I actually think that the 12 pro is the least attractive out of the lineup. They are nearly identical except for that telephoto and the extra storage. The extra ram is cool but no big deal. If you don’t need that why go pro? And if I want 128GB of storage I’d go 12 at $850, still saves me $150 which could go to a case, MagSafe etc...

I went with the pro too. For me the extra GB and camera specs matter. Also....pacific blue.

I was considering the mini but I'm already going from an 11 pro max to a 12 pro. I watch a lot of videos on my phone and I think the mini would be too much of a leap in the other direction. I also don't want to wait another month. 🤷‍♂️

1. There is no such thing as a Pro anything. I hate marketing.
2. Not once in my phone buying life have I ever worried about or questioned RAM
3. Screen brightness = greater battery drain.
4. I have Xr with 64 gb storage, 42 gb Free. The cloud!

I upgraded to 11 for ultra wide lens. 379 after trade in. So big price difference.

$120 price difference between 128 iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro. 2 extra gigs of ram, an extra camera, LIDAR, better future proofing.
$150 for me. Plus $50 extra for apple-care everyone seems to be forgetting. So thats $200 saved. So your $120 is actually $170 if going with apple care. Future proofing does little if you upgrade every year.
The weight issue for me is what made me switch. Could care less about paying for the same camera from last year. Cant weight (😄) to get rid of the weight of my 11 pro. Lidar. Pfffff. 😅

$270 CAD? Isn't the 12 with 128GB $1199 and the 12 Pro with 128GB $1399, for a $200 difference?

Not that I disagree in general about the difference.
Yeah I hadn't realized it was 128gb base for the Pro. But I think it's better to compare the base introductory prices in a few cases; for example people who are fine with just 64gb

Along with weight comes strength.
Your choice to go lighter also means the phone will be weaker than your 11 Pro.
Be careful putting your new 12 in your pocket ;)

Really? Are you serious. This isnt 2016. The only way you are bending 7000 series aluminum is with a hydraulic press.
Going lighter means i can comfortably hold my phone, and not feel like a brick in my hand and pocket. Stainless steel on a phone isn’t popular for that reason. Apple is the only one practically using it. Notice bend tests are a thing of the past? This is why.

Because the base model is 200 quid more, and some people don't need to spend an extra 200 quid.

Except I work with professionals right now who have gone out and bought separate LIDAR devices specifically for the room mapping capabilities that the iPhone 12 Pro now has built-in.
Just because you see no value doesn't mean the value isn't there.

Not a troll post, genuinely curious.. is he room scanning for real estate or something? Apples marketing works perfectly on me, I'm a sheep and they know it, I was interested in the idea of the LiDAR Scanner but I'm not sure what I'd use it for except the possible camera improvements. I ordered the pro but I am constantly second guessing myself as I believe I don't use the camera's to their full abilities and I like the color and weight of the regular 12...

I thought about it. Telephoto lense is nice, but not useful for me really. Don’t want heavier. Prefer color of 12. Ram is frankly silly. My 6s+ seems sort of slow this year. And I saved a couple hundred.

Construction. They can map a room and show every conduit and pipe.

I was all set to get the Pro but when it came time to checkout I got the 12. I have an 11 Pro now and don’t use the telephoto lens often. I use the ultra wide lens a lot more than I thought I would, I think Apple was right to make that the second lens on the non-pro line.

I’m not fussed about LIDAR, until I see a significant difference in day to day applications with LIDAR it’s not a priority for me. If Apple is making a big AR push in the next few years then LIDAR will trickle down to all models eventually anyway.

I think my 11 Pro is too heavy so I’ll appreciate the lighter weight of the 12, especially with the screen size increase over the 11 Pro. I also prefer the colors of the 12 (I went with green). So aesthetically the 12 is a step up over the 12 Pro for me.

The only thing I’ll really miss is the extra RAM, but $150 saved (plus the $150 bonus trade in credit from T-Mobile) means more money in my pocket and I can live with 4 GB for another year.

I suspect next year’s pro phones will do more to justify their price. 120hz screens just for a start. If they pull out the stops for next year’s pro phones, I’ll go back to that line. If not, I’d prefer to save some money.

It seems like Apple’s product roadmaps now revolve around filling price points more than anything else.
You really have no concept of the size and breadth of the iPhone market. Every $100 increment is an entirely different market unto itself.

Its $200 saved with Applecare. 👍 Dont forget about the extra $50 saved.

“Between the XS and the 12 is no difference (13 grams). But compared with the mini, is brutal!”

Exactly. What are you missing?

Original poster said:

"My iPhone XS weighs 177g. And my fingers get tired from holding it. iPhone 12 Pro is 189g. Even heavier.
iPhone 12 is 164g and mini is 135g. My fingers will appreciate the light weight of 12 and 12 mini."

And I said: between the 12 and the XS is no difference (it´s just 13 grams).

And you talk about the 11P, the 11P is 188 grams and with the 12 now YES there is a big difference, 24 grams (and on the mini is abismal of course).

At the end of the day is falls into one’s own financial perspective of it. Obviously, if you know exactly what to do with the new camera technology added and intend to make full use of it, by all means the iPhone 12 Pro is a no brainer as a purchase. But if you’re just someone who wants to have that nice new luxurious item and can afford it without it affecting your responsibilities, by all means go for it.

Never said there was no value. Although in this case there isn’t for me. Said, no such thing as a pro model. I’m a professional developer. I can and do use an MacBook Air and a mini, I don’t need a pro model to do my job.(Marketing)

Wow. I was not talking about the 11p. Maybe you have me mixed up with someone else. Was talking about this.

That isn't me. That is you. How do you think i was talking about the 11p? Posted it twice. The difference between the 11p and 12p is only one gram. Little difference. That is why i mentioned the 11p.
You said 13 grams is no difference. Not me. That is why i commented I think you are confused.

I dont care about the money aspect at all. The weight is the biggest difference for me and alot on here.
Luxurious item? 😂

When you said "My 11pro feels like a brick in my pocket at 188 grams. The 12 pro is 189 grams. The 12 is 164 grams. Big difference."

Anyway, is heavy
