How they're going to market the 'new' iMacs is the thing.

Press release?

Back to Mac in October?

Release them together? (Both on sexy new design? More congruous marketing visually.)

Azrael.

I cant see anything less likely than Apple holding an event to debut its AS products and also to throw in an intel device. "here's our fantastic Apple Silicon but we couldnt get that into a 27" iMac so here's an old intel processor for that".😄
Not going to happen. The event would be all about Apple Siilcon and its new devices.

Im confident the rumours are in the ballpark and an Intel iMac is coming, Q3 as Kuo said. Anytiime now, but at least before October.

Excited for this wait to end up with a 5600 maxed out at 3 grand+ god dang I might as well wait for AS and try my hand at game streaming, I don't want a loud PC tower in my darn room, nor do I want to worry about a terrible non apple monitor. Just do something Apple!

wait for AS to try game streaming? what?

Dell Ultrasharp are very far from being terrible. Trust me.
I have tried a myriad of monitors and none are as good as a 4K or 5K retina iMac. I bet the ultrasharep is great but multi thousand dollar monitors aren't as good as the cheapest 4K iMac, Apple/LG makes magic displays. I've been through a few this summer before news of an iMac refresh leaked and anything that isn't LG, $2K+, or an iMac looks to be ***** to my eyes.

I think that may have been the original idea, but I disagree that an announcement of an AS 24 new desgn and a 27 intel "new" design couldn't make a great announcement together. I think it would have more impact and more cohesion. And if there is a new imp coming end of year with micro led or whatever (or not), they could throw a pre-annoucement on that too.

Service called Shadow and others will let you have a PC in the cloud for monthly fee to play games or do anything in Windows really, I have good internet so it think it would suffice for me, I dont like the idea of paying a relatively substantial fee on something I'm not going to own, but I could access it anywhere, on anything, with no overhead on my part but for the monthly fee, sounds killer on an AS iMac, macbook, or my iPad Pro. I already stream games from my 560X iMac to my ipad Pro with Rainway and Steam and it's fun, totally the future with the help of 5G.

Dell U2720Q is pretty nice. Never seen it, but seen many other Ultrasharp and they shine. But agreed that Apple makes the best displays ever.

Launching both at the same time is shooting themself in the foot.

Oh look, here is our new AS iMac.

Oh look, we are still not able to get our sh*t done with higher performing chips, so here is the iMac 27 On Intel.

Read ”fail” here.

Well Regarded.

I've heard decent things about BenQ monitors, creatively and gaming wise.

They don't have the Apple design 'swish' but they're available(!) and have affordability.

Have we considered the possibility that the last Intel Mac, might not be going into an iMac?

I don't see a whole new intel line across the board. We've had Macbook updates. We've had the Mini 'apology' update. We've had the Mac Pro last year (on it's 6 year cycle...) The only thing left is the iMac as the 'rumours' have whispered. That's the only bit of information coming out. iMac. Intel iMac specs. With Ming saying anything from late this year to early next for the iMac 24 AS.

The iMac ala Intel is (if it launches anytime soon) starting to look very close to an AS 'trigger' event in relative time. Two months from now and we're looking at traditional fall timing for Mac events.

As soon as Apple pulls the AS trigger. The consumer transition will fly. Think the Laptops, iMac and Mini will be done within 7 months of one another. They're basically the same thing in different form factors. That's most of the unit sales right there.

With the top end iMac a bit later. And the Mac Pro a bit later than that.

I have been waiting to see if there will be an update to the 21.5 intel iMac and the waiting is getting quite old. I get a sense that only the 27 intel iMac will get an update, but who knows. Is it foolish to order the 21.5 now or should I wait?

If I order the 21.5 today and they announce an updated 21.5 next week, is it going to be that much of an upgrade that and/or price difference that I would regret it? I don’t need to buy now but if there was no hint of an upgraded intel iMac I would not hesitate to order today and then plan to upgrade in two to three years to the new version.

Perhaps the iMac drops late late July (could still happen...given the specs noted...) or squeak in early September before the iPhone event? (Intel's 'big event' for that 10 core Apple are after...) ...and after the Intel event? Those cpus seem to be the hold up? They're not available yet?

Yeah everything is available. Nothing to release at Intel for desktop CPUs before next year. And it will most likely still be 14 nm.

Aye.

I think the unified design would make a great dual announcement.

I'd be very happy with lots of Mac love at the same event...whether Laptop Mac AS and iMac AS/Intel iMac.

It's Apple. They can do it however they want.

But my instinct sez they'll space the last of the Intel iMac and the new AS Macs far apart.

If everything is available...they must be stock piling. The mystery leaker gave out the 'days or weeks' vibe. That would suggest inventory filling. That would put it at late July to early August.

We may yet have a Thursday announcement...

None of the specs mentioned are remarkable.

Marketing wise it's smoother that way.

That's the spirit.

Imminent iMac.

Then there's Back to School promo which ends on September 29th.

I wouldn't look past 'Moneybags' Cook to want to clear out existing iMac stock and have a new iMac design on October 1st.

Heh, heh, heh.

I see what you're thinking.

You can clearly speak Tim Apple supply chain runes.

Azrael.

i bet in less than 10 minutes after the imac is announce we will have a new topic "ordering the new imac" or "benchmark 2020 imac" or something like that

Ofc.

A 5600 isn't spectacular.

Not with an RDNA2 launching IN September. :)

...and AS Macs probably having sound gpu core performance.

And Big Sur will likely be out by September 29th, or it will be in the first week of October.

I'm looking forward to the Big Sur release. Which may provide a timeframe for the AS 'Mac/s' being launched this year.

Azrael.

So, if the latest report is true and iPhone is delayed then we might actually get the iMacs in September as there won't be anything else and then the iPhones will be in October/November with AS updates too. Kinda makes sense also

Including the 'unreleased' low power option that was 'leaked' ala Geekbench?

Intel Sept 2. Have a 'big event.' If this is an unannounced 'low power' version of the 10 core cpu. That would go into an iMac.

It would fit in with 'mystery' leaker saying 'days or weeks' (weeks being 5 weeks away from said Intel event.)

Damn. 5 weeks left to the summer. I just been hit.

It's pushing the 'anytime' rumour to its limit. But the low power part that was leaked would sync with a lower power 10 core needed for the iMac enclosure. If it's unreleased? Then it surely must be tied to the Sep 2 event. Unless it's a custom part for Apple independent of that event.

In that case. It could be 'anytime.'

The GPUs 'Pro' models mentioned by CWallace would be available. As they can be adjusted to higher 'desktop' clocks. Just being versions of what the Macbook Pro has.

Yeah I see. But it still 5 weeks left to the summer 😂
