I don't mind cheap phones either. I would take what you just said, but with a 6.7 inch display and OLED. Cheap and midrange phablets do very very well in the android sphere (see the Galaxy FE and A71); for me battery life and display size/quality are my main concerns.
Yes, a Max non-pro iPhone if you will.
It's too bad that Apple equates larger screen size as a Pro (and more expensive) segment. Take their laptops (16" Macbook Pro), iPad Pro (12.9" on Pro only), and iPhone Pro Max.

The data and common sense says otherwise. Most SE2 buyers aren't cross shopping between $399 and $699 devices. A record number of SE2 buyers came from Android switchers. In other words, SE2 buyers were price sensitive. The SE2 isn't some revolutionary small phone. It's a refreshed iPhone 8. Many people who wanted small phones bought the iPhone 8.
True. The SE2 popularity is due to its price. For many people, all they want is the cheapest iPhone regardless of the size/spec, and the SE2 fills that demand.

That is true. I don’t want to be without my new favorite phone so quickly.

There is a demand for mini.. maybe not as much as the other phones because people get into the "best" mindset.. mini is not top of the line, not flagship.. that is Pro Max. So I must have the Pro Max, even if I need two and a half thumbs to use it single-handedly or need two hands all the time so it does not fall. ?

I sincerely hope they do not kill the mini. It is a fantastic device and can replace SE perfectly. It stands alongside. Doesn't need to compete with anything.

They probably stoping the next quarter production due to piling up stocks and not enough demand to keep up.
But given the common R&D and batch production methods, there is likely an iPhone 13 mini already in production pipeline for this end of year.

I’m in for the idea of mini baseline chassis becoming the next SE with lower specs camera, screen panel, resolution, maybe previous year SoC and probably better battery life, with the same pricing as current SE.
Imo Apple will maintain an iPhone mini version as a way to mask the fact that now the base iPhone price is $800 instead of $700. This increases their ASP a lot as majority people will end up buying the $800 iPhone. :D Typical marketing trick.

Yes true, but also due to the fact that no regular iPhone with LCD screen anymore, thus regular 12 price has to be increased. This put the mini in the right pricing range, under the regular 12 and above the 11.
I think it’s a fair pricing from Apple, despite their overall ridiculous pricing through out the entire iPhone lineups.

I feel like the 11 also contributed towards the poor sales of the mini. A flagship processor, large display/battery, modern home buttonless design, and cheaper than the mini. For a lot of people who want a cheap but still flagship quality device it makes sense. From what I remember the 11 was the most popular iPhone registered on Christmas day 2020 US; probably makes sense especially for someone a bit younger who plays a lot of games/watches a lot of videos and uses their phone as a allrounder computing device. Essentially any budget/price argument for the mini was killed off due to the existence of the SE2/XR/11, aside for the people who wanted the cheapest possible 5g iPhone; but I doubt that would be enough to sway anyone. Thus the only consumers really left were the small phone enthusiasts, who are a loud but small crowd.

You have a point there. People looking at the current iPhone lineup will be looking at the $800 iPhone 12 and $600 iPhone 11. We already established that for most people, the screen size of the mini is too small. Based on that, it makes sense that the iPhone 11 is popular. It has the “same” dual camera setup, and for most people, that’s probably the defining factor, as lay people don’t care about OLED, A13 vs A14, and those things. All they see is a $200 less iPhone that is only differ by one number (11 vs 12).

The mini has a crap battery, and the mini is way over priced for what it is........ Bought one, kept it 10 days then returned it. Worst bang for the buck Iphone ever made.
Disagree. Best bang for the buck in the current iphone lineup. The battery thing is vastly overstated. In real world use, it lasts maybe an hour less of SOT than the 12 or Pro. Maybe. Still the best battery life of any iphone I've ever had by a substantial margin.

I can't see how the mini is better value than the 11; the 11 can do everything the mini does besides 5g, and has a better battery, larger display, and is cheaper. I'm a 12 owner myself, only upgraded from the 11 because my father needed a new phone; had it not been for that I would have kept it till 2022. It's the phone most people should buy IMO.

4-6 hours SoT is better than previous regular sized iPhones such as 6,6s,7,8, and X.
You and others probably got used to larger iPhones with obvious bigger battery.

I can’t speak for everyone on the price per performance ratio on any iPhones, bang for the buck is subjective matters.
But if I have to choose, that would be the iPhone 11 like many opted and commented here.

Agree. The iPhone 11 is still a great option. If it’s not for the larger size, I would buy that instead of the mini. Camera and SoC performance isn’t matter yet, at least not now.

But Apple saw that mini models have low demand worldwide and this is why they have decided to stop production.
Not true at all. The SE 2020 was the 5th best selling smartphone in the world and Apple's 2nd best selling phone behind the iPhone 11 last year. The SE has an even smaller display than the Mini. The Mini isn't selling because its overpriced by about $150, and I own one. If Apple makes a 13 Mini, it better be priced much cheaper or it won't sell.

It is overpriced IMO and would be suited better at 599. But then if it received a price cut it would likely harm 11/XR sales; and would also make the 799 price point of the 12 look even worse. With the mini placed in its current position apple can fill every price point which helps them upsell people to the 12 and 12 pro models and make more profit. Let's not pretend apple want us to buy the mini; they want us buying the pro and pro max models ideally and will do anything to upsell us to that point.

Switched from iPhone 11 to 12 mini and am very happy with it. iPhone 11 was too big and heavy for my needs. Now am planning to skip iPhone 13 line and then may think about upgrading again to iPhone 14, or not. Will not buy any “reserve” copies of 12 mini, though. ?

So what you all guys think and advice? Shall i sell my iPhone 12 and buy an iPhone 12 mini instead? Or go ahead with my iPhone 12 till next iPhones? Will Apple release an iPhone 13 mini? I am so confused now. I don’t want to see that i can’t find mini anywhere to buy...

Apple have not made a single statement to say that the iphone 12 mini is selling poorly. We have these reports of the 12 mini only taking up 6% of 12 series sales which is fair enough, however only Apple know what their own forecasted sales are for the 12 mini and if its sold successfully or not.

I don’t think they ever made any statement about badly selling products. That is of course all left to speculation.

If your 12 works fine then I really would wait for the 12s/13 mini like you originally planned. We knew the line up for months prior to release so there’s no harm in waiting and seeing how the rumour mill goes. If it becomes apparent that it will be discontinued and there’s no mini 12s/13 then get a 12 mini then I guess. I’m sure you’ll be able to find new minis at resellers for years to come though, I can still find brand new iPhone X for example.
