I don't think there is any way to control how long watchOS notifications appear. I can't see anything obvious in Apple's settings but maybe someone else knows how to do this?

I definitely have no plans to sell the app!
I would make a Focus that starts when starting a workout (also works with non-apple apps) so you can set which apps are able to send notifications

If I were Apple (and really had ambitious plans for AW sports tracking use cases), I would be making you an offer you can't refuse to make WOD come with every Apple Watch out of the box :p

Any news on the next release with Stryd support?
It's probably about time I came clean and admitted that the next version has been beta testing for a while. I like to start by releasing the first beta to only a few people and then gradually increasing the number. This is because there are a year's worth of changes so I knew there would be lots of issues and didn't want hundreds of people to experience them, and for them all to be telling me at the same time.

Over 200 people have asked to test this version so I am gradually rolling out the beta to them, starting with the people who asked the longest time ago. I am up to about 75 testers at the moment and invite an increasing number extra each week. If there were too many testers then I would not be able to keep up with the bugs and suggested changes (which are much appreciated!), so I am managing the number accordingly.

Apologies to anyone who is still waiting to test the beta. I am keeping track and will soon release it to everyone who has asked. Testing has actually gone a lot better than I expected, and the beta seems to be pretty stable at the moment. However there are a couple of improvements that I need to make as a result of the feedback so far, and I want to include them in the app before rolling out to all testers.

The upshot is that the testing is going well and the release to the App Store will probably be in the next month or two (although it's never wise to trust my release estimates). Sorry that it is taking so long!

Thanks for the update and keep up your high quality work.
Might take more time but will be worth invested. Nothing is more annoying than crashing sports apps.

? ? ?
Can’t wait for routes whilst using my Stryd pod. Will make long off road routes so much easier without having to juggle apps.

A month or two sounds like probably just about time when I get back to hiking/biking regularly again - those topo maps should really come in handy by then ?

Hi, I am new to this forum and I can't find in that long thread if anyone asked the same.
Is there any possibilty to see the same screens on the iPhone during a workout as on the watch? Example. I do a cycling workout and like to see the information on my iPhone mounted on the bike because it is much easier to look on the watch while riding the bike.

At the moment WorkOutDoors is totally focussed on the Apple Watch but in the future I plan to add the ability to show live information on the iPhone as well.

In the long term I want to make the app run standalone on a phone without the need for a watch. This would open up a massive new market, and mirroring the stats from the watch to the phone would be a logical step in that direction. However it is not high on my current priorities. Sorry about that.

Hope this is updated soon. I really want to check it out but have to at least wait until it’s updated for the AW 7

The current version works fine on the AW7 but just doesn't use the full extent of the screens, so it looks identical as on a series 4, 5, 6 or SE. The new version will use the full screens and is currently beta testing. It will be released when that is complete.

With the new beta, if you record a workout with a Stryd, is there a way to get the workout onto the Stryd website/app afterwards?

Not a beta user of WOD so from my past experience with other apps (e.g. iSmoothRun).
Two ways, none of them is very nice.

1) is a manual upload to Stryd Training Center.
2) is an automated sync between Garmin Connect and Stryd Training Center. But requires of course that you upload the WOD workout to GC before which can be done via RunGap for instance.

You can manually export a FIT file (which is now possible with the new version) and then import that into PowerCenter. This will transfer all the metrics including the running dynamics, form power, air power etc.

Stryd don't yet offer a way for apps to send workouts to them automatically but I think they are working on it for the future.

I didn't know about going via Apple Health to RunGap to Garmin Connect. Does that route allow power data to be transferred? The reason I ask is because Apple's Health system doesn't yet allow power to be stored in it (as far as I know).

No, this is not what I meant. You are right, Apple Health does not route power data.

I meant the automatic link between Garmin Connect -> Stryd Powercenter (see here https://support.stryd.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001001353-Link-Garmin-Connect-with-Stryd-PowerCenter).

So the process would be to export the file from WOD to RunGap (e.g. via share sheet). From there, synchronize to Garmin Connect. And the automatic link will distribute to Stryd Powercenter.

As Garmin changed several times their policy if they push 3rd party workouts (workouts not recorded with Garmin devices) via their linked platforms, I am not sure if this approach will still work or if, if it will work in the future also.

Hope this clears it up.

Unfortunately, as you correctly pointed out, Stryd Powercenter is not an open platform when it comes to uploading workouts non-manually from other apps.

Edit: there might be ways to do the same approach with other training platforms (e.g. from Polar, Coros or Suunto) but I am not familiar with these.

The fact that Stryd already offer an automatic connection for Garmin makes me hopeful that it won't be too much work for them to extend it to other apps.

I am hoping that they will implement it in a similar way to Strava, so that I can easily adapt my Strava upload code.

Thanks @NME42 and @cfc

I don't own a Stryd, but it's really hilly where I live (and therefore very windy too), so it's been on my mind for a while.

You can manually export a FIT file (which is now possible with the new version)

Maybe in the future, an automatic save FIT file to iCloud drive might make it a tiny bit easier to deal with manual imports to other platforms.

If I remember right, the RunGap author contacted them in the past. Not successful.
Not really betting on opening their platform to other apps.

From their standpoint understandable. With Garmin and their native app on AW they probably cover 90% of their users.

It is not only garmin that can support upload. Other apps from sportwatch makes does too. However not all are fully automated, if you want all metrics. E.g. Polar flow only support a subset, which means that to get all data, you must, beside the watch, also manually do a sync of the stryd pod, then powercenter will combine the two workouts into one fully featured workout.

There is a support article about pro and cons of different watches with stryd, and couldn't avoid giggling a bit, when they call the Stryd app on Apple Watch Amazing!

Can I make a request for a new feature and a tweak?
I use the Running Intervals for my workouts in Track and Field. A few of my workouts involve the 55 meter run. When setting distance in the interval, I can only choose 50 meter or 60 meter. Can you add the ability to go in 5 meter intervals, so I can do 55 meters? This is important as the workout is timed at the 55 meter point and is critical for the 55 meter event. That's the tweak.
The feature I'd like would be a Pause interval, that I can add to the Repeat interval. I tried the recover interval, but it's not working the way I'd like. I'd like to pause the interval after each iteration, and when ready to start the next iteration, simply tap the watch and start. I added the Pause/Resume button to the interval, but it's difficult to press at the end of the iteration.

About the feature: would it be an option to give each last part of the repeats a "duration type" of "manual"? That way the last part of the repeat must be "ended by user" which can be set via a shortcut for "new interval". This shortcut can be set to (for example) "both side buttons" or even to a (single, double, triple or quadruple) tap on the watch.
