So based on the last gen, with this gen is around 600$ drop in price for the top model

@gusping
Probably.

My config would be :

27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display

Hardware
  • Standard glass
  • 3.6GHz 10-core 10th-generation Intel Core i9 processor, Turbo Boost up to 5.0GHz
  • 8GB 2666MHz DDR4 memory
  • Radeon Pro 5700 with 8GB of GDDR6 memory
  • 1TB SSD storage
  • 10 Gigabit Ethernet
With 64 GB RAM Upgrade from Crucial Memory.

I've never seen the Nano Textured Glass. I don't know if I would like it ... ?

I am looking at 4190€

i9, 2tb SSD, 16GB GPU, 8GB RAM (hopefully my vendor will keep the discussion we had about the old model and put in another 32gb for free), full keyboard. 5% vendor discount.

I could not be happier. This is all i hoped for! I am getting SO much more for essentially the exact same price i would have payed before.

The point stands, my dude. You wouldn't buy it anyways. And yeah, I'm sure Tim "sardonic statement in quotation marks" Cook is doing fine.

Seriously, want a PC? Just buy one...
Can you read? If they fixed the 2 biggest issues I had (Which I just wrote about), then I probably would buy one... Absolute muppet.

I wonder how much better the 5700 8GB GPU is vs the stock high-end one (5500XT 8GB I think).

The real question for those purchasing one - Magic Mouse or trackpad? I have the upmost respect for those that can use the Magic Mouse. It possibly the worst peripheral I have ever used (trackpad isn't much better imo).

No new cooling system + more cores (at the 'same' TDP) = fire. Come back tomorrow at the same time for the next physics lesson.
Agree...but these cpu and gpu are on new die? 10th gen desktop is on 10nm and the new dGpu are on 7nm? but again if they are on the same TDP...
That can help, not a lot , but a little...i wait to see...im not buying until i have a confirmation that is better....and not worst

The 10th gen desktop parts are 14nm+++++++. Some low-end mobile CPUs are 10nm, but nothing suitable for an iMac. See here: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/u...0900k-processor-20m-cache-up-to-5-30-ghz.html

Good point on the GPU, but it's so much more powerful than what was previously available, I suspect it won't be any cooler.

Just two things.

1. I can add the Apple Care afterwards?

2. How much to buy the 32 gigs of Ram elsewhere?

Azrael.

It's a year out of date and a 4k pretender? It is 'so last year...' (and with the RDNA2 launching imminently...)

But still far better than the 580. Twice as fast. For more than twice as much. And then some on Apple's website...

Have you had time to compose yourself, Azrael?

Yes.

I had my 'agree to anything' for ten seconds afterward moment...

*straightens tie.*

Personally - I love my Magic Trackpad, it's absolutely superb.

I could buy 4x8 gig sticks from Crucial for £140?

And just order the stock 8 gigger?

Azrael.
