WOD uses Apple's workout system and at the moment the app only has one profile for an Apple activity. In the future I plan to add the ability to create custom activities that map to an Apple activity.

This has been on my to-do list for years but has risen up it recently and is probably third in line after AOD and navigation improvements.

A small solution would be, that you give us the possibility to hide some data screens?

Could this be implemented/coded faster?

For me this would be enough and i don‘t need different profiles.

I have considered that and it is a possibility. I will look into it at some time. It won't be in the next version though because I want to keep that stable until it is released after watchOS 9.2.

You‘re the best. I‘m happy when this come very early.

But before we know that AOD, Action Button and navigation is coming. Wow, what a big update. 👍

If I got it right, the next update will "just" implement the action button. Navigation will come later and AOD will only work based on Swift UI, which means a lot of re-coding?
But if we are lucky, I got it wrong... ;)

Looking forward to use the action button!! :D

That is correct- sorry if it sounded like they will all come soon.

The action button will be in the next version, which will be released after watchOS 9.2 is released by Apple. After that it will take several months for AOD and/or navigation.

Elevation gain for indoor running (treadmill)
Is there any chance to record the elevation gain while running on a (stupid ; - not a smart one) treadmill? Eventually with a compatible iPhone app that transmitts manually entered incline%?

I will look into that when I revisit the sensor functionality at some time in the future. That won't be for a long time though.

Different features are important to different people. Both the AOD and the navigation improvements seem to be equally requested.

My plan at the moment is to focus on AOD first (which I have been doing in the background for a while) because I want to be sure that the map in particular is possible.

I am pretty sure that I can code up the navigation features without too many problems. They should be possible and will just take a lot of time. The AOD will also take time but I want to know what restrictions there will be, if any. At the moment there are many unknowns with coding up the AOD, not least because of the need to use a completely different coding language.

That’s not to say that at least some of the navigation improvements won’t come first. Once I understand what is and isn’t possible with the AOD then I may be sick of it and want a change.

So it is up in the air at the moment as to which will come first.
As someone who has a Watch SE, I would absolutely be happy if you do decide on implementing the navigation features first! That feature is probably the one thing that might complete the circle for me in terms of my hiking experience!

Although, I've had a few issues with incorrect distances on my last few hikes, despite taking a couple of walks as part of the calibration method suggested by Apple. Maybe I might have to redo the calibration part by walking at a constant "normal" pace and try if that works I guess.

I accidentally removed my last workout, is it possible to restore it?

Keep up the great work!

Hello is it possible to have a rep counter when in Weight Training mode?

Also is it possible to get to the “Now Playing” music controls via swipe (perhaps as one of the screens?) instead of long press?

If you deleted it on the phone and the workout is still on the watch then you can find it in the Workout History, select it, and tap Resend to iPhone.

I don't have any plans to add a rep counter. I leave that sort of functionality to specialist weight training apps. Sorry about that. Maybe one day but not any time soon.

The Now Playing controls must be in a separate screen, so I cannot make them one of the workout screens. However you could configure a swipe left or right to display them by configuring this in the Shortcuts screen of the Commands settings. You will not be able to swipe to close the screen though. It will have to be closed in the normal way.

It's a watchOS bug. WatchOS 9.2 fixes it. In the meantime, you have to reinstall WOD after each reboot to get the action button working again.

You need to reinstall the watch app. And after that it is best to send all the settings etc from the iPhone app to the reinstalled watch app. To do this go to the Settings tab on the iPhone app and tap File Management. Then tap Send Yesterday's Watch Settings and Send Screens to Watch and Send Interval Schedules to Watch (if required)

This is why I can't release the current beta until after Apple have fixed watchOS. It is fixed in the latest beta of watchOS 9.2, so I plan to release the beta after that.

Just to clarify: you only need to reinstall the watch app. Do not reinstall the iPhone app or you will lose your data.

Quick question: Is there a way to configure the 2 side buttons to end a run? Currently, they can be configured to perform pause and lap. It will be good in a race to use the 2 side buttons to end the run at the end of the race. My fingers can be wet with sweat at the end of the race and it may be challenging to end the run using the watch face. Thank you.

Yes, go into the settings on the iPhone app and go to shortcuts and configure it there. Then send it to the watch by clicking "send" at the top right.

I knew there must be a way to do this since the WorkOutDoors app is one of the most configurable in the market. Thank you for your pointer.

What is the scope of the navigation you're interested in including in WOD? One killer feature on my Garmin Epix is the ability to on-the-fly plot a turn-by-turn route back home. I use this to make sure I arrive back home on time. I.e. if I ask my spouse to watch the kids while I do a 60 minute run, I want to make really sure I'm back on time. So I enable navigation on my Epix and watch its estimated time to arrival based on the routes I take.

It was also really nice having this while I was hiking. Following a preloaded route is nice, but sometimes we like to take detours or cut a route short or whatever. Having it update in real time would be amazing.

That's really a brilliant feature on the Garmin watches with maps. And it took them years to get where they are now and from my point of view they are absolute benchmark with these hiking/track/maps features on watches.
That said I am very curious where WOD will go in this aspect over the next month.

That won't be in the first version with improved navigation. The map data I use is designed for display rather than routing and it would cost money to use a server to calculate directions (and also require a data connection), so route calculation on the watch is unlikely.

If I can find a system that offers offline routing for trails (not just roads) for a reasonable price then I might make it a paid extra in the future, but I am avoiding paid extras at the moment.

Another possibility if I ever get time is that I may try coding my own routing system that uses the map vector tiles. As I say they are really designed for display purposes but they contain the road/trail data so it is theoretically possible. Also it would be a fun challenge, like when I first wrote the maps. However I doubt that I will get the time anytime soon.

Maybe I will try it when Apple eventually release their own offline maps and "Sherlock" that aspect of the app! If they don't offer offline routing then I may take a look.
