Is there any way to remove the shading from "Back" "GPS Accuracy" and "Time"?
Or is it a bug?
Thank you!
They are deliberately shaded to make them clearer. You can remove the background for the time in the Map settings (or make it darker).

Hi everybody,
I don't find where is the countdown for each interval !
Could you help me ?
By default you should get a countdown at the end of each interval. If you cannot hear that then can you hear the description at the beginning of each interval? If not then please check your Siri volume is loud because the app uses Siri to speak.

All my custom screens and workout history disappeared on the watch. I can't pinpoint what I did wrong, because of course I did multiple things at the same time sorry. I recently upgraded to 5.2.7 on the phone (and on the watch app store to update my AWU to 5.2.7 as well). I run watchOS 9.6.1 and iOS 17.0.2. I just upgraded the phone to a new iphone almost simultaneous with updating workoutdoors.

Currently, WOD on the AWU only shows about the last week of workouts (the time since upgrading). However, if I load "workouts" on the phone app, I see a comprehensive history including workouts prior-to-upgrades, as well as workouts in the last week or so.

Custom screens, same. WOD on the AWU shows what I vaguely remember as the default screens. Same is true for most default settings, for example, 3 second countdown is on again even though I have always kept that disabled. However, looking at the screens in WOD on the phone, I see what I have been using for a long time as my personal customized screens. I guess since I can still see them on the phone I can recreate them without a lot of trouble, but I feel like something about the sync between WOD phone and WOD watch is not happening (again note, when I go do a new workout on WOD on the watch, it does populate into the comprehensive phone workout history).

I really feel like I saw someone else post a similar comment about custom screens and you gave an as-always helpful answer but I can't find it and my situation seems slightly different.

As a US triathlete, here are a couple backburner feature requests...
- pace per 100 yards in swimming workouts
- multisport workout

Thanks so much for the incredible app. This app brought me as a longtime garmin user to being able to do everything on the apple watch, which for me is awesome because I was so tired of changing watches back and forth all the time.

All best,
John

Hi!
I have an AW 7 (WatchOS 10) and since I updated Workoutdoors to new version I noticed that when I start a new running training the hearth rate stops and it shows the numbers on gray color for 8-10 minutes and then it start working as spected. I checked that the green lights of sensor are activated.

This occurs me every running training. I restart the watch every time but the problem remains

It sounds like you have lost the data on the watch app as one of the changes. Unfortunately Apple do not preserve watch app data when you change your iPhone so I suspect that was the reason.

However you can easily send the data from the iPhone app to the watch app. To do this go to the Settings tab and tap File Management and then "Send Yesterday’s Watch Settings", "Send Screens to Watch” and “Send Interval Schedules to Watch” if necessary. If you want then you can also send routes or workouts individually. They can’t all be sent at once because they are too large.

In terms of your requests I plan to improve units at some time in the future, including showing pace/100m for swimming, pace/500m for rowing, knots and nautical miles for sailing, etc.

Multisport is less likely because it would be a lot of work and is surprisingly rarely requested (at least relative to the amount of work it would require). I tend to think of improvements in terms of major and minor and multisport is a major feature, which means that it would require multiple months of work and I would plan a release just for it. For example the always on display was a major feature and the navigation improvements will also be major. At the moment there are a few major features ahead of multisport so it probably won't be in the app for a while. Sorry about that.

Do you use the precision start screen to wait for a lock on the HR before you start running? It is much harder for the watch to get a lock when you are running than when you are static. To do this either tap the 3 dots icon on the right and then tap Open Workout, or you can configure it to always use precision start in the Start Options settings.

However it may just be that the sensor is not working well for you. The heart rate not updating is a common issue with the wrist sensor. It is getting better each year, so I think the hardware and/or software are improving but it is still a problem for many people.

Apple have some hints on how to help here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207941#heartrate. I have also heard that wearing the watch on the other wrist can help for a few people, maybe because their blood vessels are closer to the surface on that other wrist.

However even these hints don't help for some people and then I recommend using an external heart rate monitor, which work in a very different way. They detect electrical impulses whereas the watch sensor beams a light into your wrist and detects heart beats from the reflections. However the effectiveness of this varies between people (tattoos, deeper blood vessels etc) and is also greatly affected by cold and also by motion. Some people only use an external monitor in the colder months and can get by in the warmer months, but a few people need it all year round.

To add my perspective/insight, I've had accuracy issues with wrist-based HRM while running with pretty much any device. Chest strap HRM's are also problematic for me due to chafing. What I've started to use is the Polar Verity Sense (https://www.polar.com/us-en/products/accessories/polar-verity-sense). It's still optical, but wearing this just above my bicep really helps with accuracy. Not going to be quite as good as a chest strap, but I think it's a solid compromise.

This is exactly what I needed, thanks so much! Easily got my custom configs and custom screens back by following your instructions. And I think I understand that workout history on the watch can never be recovered. Any new phone purchase will yield loss of historical workouts on the watch. No big deal as it is all still there on the phone. Just odd apple behavior that a new phone dumps all watch data.

Love the app and thanks for the guidance!

I noticed two times, that i got a blank black frame after wristing my arm while a training. Before , it shows GPS and time. Starting a new training shows normal again.

How does alerts for „max. speed“ are working? Get alerts for max. heartrate an so on, but not for „max. speed“. Is set to 50km/h while cycling, but watch do not recognize it.

Ok, for the voice but is it possible to have only a countdown with a bell for the last five seconds of the intervall ? (like Garmin)
Thank's
You can disable the voice option for the countdown but keep the haptic option. It also makes a small sound so may help. To do this go to Settings / Alerts / Scheduled Interval Alerts.

I haven't heard of the black map before. Please could you send me the wkt file for that workout and I will take a look. To do this tap the Export button 3 times quickly and send to info@workoutdoors.net.

The max speeds work the same as other alerts but sometimes you can be going to fast to notice them. Again please send a wkt file and I will check if you got them.

The app is fantastic. I bought it a long time ago and use it almost every day for running. Thank you CFC for developing it.

The only problem I got with the app is its graphical design. I don't mean readability, which is very good. I mean it's not super beautiful and it could be improved pretty easy in my opinion. My biggest complaints are with the fonts displaying digits. They are no monospaced so each change in value changes the width of the text. They are not consistent in terms of position and size. And they are to close to field borders.

Minor issues like color palette, or cutting background of fields at the screen corner could be improved too :)

Still, this the best app.

The heart rate "fix" doesn't work well for me. After waiting for the "fix" I start the WOD workout and it is then, sometimes but not always, much higher and then falls back to the real heart rate value after some time.
This is not a problem with Apple's workout app. I have reported this before in previous versions and I know that WOD gets its values from the watch, but this remains a problem for me. It almost has to be a WOD problem because the Apple app does not have this problem.
I think WOD is beautiful, but with these kinds of problems it is difficult to continue using it.

FWIW I see this behaviour in the Apple workout app and WOD. I just wear an external HR now.

This was from a walk using the workout app (not WOD)

I’m not seeing heart rate issues like some here. I’ve only noticed light gray once while using and my heart rate graphs have been very solid while playing tennis, weightlifting and cycling.

Is it possible to change the path color to something else than green? Sometimes it’s hard to see on the watch - see attached screenshot.

Suggestion or maybe I have not found it but is there anyway that the app can make the phone go to Do Not Disturb when you start a workout? I know I can easily do it before I start the app but sometimes Ill forget so would be nice if it was automatic. Thank you!
