Many of the power based training plans generally prescribed based on percentage of threshold \ Critical power. I have used both power based training plans on Final surge and Stryd and both prescribe based on % of threshold power. Ideally it would be great if the app have the functionality to import the structure workouts directly from final surge but for now having to create it manually in WOD using % of threshold power would make it a little similar than inputing the low and high range for each interval steps.

Probably not a WOD issue with watchOS9:

There is no small icon on the watch face where typically the red indicator is for notifications to jump to WOD anymore? Also not there for Apple training app or "now playing". Do I miss a setting or has Apple removed this feature?

I had strange issue, all alert settings were off.
Had to reconfigure them from scratch. Don't know when and how it dissapeared.

Also on my wifes watch/phone workout was recorded as whole. No laps.
I toggled Auto-laps on/off and now it's fine again.

Auto-laps need to be on for the workout to be split into laps. Are you saying that they were on but it was not being split (which would be a bug)? Or had you switched them off, which would explain it, and now switched them on again which has fixed it?

I plan to add the ability to import schedules at some time, so maybe I will make that an option then.

That would be great. For me I think having the Always On Display and Workout Import\Export feature would made this app invincible. especially for the new AW Ultra which I have in preorder.

I see that Ian can continue programming for the next few years, the users' ideas will not run out.

But everyone values different things. Things like power, stryd etc. are not important to me.

But import from Komoot routes and datafields and graphs like ETA, remaining time/distance/altitude when navigating is a basic requirement for me.

I would say that it's a bug since it was on. Yes, toggling off/on fixed it.

Hello,

Your app is fundamentally the only reason the Apple watch has a chance to compete with the Garmin line. Without it, I wouldn't even own an Apple Watch. I hope you continue to support this app for years to come or have a long term strategy to keep this app going forever haha. I am really interested in having the 49mm screen size update right away. Have you come to a decision yet if this will go out as a beta update or a public update soon? If you decide the beta route, I would love to become a beta tester because I have an Apple Watch Ultra coming next Friday that I would want to test the app out on day one out of the box. Whats usually the process to join the beta? Thanks.

I will take a look. 3 or 4 people seem to have made the "mistake" of disabling auto-laps recently so there could be a bug I need to fix.

I plan to release the watchOS 9 version to the App Store before the Ultra has been released. This will include the changes I made for the 49mm screen (using Apple's simulator) so hopefully it will work on the real devices.

So hopefully there won't be a beta when the Ultra is released, until I release the first beta for the next version, which will have support for the action button. Apple still haven't released official documentation on how apps will be able to use it, but the unofficial hints look worryingly over-complicated.

Thanks for your kind words about the app!

I don't think Apple make that available to third party apps. I plan to add a Target Workout feature in the future that works like the current Target Pace function. This provides metrics showing how far ahead of or behind the target you are, and also has an optional yellow dot on the map to indicate the position of someone moving at the target pace.

The ability to "snap" to the nearest mile/km when you pass a marker post is on my list of features to add. It wouldn't require the action button. It would be another command that you can use the Shortcut settings to associate with any action (including the action button on an Ultra). It isn't particularly high on the list at the moment but will rise as result of your request.

Glad you like the app!
Ian this "snap to the mile marker" feature sounds amazing for using the app to keep pace during races. Consider this a +1 to that request.

Hey there, do you think it will be easy to adopt the multi sport functionality apple just added into WOD app? That would be quite fun. And solve my problem where Strava doesn’t always read native apple health run pace correctly.

Would also love this functionality - especially if it could include % of threshold power. Currently I'm having to manually adjust using actual watts values for intervals. If my threshold power changes it will be much easier to update if intervals could update based on a %.

I find this Feature exciting
Does the next version of WOD supports these new feature, automatically calculated training zones?

The next version has power zones, which are based on a threshold power. You can specify interval targets in terms of the power zones, so if you do change the threshold power then the interval targets will change automatically. You would still have to calculate the zone from the percentage, but only the first time and it should be easy given the calculator in the power zones settings page.

It sounds like I will be adding a power intensity target type for intervals in the future.

No. Zones will still need to be entered manually. Sorry about that.

I try to avoid subjective calculations like that because I don't have the knowledge to create an algorithm that would automatically calculate zones. I leave that to the experts.

Multi-activity workouts are on my list, but quite low down because they are less requested than other features and because they would be a lot of work. I will get round to them eventually though.

+1! All my runs have targets based on % of CP, so would be superb to just change the CP setting once and have all schedules reflect the adjusted power targets in wattage automatically.

What is with the new precision timer for the Ultra? Is there a change to get this?
See at 07:59 Starting a workout changes

Hi Ian,

I'm on the beta so have access to the power zones already. Unfortunately my running interval schedules require a bit more granularity for ranges than zones e.g. an easy run may be low zone 1 or high zone 1. I suppose I could just change all the zone targets but I believe the number of zones (6) and names are all fixed? Adding intensity targets would be great. However given my threshold power hasn't changed for 6 months it isn't a big issue!
