I have to say, I'm really liking how the new and improved snapping is working. and thanks to that video I posted, I had no idea that the far right lower corner had a hot spot that when you clicked on it, it showed the desktop (minimized all windows)

Over here
I did a clean install today to get off the Dev builds, all is good so far. Been really enjoying Windows for the last couple of months. I have been using my Mac Mini, not nearly as much. Got Windows set up to do everything I did on the Mac.
Even though I have used (had access to) Windows for must be close to 30 years now since 3.1 I am still very new to it as I never really gave it any time. Was always a gaming device, not productivity.

there
Windows 11 is nice, clean and a step up from 10 (Dell XPS 13" 2019)

just the volume works after a 2nd reboot
and I need to recalibrate the battery
which ate up 2.58 hours in 30 seconds of NHL recaps video.
I might perform a clean install tho

the winOS does feel like an os. which I don't mind anymore.

Watched Snazzys Windows 11 video and wonder why my installation isn’t as smooth and fluid as his. Is it because I actually use it and have tons of stuff installed? Should I perform a clean install? Something I’m not looking forward to… I’m on a P53 with 9th gen i7 and a Nvidia T1000 I think.

can it be my hidpi ultra wide external screen (5120x2160) running scaled? Animations are always stuttering, Windows freezes sometimes…

Using the Surface Go 3 as a tablet touch device without mouse and keyboard was very underwhelming. Expected a much bigger touch improvement. Very disappointing.

As a desktop, laptop OS it's fine though for my use cases.

I recommend a clean install or the reset option at least.

After installing the latest update (I'm out of the insider ring now) Windows sometimes freezes and won't come back. I have to power the laptop down and restart. That never happened once during the beta and now I restarted the machine twice already because of that :(

The dev channel got an update, probably similar to what landed to what the released version got for patch tuesday, but I noticed a really annoying problem. Opening an app that requires admin approval, doesn't matter what - MSI Afterburner, or intel's XTU and after double clicking I wait a solid 22 seconds before I get prompted to run it.

I've been wanting to get off the dev build, so this may be the motivation to do so

Edit:
I'm not sure its completely win11, I think the phenomenon started after installing the epic game store - things really started bogging down after that (regardless of reboots). I may disable the epic services - either way though I think I'll be backing up my data and wiping the drive.

I don't know if this is new tbh, but I definitely wait forever installing applications with admin approvals. I just started the installation of a Logitech software (I think) 3 times because nothing happened a few days ago

I reinstalled windows yesterday, and I forgot about delaying the updates setting yesterday so this morning I have a reboot waiting to finish applying them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Hopefully this doesn't reintroduce that delay.

As of now 21H2 build 2200.194, has no such admin approval delay I'll wait and see how it functions after a reboot. While at one point, I thought it was the epic game store (that thing installs a lot of crap), I have that reinstalled and the system is functioning as it should.

The major goal was to get back to the release version of windows 11, though I was tempted to just back to win10, but I'll give it another shot.

Try this from Command Prompt to get previous behavior.

Code:
reg add HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32 /ve /d "" /f
Here's a reddit post that not only has this but a couple of other settings:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows11/comments/pu5aa3
I've also used this
Code:
reg.exe add "HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{d93ed569-3b3e-4bff-8355-3c44f6a52bb5}\InprocServer32" /f /ve

I suspect I may have to reapply these settings after an update.

Rolled back one of my devices, Lenovo Yoga 6, from Windows 11 to 10 due to delayed movement in Doom Eternal. Deciding if I should roll back the Thinkpad x200 and Surface Pro X and let 11 bake a little longer.

With Windows 11 (ARM) on a M1 (Max), can it now finally run x86 64-bit software in Windows?

It's still work in progress but even when released it's more of a last resort. Virtualization of Windows on ARM then emulation of x64 software will have significant performance and compatibility overheads.

Been running Windows 11 release version on VMware and I like it a lot. Huge difference from early betas. Probably going to upgrade my main desktop next week.

It's nice to see all the same hacks still work on Windows 11. Updates? GONE! Unnecessary background CPU hogging? GONE! Steam updating without permission? GONE!

Take ownership of all the Windows folders and Program Files folders, remove all permissions except user, and disable all write permissions, inherit everything, and bypass a few error messages, and no more change for the sake of change. I got Win11 just as I like it on my gaming rig, and ain't risking it suddenly changing suddenly one morning (or being rendered unbootable). Also enjoying less CPU utilization.

So you've installed Linux? Which distro? :D
