Those are raster tiles rather than vector tiles, so I couldn't use them. However I could probably find a similar source of vector tiles, or use an OpenStreetMap tool to create them.

My main concern is that transferring country sizes maps to the watch would take a very long time. The communications between the phone and the watch can be flaky even for small files so I don't even want to consider gigabyte sized transfers.

I am not ruling it out completely but it isn't high on my priority list. That may change because I have had more requests for it in the last week than in the last 5 years put together. This is due to Garmin users considering the Ultra and being accustomed to having a whole continent of maps on the watch.

However Garmin have complete control over the watch, whereas developers such as myself are restricted by what Apple offer us. This is a pretty flexible environment but it is geared towards small apps, usually with usage time measured in seconds. It isn't really designed for an app to have several Gigabytes of map data.

Also I expect that Apple are working on implementing this themselves. They have far more control and could do a far better job than I could, so I don't want to spend time implementing data transfers that will probably be unwieldy and maybe unreliable, only to have Apple provide it later. Especially as there is a good chance they will make it available to developers anyway.

Sorry about that.
Thanks for the very detailed explanation!

Been trying to get into this app but can't, I think its more I bought the wrong size of watch, 40mm I struggle to see text at a glance when running. Coming from a Garmin I only really need 4 things, Time, Distance, Pace, Heart Rate. Is it possible just to have these 4 things on screen and make them as big as possible?

Go to the Screens tab and try changing the layout option to the 3rd one (several large metrics above a line of smaller metrics). Then change the font size to what you want to see as shown in the screenshots.

Also if you have trouble seeing the screen then you may want to make use of the voice features. For instance you can configure the 1 mile notification to speak up to 5 different metrics. To do this go to the Alerts settings on the Settings tab of the iPhone app.

Or you can use one of the Status Update alerts, which allow you to hear whatever metrics you want in response to whatever gesture you want. So for example you could configure it to tell you your time, distance, heart rate and pace when you shake your wrist.

Or maybe a combination of these would work, with the screen showing a couple of large metrics and the ability to shake your wrist to hear more.

When I'm running and using Strava on my AW for beacon, I can't enjoy the WOD(never tried both apps the same time by the way). I couldn't find any settings for safety when I'm running with WOD.

I know it's too much to ask for an option like Strava Beacon on WOD.
But... going to be great for WOD if there is an option for the AW Cellular when I start running with a map/routes to send a screenshot with the map to any of my contacts. In that way, even if not a beacon, there will be an ETA back or the area where I would be in the next hour etc. Thanks lol

Happen to me with a 45mm watch. After, I had to spend 2 hours with the app to see and play with settings, out for a run to test and again change settings—worth the time, in my opinion.

Good afternoon, I just purchased the app this morning.. this is a perfect app to replace Garmin interface and I love it so much .

I just wish to ask is it possible to change the background color of the heart rate bpm based on the heart rate zone. It will be nice if this feature is available . Hope to get a response soon. Attached is the sample screenshot.

No-one has ever asked for that compromise of sending a screenshot. I don't think it is possible for an app to automate sending an email. It can probably compose one and then you would need to press send, but it sounds a bit clumsy.

If the person you are informing has an iPhone then it's best to use the Find My app, which will publish your location to them.

Thanks for buying the app. I am glad that you like it!

I have had a few requests for the background or foreground colour of the heart rate fields to reflect the zone, so it is on my list, but not high on the list at the moment. It does seem useful and relatively easy, so I will do it at some time, but other features are higher priority at the moment.

You may want to set up the heart zones strip at the bottom of the screen. To do this go to the "Screen Bottom Line" screen in the Settings tab of the iPhone app or "More" and then "Bottom Line" in the watch Settings.

No, it's at the bottom of this screen:

ZoneStrip.png

And can be configured on this screen (Screen Bottom Line in the Settings tab):

ZoneStrip2.png

It currently only shows the zone, but people have asked to be able to show the bpm in the future.

Today, AW Cellular is the best smartwatch out there for health and, fitness + safety. Always when cellular available. With the AW Ultra, I think many would activate their Cellular plan for the watch.

WOD is the best fitness app on Apple Store for Apple Watch. Any safety option through the app could be a game changer for many of us. When you have time for that, you can think about something.

A screenshot with the map/route was just an example, or a simple SMS from the watch when you start exercise with WOD, like “I'm in the park close to home, will be back in 2 hours.”, could be interesting, lol. Why not? I don't know if that is possible. Using the GPS from the app with the location and setting up a kind of SMS, pres send and run ).

A live Beacon is the best option, and I'm sure many will pay an extra fee to use it, but probably highly complicated to implement it; no idea.

I will bear it in mind, but it won't be high priority at the moment. Sorry.

How's the interval option for this?
I'm looking into this app for HIIT runs at 30 seconds maximum running and 1 minute of walk for like 25:30

Minor bug report or maybe misunderstanding on my part. In shortcuts I have configured Tap On Metric to Show Screen Metrics, trying to emulate what many other workout apps do, namely letting you quickly and easily change what metric to display. It does take me into a screen configuration, but not for the current display and always the same configuration page.

It's intended to show the description of the metric so that the user can be clear as to what it is showing. There is no intention for editing the metric because I didn't even think about that.

No-one has ever suggested it before either, but it sounds a good idea, so I will bear it in mind for the future.

EDIT: Sorry I understand now. The default is the showing of info but you have changed it to showing the Screen Metrics settings page. If I change it then think will make the default show the info for the current metric but also show an edit button to allow that metric to be changed.

Is it possible to automatically import gpx files from an iCloud folder or through Shortcuts? I save files from GPX studio and would like to import them into the app automatically.

Not that I know of. The app accepts GPX files through the standard sharing mechanism on iOS but I don't know if that can be configured to do anything automatically.

I am using a stride with WOD. Btw: The app is great. I am sick of the different calibration factors between shoes. That's why I changed the source for pace to "Apple Watch"
The pace seems fine but there seems to be an issue with the export (see screenshot). There was never such an unstable pace during the run.

That would be the best solution. But even the existing function would/could work, if it showed datafields setup for the correct [current] screen.

I don’t like to investigate third party systems and how they calculate their pace graphs. It is something that is usually (but not always) out of the control of the app.

I may investigate in the future when things quieten down and if enough people mention it, but it is the sort of thing that usually takes a lot of time just to conclude that I can’t do much about it. Sorry about that. Things are a bit manic at the moment.

So sorry if this has been asked/discussed too many times in the thread already, but: Does this app support the new Ultra, and utilize its Action Button?
