I'd consider a larger ipad pro but ONLY if it had a kickstand. iPads are so unwieldy to me, you can't prop them up unless you get a bulky, ugly case, and even then the function usually sucks, it would only get worse with a larger size. Heck I'd consider a 17" iPad for use at home. I still have a Dell XPS18 tablet that is 18" and I love it for certain situations!

But then you're faced with other issues such as arthritis or RSI. The lighter the better, please. Granted, this one's more of an issue with reading rather than watching. ?

Not only this but I just don't imagine some of the iOS gestures on an a bigger screen for people with arthritis. It would be painful. For me everything above 12.9 is good for artists that need screen real state but do not fit for the other regular tablet usage. It is cumbersome to hold such a device and interact via gestures with it.

Personally no, I like the large (12.9) size for content consumption, but I'd still prefer a smaller overall device (like the 2018/2020). If they were to increase the sizes of the pros to 12.0" and 14.0" I'd probably drop down to the 12 inch model rather than stepping up to the 14 inch. I do think it would have its fans among those that use it with the magic keyboard as a laptop replacement device first and foremost though, it's just my use is primarily traditional iPad content consumption and browsing so it doesn't suit me.

Why not?
But at some point it’d stop being an ipad and venture into a new non-portable category.

Not quite what you’re describing but with the ARM Macbook rumours, I’m imagining an iMac sized touch device that can be a monitor in front of you just like it is now or slide down to an inclined surface like a canvas sized surface to draw on with the Apple Pencil.

Nope but a iPad Mini Pro is an instant buy for me.

On the large side of the spectrum I’m happy with my 12.9 gen 2 for now.

Yes immediately. 15’’ would be a dream.

And just because 13’’ is too big for Some of you don’t speak for others.
Just like the trackpad/mouse issue: posters shouting it down even though
it will not impact them.

By the time they make an iPad with a 14 inch screen they should adjust the aspect ratio to at least 3:2 and make it even more bezel less. With 4:3 aspect on a 14 inch that would be super tall even taller than MacBook Pro 15"

I've been thinking a bit about what a larger iPad Pro would look like, and was wondering if anybody here would have any interest in the idea. Obviously it would lose some portability, but a 15" screen would be excellent for drawing or for other creative tasks. This would also make it a better laptop replacement from the standpoint of screen size, as now the iPP and MBP would be very close in screen size.

It could probably be marketed more as a prosumer device, sort of like the old 17" MBP. Not a carry around every day device, but a portable drawing workstation that you can easily get from point A to B with.

If they make the case strong (far stronger than the current 12.9) then I would buy it. Give it an optional base with a reticulating arm that you can attach it to, for working at a desk.

Possibly... I’m loving how the iPads are becoming more and more of a laptop replacement. And with MacOS going to ARM based processors, I’m curious to know what the future will bring in terms of software features. I’d be interested in one. I’ve been curious to try the 12.9” with the new iOS 13, but I can’t justify the cost while my 11” isn’t much different. A 15” now, that would be a bigger jump

14.2-inches is optimal for luring MacBook owners: 13.3-inches and 15.4-inches.

14.2-inches screen has height of 15.4-inches Macbook and width of 13.3-inches Macbook.

14.2-inches has almost same physical size as larger 2015/2017 iPad Pro.

So, many good reasons why it will have exactly 14.2-inches and 3072x2160 screen.

I would not. I don't think that would be good for me. I find the 12.9 inch is a little big for most of my needs but I am sure that others would LOVE a larger one.

I use my 12.9 to read off of on a stand. If Apple offered a 14-15” non Pro, I would snag that in a heartbeat.

I can see a larger iPad appealing to lots of people, not just people who work in graphics & design, but its not something I’d personally like due to the inevitable footprint that would have to come with it. It would be the same as the 16” MBP for me - a brilliant laptop if you’re sitting in one place all day, but very impractical on the move due to its footprint.

I would not buy a iPad that big, as I need to be mobile at times. For me, the iPad Pro 11” has been the perfect size for one-handed mobile use (at times) as well as with the Magic Keyboard at home.

It'd be more of something like an iPuter, versus a Pad.

At this size point, you may as well just make a MacBook or MacBook Pro with Touch capability.

For those who still need to use both, yes. We have plenty cases where the iPad is the main computer and there a bigger device might be very desirable.

I’d use it all the time. 1st, as an ext display large enough to actually be touch-apppropriate on my desktop, 2nd, as an external display when I’m out in the field with the MBP, 3rd, when I’m not on either and need a creative drawing surface, & the rest of the time it’d be a handy portable TV.

Might as well just use the 16” MBP display so they match. I see a lot of people imagining a 12”+ tablet to be some giant impossibly non-portable thing. That’s because you’re coming from something small and your imagination is overreacting. When you’re used to interacting with OS X via a 27” touchscreen, & you grab a MS Surface Book 15” Tablet section, its every bit as light and maneuverable as any iPad.

No. I wouldn’t even buy a 12.9 inch iPad. I have the 11 inch iPad Pro. If I want anything bigger I’ll use my iMac or desktop PC and if I want to watch a movie on a bigger screen it’s my 50 inch TV.

The iPad 12.9 screen is actually as tall as a 15.6” 16:9 laptop while in landscape mode So i’m good.

16" pen displays are approaching ipad like thinness. Demand might be too niche, but I have no doubt
this would be an amazing device
