The iPad 12.9 screen is actually as tall as a 15.6” 16:9 laptop while in landscape mode So i’m good.
I noticed when trying out a Wacom Cintq 16". I go back and forth on whether a larger screen
is desirable. A lot of people working on larger displays actually work in a smaller subset of
the screen. At this point ipad art software has become a net plus. Icloud makes ipad
centered workflows very easy to integrate with windows

Personally no, I like the large (12.9) size for content consumption, but I'd still prefer a smaller overall device (like the 2018/2020). If they were to increase the sizes of the pros to 12.0" and 14.0" I'd probably drop down to the 12 inch model rather than stepping up to the 14 inch. I do think it would have its fans among those that use it with the magic keyboard as a laptop replacement device first and foremost though, it's just my use is primarily traditional iPad content consumption and browsing so it doesn't suit me.

I think 12” iPad Pro would be ideal for general productivity apps and perhaps an even larger 14.5 or 15” model for more graphic and video creation applications.

I could see this happening with the regular iPad and iPad Air’s moving up in size to 10.8”

A 13 & 15 inch iPad would seem like a very big step and it would be a good one haha

I would have it vote because some games look really cool when playing so a bigger screen would mean great detail and watching netflix would be great as well

As a visual artist who who does illustration and digital sculpting I would definitely buy it.

This is a question I’ve thought about a lot, and I guess I’d just have to see what it’s like in my hands. I swore I’d never own a 12.9” iPad Pro, yet here I am typing this post on a 12.9” iPad Pro.

One thing I CAN say is that I just got a new 15” MBP from work, and I find it too big and uncomfortable for my liking as a mobile computer. It’s a very nice machine, but I very much prefer my iPad Pro most of the time.

No not at all. I have both the 11" and 12.9 pros and when I want a portable device I almost always grab the 11". I love the 12.9 as a laptop of sorts, I have the Magic keyboard for it and it does a lot of work each day. However, the pencil lives attached to the 11" with a standard folio keyboard and is much nicer for iPad sort of things. Most days I have the 12.9 set up beside my 16" MBP and the 11" along with my phone goes where I go.

No, but I think there is a market for say, a 30-40 inch desktop-based drafting table style setup.

Apple would need to work on palm/arm rejection and tweak the UI a little for something so large, but this would be great for artist types, video editors, etc. I suspect. SOME (not all) of the people doing what they would normally use an iMac for.

Not something to carry around, and not something to use vertically, but something you'd use slightly elevated. For portables, I think 13" or so is about right for the high end. It fits in bags conveniently, is the upper limit you can use while in transit, etc.

I just went from a 9.7” ipp to a 12.9” ipp. I love everything about it except the weight. I was surprised how heavy it was compared to the 9.7. If they do go larger, and that causes a significant weight increase, it might make more sense to buy a MacBook, at least you wont have to buy a separate keyboard.

I went from a 2018 11" Pro with Smart Keyboard Folio to a 2020 12.9" iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard. The weight and size increase at first seemed drastic to me, but I got used to it within a couple of weeks and now think nothing of it. I absolutely love it and it's my favorite computer of all time at this point.

Oddly enough, I also sized up on my work Mac this year. My previous one was a 13" Macbook Air, and they upgraded me this year to a 2019 15" Macbook Pro. I have to say--I don't mind the weight increase one bit, but the size increase is a different story. When it comes to Macs, I think I actually prefer 13" over 15/16".

Seems like 12.9"/13" is the sweet spot for me as far as screen size whether it's a Macbook or an iPad. I do really enjoy doing photo editing, graphic design, video editing, etc. on my iPad Pro, but I don't do any of those things professionally. If I did them as my job, I think I would pick up a 14 or 15" iPad in a heartbeat.

Keyboard isn't detachable on the MacBook. Personally, I always just use the onscreen keyboard on my iPad when I'm at home. In the office, I use a Logitech K780 bluetooth keyboard that I switch on the fly between my work desktop and iPad.

Besides, there are several use cases where a large iPad would be helpful where a MacBook wouldn't be ideal (e.g. drawing, viewing large docs/images, etc).

Yeah, sure, there will always be people who want something that would be more helpful to them. The question is, will there be millions of them, enough to support a new product launch? I don’t think so, unless Apple can squeeze a larger screen and accompanying goodies into a unit that doesn’t weigh more than the 12.9. But that’s just my opinion.

Yeah, I don't think Apple will introduce another Pro size. If they do release an even bigger iPad, I find it more likely that they bump up the size and weight of the 12.9" back to around that of the old chassis. I remember calculating it before and edge to edge on the TouchID 12.9" was ~14-15".

I've been thinking a bit about what a larger iPad Pro would look like, and was wondering if anybody here would have any interest in the idea. Obviously it would lose some portability, but a 15" screen would be excellent for drawing or for other creative tasks. This would also make it a better laptop replacement from the standpoint of screen size, as now the iPP and MBP would be very close in screen size.

It could probably be marketed more as a prosumer device, sort of like the old 17" MBP. Not a carry around every day device, but a portable drawing workstation that you can easily get from point A to B with.
I don't think I would but definitely think there is a place for it.

Well Most people use iPad even the Mini at the coffee table for several hours.. Having 14 or 16 inch wouldnt make much of a difference since iPads Are like MacBooks and used in table not holding it for several hours like phone. And also for added weight? It doesnt matter at 16 inch iPad since you will use it on Table anyways to support the weight lol

We're all different and have different uses and needs. Currently I use my iPad as a tablet and feel the 12.9" is larger than I want for my uses. So an even larger iPad? No. I might change my mind if the operating system matures to the point I could run professional applications I need as a true laptop replacement. And then I'd have a smaller iPad to use as a true tablet. I could certainly see the appeal for designers, artists, or folks who are using it as a primary device to stream movies, watch TV, etc.

With Samsung expected to launch a 14.6" Android tablet next month, I'd expect Apple to compete with it In 2022.

There’s nothing wrong with this post but these are the type of threads where I sometimes wonder if it was commissioned by Apple. Probably not though cuz hopefully their marketing research would be more sophisticated than that

The one reason I have that Apple is working on larger screens for iPad Pro is that they can’t get some of the Pro apps to work well on 12.9/11”.

13.3” is smallest screen size of a Mac. If Apple is indeed working on migrating Mac Apps to iPadOS, the existing screen sizes are probably too small.

A 16” iPad Pro will never happen, however I can Apple going for something in between. Between 13”-14”.

I would not as I am not interested in a tablet that large and I am sure I would not be interested in the asking price.

What OS is going to run on it? Didn’t Google stop developing their Tablet Android?
Samsung Tablets still run AndroidOS with OEM custom OS. With Samsung, that is OneUI. Samsung's latest Tablets (Tab S7/S7+) currently runs Android 11 with OneUI 3.1.

Google no longer makes their own tablets, but manufacturers are able to produce tablets with AndroidOS.

The 12.9” is actually a bigger display by area than the 13.3” MacBooks due to the aspect ratio, but I agree the 11” might be too small for the laptop alternative set up Apple seems to be pushing the pros towards. I could certainly see them rounding the displays up to 12.0” and 14.0” with the Air filling in at 11”. A 12” iPad with minimal bezels would actually be around the same footprint as the iPad 1 through 4, and at least the iPad 2, 3 and 4 weren’t unduly cumbersome.
