Not gonna lie but I always wanted DrRadon wrong so I really hope its not tomorrow. I want RDNA2 and redesign - I basically want substantial update and not some crappy spec bump.
We shouldn't settle just because its been ages. The longer we wait the better it needs to be otherwise Apple is taking the piss.
So, I really wish its not this week or for the next 5 weeks minimum. September the earliest but October ideal. RDNA2, nice bezel-less design and some proper cooling. Ideally 30-32" but that is probably unlikely.
If they want to push the last update they should do it properly.

I skipped the nonsense for the past few pages so I'm not uptodate. I guess some still wanted floppy discs, right? :)

:p

This is Apple we are talking about. Even if RDNA 2 was just coming out they would still give you RDNA 1

Unfortunately some people haven't learned this yet, so are destined for disappointment. I think it took me about 10 years to build up my tolerence to hopes and reality regarding Apple computers.

Expect little in the specs departments on computers and you will be happy. Expect everything and guaranteed disappointment.
The phones / ipads etc are a different game.

Been watching this thread for over 120 pages. I cannot wait to see how all of these discussions shake out if/when Apple drops the new iMacs. I’m in agreeance with jetjaguar, we’re getting RDNA 1 no matter what, so it might as well be tomorrow or Thursday!

The next iMac will be the last and phased out within a few years. I really do not see the point of a major redesign for a product line that is phased out. If you think Apple did not know that the AS for Macs worked until WWDC 2020, you are wrong. They have known for years and planned the iMac path of updates accordingly.

The rumoured iPad Pro design of iMac fits AS thermal envelope very well and would signal a new product line with ties to the iOS devices. A minor tweak of the iMac Pro case is sufficient for a new iMac such as smaller bezels (will do very little for thermal).

BTO iMac time is now reduced to 1-2 weeks unless you want the i5 and 2Tb options. iMac Pro BTO 5-7 days. There has obviously been a component restraint and an updated iMac might be affected as well.

I felt like i was being made fun of for wanting a new iMac and trusting in leakers after venting for pages on how i will hold on to my 2015 MacBook because i have strong dislikes for the MacBooks after.
If it's a misunderstanding i am genuinely sorry.

I don't make fun of people, only when they make fun of me. I am on the same boat. I was ready to buy a new laptop around 2018, because it's my main tool for making money, so I feel I should have an up-to-date hardware to enjoy my job more. But there was nothing to buy that I could really trust. So I was waiting. Then I switched to work only from home, wanted to buy an iMac and again, there is nothing to buy (if you don't want to spend thousands for an old hardware).

(and I really didn't have a vacation for more than three years, I said that because I wanted to point out that I think I deserve a new hardware = in case Tim reads this thread 😂)

I even have a birthday upcoming. Maybe you are my long missing twin and this is actually the Truman show.

Well I already had my birthday, but I have always wanted to have a brother :)

I guess we all are kind of in the Truman Show. Tim is sitting at his table, using his amazing 32" iMac, laughing at people that are buying 8 years old design thinking they are getting the best hardware Apple can produce right now 😬

I guess this post will get deleted. Sorry.

Looks painful. (Like waiting for a new iMac.)

He'll have tail fracture if he keeps that up...

This.
* Space Grey
* Updated CPU Chip
* Stays cool = doesn't throttle as much = better performance
* Get rid of fusion drive.
* Can keep current design until AS imacs.

Yeah.

The R&D is already done. They could trim the bezels a bit and 'boom.' Done Done.

There's an iMac Pro chassis. Ready to use. With a cooling solution.

Throw in the latest Intel cpus and an RDNA1 card with BTO 6600M RDNA2.

Azrael.

If something is to be announced today, shouldn’t it have been 18 mins ago? 1pm UK time.

Just noticed that there's a load of 21" iMacs in the UK refurbished store and a couple of iMac Pros, which is a bit odd as they haven't had any for weeks. I don't think this is down to any coronavirus restrictions on dealing with machines as there's been a steady supply of MacBook Pros over the last few months. I'm not going to read to much into this but interesting all the same.

At the very least the climate report is gone from the landing page. Who knows, maybe we get lucky in the next couple of hours.
Perhaps!!! Not the best indicator as it has been said previously but the iMac 27" BTO for me is showing early-mid October delivery. Plus some 21" & all 27" models are not available for pick up at my local Apple Store.

I've always liked your optimism.

I don’t think Apple will release anything with a marketing view that it’s “phased out”. If they are releasing anything it is to make money.

you have to ask yourself, would a redesigned intel Mac sell better than the old design? The answer is definitely yes. It’s not that hard to design a new look for an iMac and change the back panel slightly to accommodate new chips. They’ve been doing that with the current design for years.

Its very possible that Apple will release the last intel iMac in the old design, especially if that is released this month. If it’s September Or later though, I think that’s a new design. They would have dropped a spec bump by now with no fanfare if there is no new design. No need to hype that up for September.

there are many reasons to redesign the last intel, and most of them are to move units and cash in. If they wanted to wait to debut new designs with new chips they’d wait until everything was ready. Part of a transition means crossover while keep sales up and freshening up the line.

I don't know what else to hope for. Today with 30 days since they keynote and 14 days since back 2 school would be the perfect date. I don't see tomorrow at all, i could see two weeks from now...but after that it's dangerously close to the iOS device Event and i could see them not bringing it at that keynote because of a pile of stuff to release. I think they released macs at that event before, but before they also did not have a billion iOS based devices and accessory. )(it's probably going to be Septembers keynote just because i speak out against it xD)
Its today, two weeks from now or October. At least we got two leakers saying "stuff is ready" and "iMac eta very very soon"... Sowetans can hope for it not being October.

I always thought most of the releases happened in the next 1-3 hours generally?

I suppose for "press release updates" it usually is a bit earlier in the day than the keynotes. Still could happen two minutes from now, at the top of the hour or in the next four hours. After that i think we are don for this "news cycle".
