. Knowing me, I will not use all the camera features on the iPhone 12 Pro Max. At the same time, I don’t really want a smaller device, than my iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Hmm, decisions, decisions.

As a test, I placed an iPhone 12 Pro in my cart, and it was available for pickup, in Alpharetta, on 23rd Oct.

Rather interesting...

The iPhone 12 seems like an odd duck in the lineup. For $170 more with the 12 Pro you get a better camera, brighter screen and storage starting at 128GB.

Right now Apple is selling 7 models in the lineup:

iPhone 12 Pro Max
iPhone 12 Pro
iPhone 12
iPhone 12 mini
iPhone SE
iPhone 11
iPhone XR

That’s crazy. It seems like Apple’s product roadmaps now revolve around filling price points more than anything else. And now that the regular iPhone is almost the same as the Pro wouldn’t it make more sense to get rid of the Pro naming and just have 3 iPhones small, medium and large. They could keep the SE model as the aluminum iPhone and the cheapest.

The telephoto is basically useless in real world applications. Ultra wide at least adds an interesting POV to shots.
There is definitely a perspective difference with each lens. Much less distorted look of a portrait photo as an example.

If there was a 5.4" Pro, I might consider it, but I'm not going to jump on the mid-2010s Android trend of a plate on my face.

12 will be the standard-issue for businesses handing out large numbers of handsets to employees & for that reason alone would be the stand-out bestseller.

Big firms doling them out every three years want the cheapest (not Pro) & the standard 12 will suit their average mobile user better than the Mini.

I think the SE will be the most popular business phone as it’s an iPhone at £399. Most of the sales team and management where I work were either given 7’s or 8’s so I think the SE will be the next upgrade. The 12 is going to be very popular with the mainstream I think and the deals o have seen so far make the more expensive pro’s a very hard sell at the minute.

agreed - though I was thinking about 12's.

I'm typing this on my work-issued 8, previously unused until I sold my personal 11 Pro Max on eBay on Friday ahead of a 12 Pro pre-order. I guess I'll find out in October 2021 when it's 3-years old 😁

I think it's a good range this year, difficult choices & I'd personally be happy with any of them.
