Time for another barrel-aged stout, from the Goose Island brewery. Café latte with cocoa nibs. A touch of vanilla. Perfect match for a mature cheddar, which is exactly what I’m having with it.

Sounds absolutely wonderful; do enjoy.

I'd imagine that an aged Gouda would also match well with such a beer.

Solid. Reminds me of Bayreuther Urstoff: not quite complex or “interesting”, but decent and flavoursome. A good evening beer.

My beer (bought last Thursday) has yet to be delivered; thus, this evening, I phoned and chatted with the owner of the store, shop - I had bought the stuff from one of his sons; apparently, there was some sort of a communication lapse, although, in fairness, I had stressed that there was no immediate hurry re the delivery (a message received with delighted and barely disguised glee by the young man).

Anyway, (cue fulsome apologies) I expect to take delivery of my beer tomorrow evening.

I have postponed my hunt for a Korbinian. I broke (or, at least, severely hurt) one of my ribs last Friday, and the medications won’t like too much alcohol. Nevertheless, I plan to have my next beer next weekend, when my favourite pub releases their new jasmine flower beer. I will report!

Enjoy your stock, and good luck with your deliveries. :)

Of course!

I’m having a Bayreuther Urstoff for the night, a lovely Export beer from Bayreuth and my favourite “just a fine beer for the evening, nothing weird, nothing fancy, nothing heavy” beer for quite some time. Tomorrow, I’ll visit my favourite pub with a few friends, starting 5 P.M. (local time). I hope to find a few new tastes.

A few nights ago, I found myself watching (no, I chose to watch this) YouTube accounts of visiting the Weihenstephaner Brewery, and yes, sampling some beer.

Well, firstly, I could ask (rhetorically) how sad is this, and, secondly, I could also comment on how the videos were actually both strangely self-congratulatory and rather unexpectedly uninformed, underwhelming and pedestrian (given that at least two had over-looked the fact that one needed to actually book a tour, and had simply shown up, rocked up, in the vain hope of obtaining a slot on a tour which did not materialise), yet, thirdly, I will also remark that this has in no way diminished my own desire to pay that place a visit (with, needless to say, a proper brewery tour booked in advance).
