But that's what people do here. There are constantly people bashing Android and Windows and if you disagree you get laughing emoji reaction or if you even say: "I've never had any problems with Android / Windows" you get laughed at. Do you get my idea? Windows just works as well. Even Ubuntu works nowadays out of the box. Do you see my side as well?

I also agree that people are bashing Apple too much, for example on YouTube you read a lot of comments on how Apple slows down older iPhones (which isn't true if your battery was new) and every OS slows down. Even Macs slow down and I am sure in 8 years my MacBook Air M1 won't feel like "day one" as it does now (despite the kernel panics that I get)
I do see your side. Extremists in any form or fashion are just that - extremists. I see a lot more Apple haters here than I've ever seen in all my years here at Macrumors. I see trolls abounding looking for attention and while the mods are doing their best (and a great job), it's been a losing battle for the last few years (not the fault of the mods imo).

Generalizing statements are dangerous. Such as the statement: "Windows PCs are better than Macs." That may be the case for some, but not everyone.

Makes this place a difficult place to enjoy.

But the truth is, there was someone posting that Windows is faster on a Mac than macOS and people were bashing him, but what he said was true. Windows is faster on a Mac than macOS for example.

If you see Apple haters here more than anyone else then you don't really visit other sites… On some sites they'd even behead you for saying that iPhone 5s still receives security updates and they'd absolutely downvote you and bash you to death while statements such as "Apple sucks" get 1000s of upvotes.

Extremists are bad and I agree it's tiring. It's also tiring to hear that Apple is the best at everything and so widely used even though they're not and I have a feeling that Windows will forever remain the most used OS.

What we are doing here is that all of us have gone off topic and we'll always keep arguing. I don't actually see any point of arguing anymore. There's no point anymore.

Point is to enjoy this limited life we have right? Be happy. Try to focus on the positives. Enjoy what you can while you can right?

Hey, hope you have a great day :D

why do you think my unit is defective as in hardware wise?
because its crashing

But why people can't be more open minded
Because people are human and are imperfect. Just like you're trying to justify that windows are superior machines, so are mac people doing the same. The difference is those people are on an apple fan site. You're here at Macrumors and are feigning surprise when you post a pro PC thread and are roundly rejected. Know your audience, there are handful of PC enthusiasts here (I like both) but overall members here find that Macs are a superior product.

Also, I've had problems with Macs
So haven't I. Likewise, I've had problems with PCs over the years. For instance, I had a recent update from MS, totally destroy my system and reset my bios. It was discovered that a driver update for my motherboard was the culprit.

Using your logic, should I have started a thread saying that Macs are better then PCs because updates don't wipe out your system?

And it is sad because windows out of the box and Linux have to support millions of hardware where Apple have very little hardware selection.
This is alleged to be an advantage of Windows. Nice how you turn it around and claim it as a liability. I believe you though. It is a liability, and one of many good reasons to avoid Windows. Supporting all of those different ( but the same ) hardware configurations means lower overall quality, which is why I'm surprised when my work PC doesn't crash and I'm surprised when my Mac does.

The new M1 Macs are not going to be quite as stable as the Intel Macs because well, THEY'RE NEW! If you want the most stable version of anything — not just computers — don't get the very latest and greatest. Wait until it's been out a year or two. An example from outside of computers: I plan on getting a Tesla Model Y sometime around the end of this year. It's a great vehicle, but I'm not willing to spend $50K, even on a great vehicle, if it hasn't been on the market for long. By the time I get mine, the Y will have been shipping for almost two years. That should shake out any significant bugs and allow for other improvements to be made.

I think the M1 Macs are impressive, but my rule remains. I look forward to upgrading to an M1 in another year or two.

Thank you for beta testing for me.

Big Sur is like the old Windows NT. Instead of BSoD you now have Magenta Screen of Death, can't really connect external devices without glitches and every time it flakes out your only recourse is clean reinstall since there's currently no reset. In comparison, Windows 10 is stable almost like Linux.

And have you tried to look for any potentially bad apps that aren't M1 native as I told you twice already? Because kernel panics are usually caused by external devices or 3rd party apps.

OP stated he is using his Mac to run Visual Studio and Unity, neither of which are native apps at this point.

I already reinstalled Big Sur but I can’t create a new account

I’m honestly getting tired of my Mac.

I think I’ll start to cry soon. I just physically turned off my Mac and went into recovery mode and removed all disks using disk utility and now am doing a clean install again…

I missed that, my advice has always been to get the right tool for the job, and I think windows is a better tool when wanting to run visual studio, just my uneducated $.02

Or, at the very least, accept the risks until a native version is available. But seeing how he has a Windows laptop that will run these apps natively and more reliably, he is creating this problem for himself it seems.

Better is subjective... I find both have their strengths and weaknesses... I flip-flop between Windows and Mac quite often. I currently have a Lenovo X1 Yoga (6th Gen) that arrived today and a Galaxy S21. I also currently have a M1 MacBook Air and an iPhone 12...

My thoughts as a basic home user (web, email, office docs, light video and photo editing) are that both Windows and MacOS are great for different reasons.

For continuity and handoff nothing beats MacOS and iOS.. Even though Samsung and Windows play nicely together, MacOS is seamless, painless, and everything just works. With Windows and the S21, it works well enough 75% of the time but it's not an issue free and completely smooth experience..

I have several programs that will not run on MacOS. I use them enough to where I'd have to consider installing Windows on the Mac.. For me, program compatibility wise, Windows easily wins here...

For the GUI look and feel I prefer MacOS but Windows 11 might just change that..

I've had crashes and issues on both OS's. I'd say MacOS might be slightly more stable but not so much so to where either has a clear advantage..

For battery life, the M1 wins and for performance the M1 wins again. As a basic home user, I don't really care too much about benchmarks. Both OS's are smooth and fast for my use. I don't really care if one takes 30 seconds longer to batch process a bunch of photos or encode a video...

When I am using MacOS and iOS I miss things from Windows and Android... When I am using Windows and Android I miss things that MacOS has to offer... Hence the reason I flip back and forth..

Neither is perfect for me or better than the other. They offer different strengths and weaknesses..

I’ll reply later, but umm… how can I create a new account? I just freshly installed Big Sur again and again it’s stuck. Been already waiting for 30 minutes. Can I turn it off? How can I create a new account? Can I boot into Terminal somehow? The mouse moves and Caps Lock turns on the light..

Edit: I know I’m going back and forth but I booted into recovery mode and erased the disk and an again reinstalling Big Sur 🥺

Edit: Got it working. I just reinstalled the entire OS again. I can't say this has ever happened to me, but as I googled it turned out I'm not the only one that has gone through this and this is specifically a Big Sur thing as it'd appear. I hope the next release of macOS will be better.

I'm not so sure if Visual Studio runs that good on my PC. As soon as I start creating WPF apps I'll run into problems and it's the same with one of my other coworkers that has AMD processor for example, but yeah..Unity does run better on my PC than on my Mac. I just freshly installed the OS and will set it up tomorrow when I'm at work. I hope it'll be alright this time. It's been a terrible experience for me.

I have a feeling that Windows 11 will get a lot of hate, but at least you can customise it.

My thoughts as a basic home user
For example my mom uses some old laptop and when she purchased it it had Windows 7, now it has Windows 10 and all she does is sending emails, Facebook, Word, so in that sense, for real, it wouldn't matter what OS she uses. I bet she could even get by with ChromeOS.

It certainly is, because you develop apps for Windows specifically. I think Visual Studio Code are the same on a Mac and on PC. Everybody uses it and tells me how great it is, but I personally disagree.

No, it is better on Windows because it is running natively. And VS allows for creating apps for multiple platforms, not just Windows. .Net MAUI is going to broaden that even more.

Not really you have to activate windows now to move the start menu to the left instead of the centre and the old start menu that windows 10 had you have to hack registry files to get that back.

I've never personally tried Windows 11, so I don't know, but still, I think it'll get a lot of hate for that very same reason.

Is it possible you mean Visual Studio? I believe the OP was talking VS Code.
