Apple is actually trending on twitter with lots of newspapers writing about their climate goal of zero emissions till 2030.
I was more in a "no one cares, just another company greenwashing".

So bigger than i expected. Still would be neat to just ad a new iMac tomorrow that proofs the concept.

Makes me wonder if I should uh give up hope for the new iMac this week since today they published that and updated their site.

Maybe Apple is waiting for Tiger Lake, which will likely be released on September, will be on 10++nm (lol), and have Thunderbolt 4 built-in ? It will likely heat less, but also might reduce the performance gap between AS and x86.

That would make sense to me since Thunderbolt 4 will be built into AS too with the newest controller from Intel. I don't know, I'm just saying this ...

EDIT : Nevermind, the desktop variant will still be in 14nm. Shame, Intel. And will be released far later.

I feel like a redesigned iMac playing into that report with it's design changes would fit the announcement very well and could drop any day. So if it's a redesign it could still happen tomorrow.

A specs bump only iMac might not be horrible, but it also dos not facilitate change and should not be anywhere near this announcement.

Keep in mind that this is only a report and a goal they announced. They could easily have don it a different week, month... even year. With both MacBook and iMac due for a redesign and iPhone already having the "no charger/smaller box" rumours it might be good news for people desiring a redesigned iMac. And if it is... see first paragraph.

While I believe Intel eventually plans to transition the high-performance desktop CPUs to the Tiger Lake process, everything I have seen is that at launch in September only the 9W and 25W TDP models for laptops will be shipping and for performance desktop (65W-125W) that will be the 14nm Rocket Lake. So it could be well into 2021 (or even 2022, knowing Intel, who never got Ice Lake beyond 25W as I recall) before the 65W+ performance desktop line moves from Rocket Lake to Tiger Lake.

I mean look at the iMac product now, it's laughable: Old processors, fusion drives with ridiculous upgrades to ssds, same form factor for over a decade, and updated over a year ago. I don't know how they can sell that crap for another 2 months at the price they're selling them for. I really hope they update this month.

I think this is my main frustration with Apple anymore, selling out dated tech with no discount. Could you imagine a car company selling 2019 cars for the same price all year round?

I hope you are already typing this on your 12 inch MacBook.

I said this some days ago. If intel was the bottleneck in this new iMac, i could see Apple and Intel just agreeing on putting in the next gen of chips right away and going September (probably with a October release) with it.

Had this "intel is the bottleneck" idea when i saw that 9th gen 27 Inch iMacs becoming available faster again while the 10th gen is still very deep in the September dates.
Yesterday the 10th gen 27 inch showed back up in Dresdens Apple Store. Online order estimates still in September, Dresden being the only store in Germany that has the 10th gen Intel 27 incher in stock. So something seems to be happening on that front as well... but who knows.
But then again, if you judge from only two of the current gen iMacs rocking 9th gen Intel Chips and the rest even being 8ths and 7ths gen... would Apple really need 11th gen chips for a well rounded iMac Lineup? Or would it just be wait for the biggest base model of them all?

Breaking... rumours have it saying Big Sur is already running on iEarth. So is Intel. And AMD. And Apple Silicon...

same form factor for over a decade

I am fairly certain it's 8 years actually. Reasonably sure that my 2012 model was the first super thin edges one.
All the rest, yeah. They have issues by they became a trillion dollar company with em... lets just hope for one dropping tomorrow and being great.

So Dresden is stocking iMac 5Ks with the i9-10910 that leaked on Geekbench with the AMD Radeon Pro 5300? Or do you mean the (current BTO option) i9-10900K, which is a 9th Generation chip.

Maybe we consult the various Twitter idiots and their serpent tongues.

Design flaw ? I don't think. A soon-to-be-common connectivity ? Probably. Monitors are more and more offering USB-C connectivity, USB-C thumb drive are available if you are still in the 2000s. Yeah device makers need to upgrade and I really don't know why they don't, but calling it a design flaw ... I don't think so.

Hmm, Apple started shipping laptops with this only connection FOUR years ago ... and it's still only "soon-to-be-common"?!?!

I remember how all the people back in 2016 were saying everything would be USB-C/thunderbolt 3 within a couple of years.

Still waiting ... :)

More and more devices comes with USB-C. Thunderbolt still need certification, making far harder to build a device with.

Tomorrow is the new iMac day. I can feel it in the air. Like every Wednesday since Prosser tweeted that new iMacs are ready to ship.

This typical for me, last year I switched to work only from home and told myself that I will buy a new iMac for my birthday to make my workspace more comfortable and because I didn't have vacation for 3.5 years (except Christmas). Yet I'm still sitting here with my 2015 MBP, which I love and will keep forever, but dammit, where is my new iMac, Tim?

They are stocking the one 9th gen iMac model again, yeah. The only model that still has shipping time till september online is back in stock in this one store.

All the rest of the iMacs is 8ths and 7th gen. My Bad.
The mid tier 27 inch is back at Dresden as well. (online store shipping about mid august)
The low tier 27 inch is back at Dresden and Munich. (online store shipping about mid august)

I think yesterday the two lower tier 27 inchers had not seen store stock again.

Annoying video. He doesn’t really state much from what I watched. Basically said new products are coming soon.

He points out the leaker and unlike some people here underlines the leakers over 80% success rate and stacks his own assumption on top of that calling iMac possible because of all the other iMac leaks in the past months or weeks.
Thats pretty much the best news report you could do about iMac/the leak just now... he just is two days later to the party than we are because he had to script out, film, edit and release the video. No need to **** on him.

sorry, I don't get your videoquote of my post...

Just stop trolling.

Lol, are you serious? who is trolling? my previous post was about how I wanted to finally treat myself with a new computer and I yet I'm not lucky again, because it was delayed. Are you oversensitive to that kind of posts or what?
