Let me get it: Apple won't introduce new iMacs and the present models are in backorder for more than a month.
Therefore the result is that Apple just won't sell desktop for Q3 2020?
Unbelievable.

Looks like my nightmare will come true after today's reports. I never trust that greedy salesman Mr. Cook when it comes to Macs and redesign but after all these rumors, I was on the train too..
Nevermind, since I hate and know Tim Cook's behaviors, I have already bought a base 2019 5K iMac in February and was planning to sell and buy a new one if they'll come with a really but really properly cooled hardware.

You're totally one of the customers Tim Cook wants. Also, 2020 iPad Pro is a dead born product. A12Z isn't different from A12X on the 2018 model while the 5nm cpus will become a reality within a few months. We have a 2017 iPP too and it's still going strong. I simply wouldn't do what you're planning.

Yup. I'd keep his iPad. And buy the next one (the A14X) next year.

Unbelievable. *(Azrael insert: 'Cabin fever.' Plus Apple are probably 'messing' with their leakers...)

Ye-ah. *not* going to happen.

Apple have to announce hardware tomorrow. Mac ARM.

Devs have to test it. Apple will have to show them how to write to it. Demo it. Allow devs to 'buy' a Beta kit...preview of the Mac ARM iMac which will sell late fall/early '21.

So there IS going to be 'some' hardware.

And...the other bit of hardware is 'at least' updated iMacs. With the substantial refresh.

New design.
Substantial spec refresh.

Both of things are going to be true tomorrow.

I can see Apple 'boasting' their preview of Mac ARM iMac outstripping the 21 inch iMac...whilst giving the current iMac a 'deprecated' Intel refresh. Apple still have to sell to Intel Mac customers. They aren't 'not' going to do that for half a year to 3/4s of a year...

If there is no new iMac announced tomorrow, im thinking I will update my iPad Pro to the new 2020 version (from my current 2017 iPad Pro) instead.

There's nothing wrong with your 2017 iPad Pro.

Wait until the A14x. And the 'non-flexy' frame.

It is, which is why it won't happen. I expect we will get the present models with spec updates announced via a Press Release either after the Keynote is over or within a day or two.

So I think Sonny Dickson has misled us. Looks like the "iPad Pro design language at WWDC" is actually Apple announcing the 24" Arm late 2020/early 2021. Kuo's key words are "ALL NEW form factor" for the 24". So the new form factor isn't coming to the 21.5/27 this year. Existing iMacs just refreshed "refresh of existing iMacs" according to Kuo. Very disappointing.

Agreed, that's the way I see Apple doing it. I don't see any announcement tomorrow on the 21.5 /27. They will just be refreshed, low key in the next few 1-3 months, probably next month since the 27" is showing long delivery times.

I think it should be great to finally see a change in the iMac after a long time now. I suppose the bezels could be thinner and overall design should see a drastic change, because iMac is kind of boring to look at, compared to other Apple products. I don’t mean to offend anyone, but I do have an iMac and I love it, but I just hope we see a new design altogether.

As far as timing of the redesign and launch of a new iMac, I don’t think we’d see it in 2020. As far as I am concerned, I think it might get launched either in early or mid 2021. It is great to be a part of this discussion!

This thread is giving me anxiety now. if no hardware, they should have squashed this rumnor a week or more ago. Now it will just likley produce resentment and anger instead. I have a bad feeling now after all those discouraging tweets. I didn't mind the current mac design until I got my hopes up. Now I can't stand it. f'ers.

Enjoy the keynote tomorrow.

It will soothe expectations and fears alike.

A new iMac is coming. And a Mac ARM iMac is coming.

Until then, sleep is the gift. Dream of new iMacs. Whether Intel iMacs....or iMac ARM previews...

I'm afraid there has been a lot of confirmation bias going on in this thread. We all got sucked in. Dickson's tweet sent us down a rabbit hole.

Well the poll above does favor 37% '21 or after....

And I thought so, but didn't want to say anything for fear of jinxing it. Apple has become so ***** boring and predictable on this (lack of) stuff we really want. But Kuo's blurb still indicates "imminent", so hope still left.

If a refresh of the existing imac design is coming, I predict Apple will be lazy and just do 9th gen Intel across the board, stick with fusion and 8 gigs of ram. To make the dissapointment complete, it will still have wifi 5.

I may be wrong, but at least Im not trying to sell false hope like that moron Jon Prosser

Nah, you’re all good, dont worry. New regular iMac announced Monday. If not, I’ll buy you a 2019 iMac. ;)

Macrumors now report it won't be ready for launch over the summer but by the end of the year :(
[automerge]1592767065[/automerge]
According to leaks this has been ready to ship for a while and only was looking for a new space in apples timeline wich got messed up due to covid. Fairly certain it will drop ASAP after the Keynote.
Well, according to Macrumors latest "leaks" it looks like it won't launch this summer but by the end of the year :( dammit

Unbelievable.

Think about my original assumption.
Only specs bump.
WWDC postponed for two weeks to make room for iMac in schedule because corona messed things up.
Riots/BLM denied that window of release.
Now apple considers to fully focus on software on their developer conference.

They might just dish out iMac two weeks after WWDC.

One of the leakers even claimed that iMac would not ship before july, despite the Prosser claim that it already is ready to ship.

Remember when they did this pre-announcement of the mac pro.. It took a year from then or more to finally deliver. And who would sink a bunch of money with a mild refresh knowing a total redesign is coming. It's either a redesign or nothing or preview for end year. Either way, I'm getting a little sick of Apple's mac bs. 21 might be the year to transition back to windows.

Prosser just said iMacs were ready to ship in March. Yes he is late. It's Dickson I'm not pleased with - "...New iMac incoming at WWDC. iPad Pro design language, with Pro Display like bezels...". That's what got everyone really excited. No iMacs are coming at WWDC as far as I can see.

The leaks sound like Apple is discussing right now wether to make it a software only event or not. Thats not a past leaks related deal, thats them charging their schedule.

Prosser did not say iMac would come in march, Prosser said iMac was supposed to come in March way after March. He only said it's been ready to ship for a while.

Imagine taking these tweets at face value lol

"These morons will believe anything that's somewhat plausible, let's add to the trough and watch them squabble."

The schadenfreude is just too juicy to ignore

Well I'll go out on a limb and predict that a large number of us will save some money next week.

We will see. I imagine them just finishing up the keynote and making some decisions. Might still happen, might just have been someone in the conversation suggesting maybe not to do it and now it's "news" because someone told it to several leakers.

At the moment, the situation is such that we can get

- minor update of iMacs with improved CPU/GPU, total SSD and +- other little things
- A new trial/test iMac on ARM - mb that is what everyone is talking about in their rumors.

Common sense and conclusions based on all of the above rumors. How else to understand just one registered new iMac?

Q.E.D.🤷‍♂️
[automerge]1592768337[/automerge]
We may yet see that final 'hurrah', if only specs wise.

Any 23 inch Mac ARM iMac 'Air' will bury the 21 incher. I feel confident in that. And maybe Apple will show off this.

There will be hardware to morrow.
Dudes kicks on 2019 models will applaud

This lockdown malarkey is great, saving more money than usual, with no new Apple hardware to spend it on ;)

But if there is bad news, then there is good news: if iMacs are postponed to the third quarter, they can get RDNA 2
To begin with I wanted them to announce them soon, but I am happy for them to wait until RDNA2 is ready. It will be a HUGE move forwards for Mac GPUs.

That means introducing new hardware and it would be a wasted marketing opportunity with millions following the dubdub keynote tomorrow.

If the latest rumours are true then it's a real downer for me. My MBP 2011 and iPad 4 need replacing and I'd been banking on an iMac (and then waiting for the next iPad Air, hopefully with Pro design and Apple Pencil 2 support).

Might just pull the trigger on an iPad Pro 12.9 now and go all in on iOS.
