The one reason I have that Apple is working on larger screens for iPad Pro is that they can’t get some of the Pro apps to work well on 12.9/11”.

13.3” is smallest screen size of a Mac. If Apple is indeed working on migrating Mac Apps to iPadOS, the existing screen sizes are probably too small.

A 16” iPad Pro will never happen, however I can Apple going for something in between. Between 13”-14”.
12.9in is definitely not an obstacle for pro apps... (as said above, it's bigger than 13.3 16.10). And if they ever make a larger iPad, it will be at the very least 14in. No point in making it only slightly bigger...
Also personally I don't think they'll kill the 12.9, but rather add a new model with its own keyboard accessories... The real point is if they manage to make it light enough.... especially given that Samsung 14.6in one is going to be lighter than the M1 12.9...

Not for me, I am always wanting the smaller iPad options. Even 11” is bigger than my preference. I find it pretty uncomfortable to hold something weighing a pound in my hands, but I use my iPad mostly as a tablet with using it as a computer secondary.

12.9 is the maximum portable size. Anything more restricts it to a household item, necessitating a smaller iPad for travel use cases

I think 12.9” as at the limit of what is practical for what I want in a tablet. I don’t think they could make the display much closer to the edge than they have with the current design or else your hands will cover the screen - it needs some bezel, so a 15/16” would have to be quite a bit bigger and less wieldy. Like the idea of more screen space though.

I think around 14" would be possible in something no bigger than the original 12.9" volumetrically (probably wider but shorter in footprint unless they go to the IMAX aspect ratio that the 11" has). Bigger than that and, yes I think it stops being practical as an iPad, and would need a new custom system reflecting mostly desk-bound usage.

forget 15". I want a 27" ipad pro with phone capabilities so can ditch my phone and ipad and one fell swoop. the one iDevice to rule them all

If a good Italian company makes a small espresso machine that can attach and be powered by Apple's $ 1900 Magic Keyboard you will be all set.

Samsung Tablets still run AndroidOS with OEM custom OS. With Samsung, that is OneUI. Samsung's latest Tablets (Tab S7/S7+) currently runs Android 11 with OneUI 3.1.

Google no longer makes their own tablets, but manufacturers are able to produce tablets with AndroidOS.
Does that mean that any tablet sized applications tailored for OneUI are no longer run well across all Android tablet sized devices?

There is no such thing as tablet sized apps or apps tailored for OneUI. Contrary to IOS, Android has been supporting automatic scaling for tablets of different sizes and aspect ratios for years. Developers don't need to make a special version of the app for tablets (and that's why some, like Facebook with their apps, don't make any optimizations for tablets. Fortunately this is not the case for Google and Microsoft apps, which tend to be similarly optimized as iPad apps, with some minor exceptions...)
Where OneUI is different is in the additional multitasking capabilities that it offers compared to stock Android, plus several built in apps (including some that cost money on Google play store) and features (like Dex, second monitor for Windows etc.)

Yes, a 15” iPad would be nice. After just a month of usage, my 12.9” feels too small for multitasking 😊. 10" is hopelessly too small now. I remember when people talked same way about iPhones, anything above 3.5" was "too big" and will never happen etc. Allmost no-one wants to buy a smartphone that small today.

I believe tablets will be no different.

For a laptop replacement, yes I would actually. But it depends on the apps that are available by then.

The 11” and 12.9” iPad Pro require a bag, so they are both as portable as a 15” iPad Pro to me.

For ultra portability (without a bag with me), I use my iPhone Pro Max.

I’ve seen some of their “automatic sizing” and it looked kinda awkward, but maybe I haven’t looked recently enough.

So, there are SOME OneUI apps that will only run on Samsung then? Not surprising as all apps made for Apple products only run on Apple products, that would just mean that most apps wouldn’t use OneUI if they wanted to be as widely accessible as possible to the largest number of devices?

The 12.9 is barely holdable, size and weight wise. The whole point of iPads are "tablets". A 14 or 15 inch would be permanently docked for most people.

Starting to get into iBoard territory there:

I would not use one that large because it would largely defeat the purpose of it being a device more portable than a laptop. That is based on how I've used iPads in the past when I've owned them (even if I don't currently have one).
If its light and foldable...people will want it. I will want it.

I believe OneUI refers to the OS own UI (app launcher, settings etc). It does not affect what the app does with its own window. Samsung phones/tablets can run all apps from the Play Store. I do not think there are any Android apps developed specifically for One UI.

Well, the problem is that there is no strict definition for "tablet". It may be 65" big. On the other hand, when most people say "tablet" they mean a handheld device. 12.9" is already beyond a comfortably hand held size/weight for most people. But sure, if Apple released, say, 34" tablet they may call it that (a tablet) or a "table". But there should be no illusion about the handheld nature of such device.

If it’s Flicker/PWM free, I would by a 20”.
Would take whatever I could get at this point

I used a mini in the cockpit, then I tried Foreflight on my 12 inch ipad and will never go back to a smaller one. Ever.

Yes, OneUI is like saying OxygenOS or whatever each OEM calls their version of Android (it used to be called touchwiz). OneUI is more similar to stock Android than touchwiz was, but if has more features (mainly multitasking, pen features, second screen features).
The apps I was referring to were the apps that are either only on the Samsung store or that are both on the playstore and Samsung store, but are free on the Samsung store (e.g. noteshelf, $5 on the playstore, but free on the Samsung store, probably because paid by Samsung...)

i think for me the 12.9” iPad Pro is the largest it needs to be. I switched this year from the 11” and I love the bigger screen but more than this and it’s not a tablet anymore.

Not to open a can of worms, but "What's a tablet?"...
A tablet is many things to many people, I have 7-8 iPads and I use none as Jobs intended....

7 or 8? And you have a Samsung Galaxy tab too if I remember. What do you do with all of those tablets?

What I meant to say is that i wouldn’t be able to use it on the couch or in bed anymore without the keyboard at those sizes. For me it would turn into more of a touch screen laptop.
