I had the same thought as you a few months ago. I thought I got them using WoD - in reality I got these badges before WoD.
It looks like there may have been a change made... perhaps because the watch is no longer needed for Fitness+ in iOS 16? Anyway... today I got a "7-workout week" badge, and all of my workouts have been WOD walking.

I've been using WOD everyday this week - and I can only think of one thing I'd like to have added (if it's here and I am missing it in options I apologize):

Currently I get a notification every 1km that shows my pace which is great!

Is it possible to have the km markers you have travelled (1, 2, 3 etc) recorded and shown on the map? Maybe a little red number on your breadcrumb trail?

Reason being that I often hike without planned routes. I have no idea how far I will hike, or what route I will take. However when I start heading back, sometimes I come across the path I took going out - but I don't know how far back that is to the start. If there were KM markers, and I intersect near the '3' for example, I'd know it's only 3 km back and can plan my return accordingly (follow breadcrumb back or take another path to extend for more distance etc)

Hope I've explained it ok...

TIA - appreciate the work you put into the app and the forum 👏

Or... It could be because all of my workout history since 09/03/22 has disappeared from WOD, but still is in Fitness?

I did get a new phone today. At first I thought that for some reason some of the WOD history just didn't transfer over. But it's not in my old iPhone, either, and no history is in my watch. So I am confused.

Thanks for being so super responsive here in the forum. Very much appreciated.

I would not mind to have first the easy solution implemented. This would cover at least 95% of all my use cases and can always get improved later on ;)

Currently trying out different data you can put on the screens. This app has so many options :)
On my run today I tried out many of the graphs and found some issues with some of them.
Graphs like Heartrate and Speed start for the first meters/minute quite low and go up very steep. That means that there is very little room to show the important part of how the graph develops during the run as the big ramp up takes most of the chart space and everything else is happening the top 20% of the chart. As graphs currently always show the whole duration of the workout I found no way to get around that limitation. I think it would be great to have the option to cut off the first minute (or so) from the graphs or to ignore the warm up phase when working with intervals or any other option to cut off the initial ramp up phase.
I have been considering improving the graphs for a long time, with some logic to make the range smaller, and also maybe to add recent graphs (e.g. last 10 minutes, or last lap, interval etc). However I think you are the first person to ever mention it so it hasn't been a priority. It is on the list though.

Maybe Komoot can help you with turn-by-turn?

Komoot provides everything you need to add turn-by-turn navigation to your app or device. No setup fee, no monthly fees - no hidden costs.

Komoot Connect

Komoot API
I am considering a compromise solution for turn by turn where WorkOutDoors will only provide directions if they are contained in the GPX route file. Komoot are one of the many places that can generate GPX files with directions, so it hopefully wouldn't be too much of a limitation.

I don't think anyone has ever asked for that but it sounds useful.

You can currently see the distance back to the start (in a straight line) by tapping the green compass in the bottom left of the map. It always points to the start and tapping it shows the distance and a written description of the direction. (e.g. "3km ahead")

My guess is that watchOS or iOS got confused and stopped sending the workouts from the watch to the phone. When this happens it is usually (but not always) fixed by rebooting both devices. You can then manually send the workouts from the watch to the phone and everything is fine.

However it sounds like you didn't notice that they weren't being transferred and then switched to the new phone. Unfortunately Apple do not preserve the data on the watch when you get a new phone (annoyingly!) so your workouts on the watch were erased. Usually this is fine because they are stored on the iPhone as well, but in your case they hadn't got copied there.

Sorry about that. It's just unlucky that you lost the data from both devices. At least the workouts are still in the Fitness app. Every workout gets stored in 3 separate places (watch app, phone app, Apple's Health system) so they are usually available somewhere.

I'm trying to look at it as "at least I got that 7-workout week" badge! 😉🤪

Love this app regardless. Thanks for the response.

Ok, thanks for the heads up on the green arrow. "As the crow flies" can be different - but sometimes that's really all I need to know.

Still, if it that feature ever happens then you have 1 person who finds it useful 🤣 Thanks for the response.

I’ve been using WOD for 2 years and agree it is by far the best Topo maps solution for the Apple Watch. Thank you for such an excellent app!

When Apple announced the new HR zones graph in June, I immediately wished WOD had an implementation similar to this. Then last month you mentioned in this forum that the next version of WOD would have an HR zones graph at the bottom of the screen similar to Apple—which I was thrilled to read!

Any chance you’re willing to post a screenshot of what this looks like? I know you plan to release the new version soon, but the anticipation is killing me… =)

Here are a couple of screenshots of the heart zones strip at the bottom and one using the "two small metrics" option, which has always been in the app but which I have improved in the new version. The small metrics are probably too small to be seen when you are moving fast but could be useful for hiking and other slower activities.

There are also options for a pace zones strip or a power zones strip at the bottom, and also an auto-zones option where it uses the profile of the screen to decide which strip to show. So it would show the pace zones for Pace, Speed or Target profiles and power zones for the Power or Stryd profiles. Otherwise it shows the heart zones strip.

This version is currently being reviewed by Apple, so fingers crossed.

I have a few questions and perhaps feature requests regarding Training Schedules

Voice Metrics

Is there an easy way to match Voice Metrics to Screen Metrics? Usually I want the watch to read me the same metric I have on the screen. But currently the only wat I found is to set it up twice for Voice and Screen metrics.

Map and Workout Target Pace

Is there a way to define per Schedule what map to use and what the Workout Target Pace should be?
It would be great to have that all in one place without the need to go to settings and select a map and target pace before every workout. That would not only save time but rescue me from forgetting to change it…

Pre defined Intervals

It’s great to have predefined intervals to easily create schedules. But for me the 7 options are not sufficient, having the need for different Steady and Fast Interval Targets. I’m currently working around that by copy/pasting old Schedules and using them as template, but it would be even better if it was possible to create additional custom Intervals.

There isn't a way to copy the screen metrics to the voice metrics. No-one has ever asked for that. I will bear it in mind if more people request it.

Again no-one has ever asked for a target pace associated with a whole workout. You can set up a target pace for each interval and a generic target pace, but not a pace for a schedule. I am not sure what you mean about the map: do you mean the source, the colour scheme, or maybe a route?

I plan to allow interval schedules to be imported and exported so I may revisit the interval types, but again I can't remember anyone ever asking for more types.

Thanks for the feedback. Sorry that none of the changes are in my short term plans.

This is excellent, thank you! I like what Apple did, but I do NOT like that you have to scroll through several screens in order to see HR zones, elevation graph, and miles. It’s great to be able to see all of this in one screen with WOD.

Is there any way to load an entire world offline map, or at least a continent with less details? For example: Garmin lists North America as 9GB, I think the AW usable space is 8GB?

There's also an app called Footpath which I believe can generate GPX with directions. I use this for plotting routes up mountains and exporting to WoD.

Sorry no. I have to pay for every tile that is downloaded, so that isn't feasible with the one-off payment.

Yes, I will try to make any turn-by-turn feature compatible with Footpath.

Is anyone seeing a completely purple screen when looking at a past workout or route on the iPhone app with the latest version of the app? I released it a few hours ago, but on a very limited schedule and someone has already reported this. I looked at my version and I am seeing the same on iOS 16 but not on iOS 15.

This version has been tested by almost 200 people for a week or so, including many on the beta of iOS 16. It has also barely changed from previous versions which have been tested for many weeks, so I suspect it may something in the release version of iOS 16. Can anyone else see the purple screen?

Nope. Running iOS 16.0.
Thanks. Have you downloaded the version released today: 4.6.5?

Both myself and the person who reported it have a iPhone 14 Pro so I am wondering if it is specific to that. It's a small sample size but I can't reproduce it on other devices.

yes, 4.6.5. On a 13 Pro.
Thanks. I think I have found the problem and it looks like a bug in iOS16 for the iPhone 14 Pro. I use Apple's 3D drawing system (Scene Kit) for the map and that has an option called "multisampling". When that is enabled the whole map is purple, and when it is disabled then it works fine.

So I will be releasing a bug fix release as soon as possible. Although it will be more of a workaround for an iOS 16 / iPhone 14 Pro bug.

It would be interesting if anyone else is seeing it who has an iPhone 14 (non-pro), just so I know what models it affects?

Hopefully if any other developer Googles SceneKit and purple then they will see this post.

Yes. I'm seeing that. I'm on iOS 16 and an iPhone 14 Pro.
