Ok. Got WOD to launch again, phew. Had to delete about 20 workouts - went through one by one flipping between safe mode and normal mode until the app opened again. Then manually sent the deleted workouts from the watch to the phone. Once opened the app in normal mode, the graphs / maps on the left side appeared again. All is working again thanks @cfc! What was the root cause of the issue and how can this be avoided for future awareness?

The watch app sends a workout in a file to the iPhone app, and very occasionally the file gets corrupted when it is transferred. Unfortunately there is nothing the app or the user can do about it.

It is extremely rare (I hear of it maybe once every month or two) and has only been happening for less than a year, so my assumption is that something has been broken in the file transfer code in iOS and/or watchOS. Probably in one of the later versions of iOS 15 / watchOS 8 and it hasn't been fixed in iOS 16 / watchOS 9.

Note that if you had switched on safe mode and then tried to open each workout on the iPhone app until one caused a crash then you would only have had to delete that workout, rather than deleting so many of them. Fortunately it is so rare that you are very unlikely to get the problem again.

hi Ian. Had an issue with the app this morning where a long press just brought up a menu to resend or remove the workout, not the usual menu to save etc. I restarted the watch and the workout came up as recovered. I’m assuming this is a glitch as I’ve only seen this once before out of many many recorded workouts… anything else it could be?

Love the app, thanks

@cfc

What is wrong with my settings or is this a bug?

See Screenshot

The sensor is paired and I get a success before start. But when I start a activity WOD disconnect the sensor.

What is the matter 😳

Please send the wkt file for that workout to info@workoutdoors.net and I will take a look. To do this tap the Export button 3 times quickly.

Hello,

Thank you very much for the application!

I would like to know if it is possible to set up several notifications at different intervals. For example: 5 km - 8 km - 11 km?

Thank you.

Not by using the standard alerts, but you could create an interval schedule with intervals of the appropriate distances.

hi @cfc I'm playing ice hockey tonight and noticed there is no type for hockey (but there is on Apple’s Workout app). Is there a way to create custom types? I want to ensure it’s tagged properly when I view in HealthFit. Thanks

There is no way to create custom types at the moment but it has been rising up my to-do list recently. Probably third or fourth on the list after AOD, navigation, and maybe FIT import of schedules.

Ok thanks @cfc if I were to record on Apple Workout, could I import into WOD?
Sorry, no. If I allowed workouts created by other apps to be imported then any problems with those apps would mean that I would need to investigate their bugs, which I do not want to do. Unfortunately all apps can have problems, including Apple's app (and definitely including WOD :) ).

I've just been experimenting with Komoot, created a route, downloaded it but when I click import on the WoD iPhone app the route never appears?

Anyone use Komoot successfully with WoD?

actually works fine. It's very easy: from the Komoot app in a tour, tap the top right "..." then export GPX file. Select WOD as the target app to export it to (You might have to tap "... More" first to get the full list of apps)

Weird, that's what I did just from the webpage?

The most common reason I hear about for GPX routes not being loaded is if the file is not actually a GPX file (even though it may have a GPX extension). This often happens when people are downloading from a website and somehow download the html file for that webpage but with a GPX extension.

So it's worth making sure that you are downloading a GPX file for the route and not just using an export function for the webpage or for something else that isn't the route.

If you can't get it working then please email the file to info@workoutdoors.net and I will take a look.

Hi Ian,

I love you app! Really nice.

But today i had exactly the same as oboe5150!
Today I used the action button to start a workout for the first time. The app presented me directly a running workout and everything was fine. I did my workout and came back to my home where I tried to stop the workout. But that was not possible. A long push just showed the options „resend to phone“ and „remove from watch“. I checked the settings of long push on the phone but everything was fine. The app was stuck in the workout, not able to stop and finish it. Then i hit „remove from watch“ and I came back to my last workout from last week - I was on the overview-screen with the done-button at top.

My workout was gone. Thanks to @oboe5150, I tried to restart the watch and yeah, the workout was back there as „recovered“! Great!

Maybe after the last workout I did not push at the „done“ button. So that the app was still all the time at this overview? (This happens often to me)
I was not able to reproduce the issue.

I have 2 bikes with different cadence sensors. In the WOD Settings I must choose one for recording the cadence, only one.

What is, when I‘m riding my second bike? Did I must change the setting for cadence before every ride?
Also it would be great to have two different Bike Profiles. MTB and Roadrace. Because i measure different data in the woods and on the road. I think then you can use two sensors. In my opinion there are more people biking who want to measure their fitness data as fot table tennis or horseriding. It would be great to get an edit-function for profiles.

For example cyclists who use power sensors probably don't analyse the workouts in Apple's Health system because that does not store power for cycling (and didn't store it for running until recently). So WOD or a third party system is better for them.
But what does it mean in WOD under „more settings“ : „Save Cycling Power Data to apple health“ ?

Works perfect ! And the best: you can turn the route clockwise or countclockwise in WOD

Sorry, I missed that previous post. That sounds very strange. I can't guess what would cause it. Those menu options are for a workout in the workout history so I don't know why they would appear during a workout.

Please could you send me the wkt file for the workout and I will take a look. To do this tap the Export button 3 times quickly and email it to info@workoutdoors.net. Also, please could @oboe5150 do the same. Thanks.

I have been waiting for years for Apple to add separate activity types for MTB and road cycling, but they never do.

In the future I plan to allow the ability to create custom activity types that map to Apple’s types, so you could add separate MTB and road cycling activities. This sort of functionality has been requested a lot recently so has risen up my to-do list.
