Time for a stout from a 16-year old Highland Park cask. Very, very nice whisky beer nose. Flavour: Barrel matured in smoky whisky casks with ham and nutty filter coffee. The second sip reveals dark chocolate with dark berries (blackcurrants?).

They also have other age variants. Maybe next time.

Ah.

I am pretty certain that - around a decade ago - I sampled, (sipped, savoured) some beer from that brewery. They were exceedingly good, if memory serves.

Tonight, I am sipping another beer from Weihenstephaner, their Original Helles.

Makes sense, for health and other reasons. I try to do the same, but I just like the taste so much. It’s been almost one day yesterday, but I visited a friend and I got a glass of beer (the local Pilsner) without any questions asked. Oops.

Well, there is little in life to beat the pleasure of a good chat with a (good) friend over a beer, or glass of wine.

Mind you, notwithstanding the fact that I had decided to impose a more-or-less dry week on myself, yesterday, I still paid a visit to a local spot (that stocks Weihenstephaner) and treated myself to 24 bottles of Weihenstephaner beer.

I expect that they shall be delivered sometime over the week-end.

This comprised six bottles each of Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen Dunkel, Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier, Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier Kristall, and Weihenstephaner Tradition Bayerisch Dunkel.

Now, there were also several bottles of the legendary Weihenstephaner Korbinian winking at me, but I stoutly resisted the temptation they offered, deciding, instead, to forego adding any more to my already adequate stash (for, as it stands, there are seven bottles of Korbinian remaining on my shelves). My next foray to replenish my beer supplies shall include several bottles of Korbinian.

I got myself a Weihenstephaner Helles for the weekend.
Ah, do enjoy.

Actually, I still have a few bottles (all of three, in fact, a deficiency that shall be remedied when I next buy some beer) of Weihenstephaner Helles remaining.
Not today though - I’m out with friends.
Enjoy yourself and I hope you have a lovely time.
I have two people looking for the Korbinian for me now, but no luck yet.
Trust me: You will love it when you finally succeed in laying hands on it; this is a superb beer.

Sure do. Currently enjoying pizza with a few bottles of Erdinger Weißbier; we’ll proceed to our favourite Whiskey bar soon.

I hope so!

Mind you, my beer (purchased yesterday) has yet to be delivered.

I’m positive it will work out for you. In Germany, my Sunday paper sometimes arrives the next Tuesday…

Excellent.

If you enjoyed the Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen Dunkel, and Belgian Trappist beers (the rich, dark, robust ones), I have no doubt that you will greatly savour, relish, thrill to, Korbinian.

Personally, I love it, but will readily concede that it may not be to everyone's taste.

Indeed.

Well, while I am still awaiting my delivery of beer, equally, I feel that it is incumbent on me to point out that my shelves (and cellar) are more than adequately stocked with both beer and wine.

Ah, now I am finally sitting down to an anticipated, well-deserved (well, I think so), and much appreciated beer.

A bottle of Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel has just been opened, bliss, and is now about to be poured.
