That's because Apple's products are gimped, disposable and overpriced. If they weren't such, they'd get a better review.

They got excellent reviews on all the reputable sites. You also decided to sling mud at the iP8 series, which Consumer Reports rated very highly...both actually higher than the X even (which also got great reviews).

Thank you to what Melancholy posted here...Rene Ritchie basically refuted like 98% of the nonsense video review from Linus. He wiped the floor with him and his fake news "review" with misinformation...not just opinion.
Some of his "complaints" he recorded are cause he doesn't know iOS well enough to toggle certain settings such as the HDR mode.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Rene Ritchie did a good job refuting Linus’s points that were otherwise false and misinformed. Also Linus is pretty petty about autocorrect, when it’s his ignorance that’s partly to blame, iPhone XS is stylized with small caps for the ‘S’ like XS or XR, it’s not a lowercase letter, or else you sound like you’re saying more than one iPhone X, and autocorrect thought he was trying to plural the X.

I think he’s acting so negative because he’s still sore from Apple’s atrocious iMac Pro repair problem. It shouldn’t be hindering his iPhone XS review. Also this video shows how biased he is.

Actually on the auto correct your wrong, I find it to be awful on iOS, used to work fine, but I read apparently Apple stores words people use themselves in the cloud and it’s auto correct system uses theses. So made up words are used to auto correct?
Don’t no how true that is but yeah Apple broke its auto correct a while back now and it still is.

That's because Apple's products are gimped, disposable and overpriced. If they weren't such, they'd get a better review. Apple's robbing consumers blind and yet Samsung, for less money, puts out a WAY better phone without compromises (and includes a headphone jack). Apple gets exposed for this and you guys cry about it... why? Nothing he said was false.

Well there is a compromise as Samsung quickly abandon OS updates in a bid to make users upgrade hardware. I always felt if Samsung put more effort into supporting their version of Android for longer they could take more of the market. If they hadn't stuck to Touchwiz for so long they would be further ahead in the hearts and minds of tech reviews and consumers.

He’s a class A idiot, he doesn’t like Apple really and likes to hate on them...

And let’s not forget the iMac Pro his idiot friend broke after taking it apart just because, and then blaming Apple for not repairing it.. Yeap Linus is one big class A idiot.

So you need to like a product to make a review? I dont see anything on the vid which wasnt true either and Linus just summarized them in a one vid.

What comes to the broken imac, you need to check that video again to understand the real problem. Obviously you missed it.

Good job at trying to prove how I’m wrong about autocorrect. I’m not, we clearly see how he types ‘iPhone X’ in his video, these words are updated and logged in ‘Apple Dictionary’, if you type ‘iPhone X’ in lowercase, it’ll auto correct it to the proper name.

Linus types ‘iPhone XS’ all in lowercase, and QuickType/autocorrect thinks you’re trying to pluralize the iPhone X. I can’t imagine QuickType magically knowing whether you meant ‘iPhone XS’ or trying to pluralize ‘iPhone X’. If you intentionally mean ‘XS’ then you are more bothered to correctly capitalize it as such, as that is the proper stylization, unless you didn’t know that otherwise.

That last bit makes it sound like you don’t know what you’re talking about. Don’t believe everything you see online, just reset your keyboard dictionary, Apple can’t save you if you can’t learn to spell or be grammarly correct, it’s ‘know’ not ‘no’. That’s probably why your autocorrect is so messed up.

He got a lot of things wrong. Go watch Rene Ritchie, he does a better job at explaining on what he got wrong. And with a big following he has, he needs to do a better job at disclosing information and not disinforming them while adding petty remarks.

Me: “Rene does a good job at explaining...”

he doesnt. This is what he does always, just explaining and gives excuses.

Good job at contradicting yourself there, you sound blinded by the truth.

Linus says there should be an option to keep a normal photo when taking HDR photos (as he continues to criticize Apple, even though this criticism stems from his own ignorance), Rene shows there’s a toggle to keep the normal photo (9:06). He’s not making excuses, Rene’s proving Linus wrong with his misinformation. Another: Linus states that Apple hasn’t used Roman numerals since 1994, that’s wrong too. These are just examples.

Clearly, Linus is just being petty, as he has already claimed in his own video. He just wanted to spread negativity over trifling things like autocorrect, or how he doesn’t like certain features that were not built to revolve around him.

He’s spreading false information to his large following, that’s just wrong. Linus is wrong about Apple falling behind on design trends or not leading in design trends, even though many competitors have started incorporating the notch and dropping the headphone jack.

He also brings up how the iPhone XS looks the same, and this shows his bias when the same can be said with his Samsung.

Sorry to sound like a broken record, but these aren’t excuses, Linus is being exposed for being a hypocrite and sharing false information, and he is just being negative out of sheer pettiness.

I tried to watch this, I had to stop it at around 2min 30sec. My God, that whiny voice was triggering a migraine! (Doesn't help it's 5:20am and I'm cranky..lol)

Whatever, I like my X's Max
**Oops, my iMac keyboard typed "X's"

I am a big fan of Linus, but this review of the iPhone was so unfair and don't understand how such a reputable Youtuber gives such a hateful review?
Because he isn’t as reputable as you make him to be and this is just the first time you’ve noticed Linus is full of manure. So why didn’t Apple demo the exact same features it demoed last year with the iPhone X again? Because that would have been a waste of everybody’s time. We’ve already seen Memojis, which are an iOS 12 feature, at the WWDC in June and they did demo the new adjustable Bokeh effect, which is only available in iPhones with the new A12 Bionic chip, on stage.

There was nothing wrong with this years iPhone keynote, if you compare it to the 20 min short iPhone 3G presentation, which also didn’t reiterate everything already known from the original iPhone.

XR will have amazing battery though which is the No.1 selling feature for me. I am happy with my max though I would prefer bigger battery in future. Apple have really put tiny batteries into their phones :(

Shout out to me! My snarky comment (made during the keynote) is right above the one he mentions.

I think he makes great points. The keynote seemed very strange to me, how they hustled past things they used to spend lots of time on in previous years.

I am a big fan of Linus, but this review of the iPhone was so unfair and don't understand how such a reputable Youtuber gives such a hateful review?. I've had my Xs Max for a few weeks now and I am still impressed by it.

He said there is hardly any difference between X and Xs, well I bought Xs Max and it is a massive difference. And Linus, as PC users like me know, is a massive benchmark guy. The iPhone outperforms any other phone out there in terms of benchmarks, it is head and shoulders above even the closest competitor - Samsung. It's not even a competition. Why doesn't he address this?

He says the design is too similar, barring Xs Max, what about last two rounds of Samsung phones?

He complains about real estate on screen size? I prefer xs max, no bottom lip, and higher screen to body ratio.

He complains about Apple display being crap about thick bezels on xs. But the bezels and frame are much thicker on Note 9? What? And in terms of quality, I would say iPhone Xs Max is probably the second best screen on the market after Samsung's own.

Biggest point for me anyway is how reliably and smoothly iOS runs. Not the stuttering, freezing etc you see on Android. A better user experience, the apps all work better on iPhone.

Fair complains are headphone dongle maybe, and price definitively, it costs Apple £300 ish to produce xs max so it could be a bit cheaper.

The notch is not ideal, but it is the best. Only when watching videos it is a problem, and you get watch the whole video or enlarge it to full screen with the notch. After using the Xs Max, I would prefer this over the top and bottom chin of Samsung. And have you seen the number of manufacturers copying the notch now? Clearly it's selling s*** loads, so people are buying it.

Reviews are inherently subjective. The only YouTubers I know who give (almost) entirely objective fact-based reviews are Lisa from Mobile Tech Review, and DetroitBorg.

In any case, you will never find a review/reviewer that everyone agrees with.

As he opens the box he compares his Galaxy Samsung Note side by side and ranting before even pulling the iPhone out. This tells you all you need to know. Aside from that, what an annoying and pretentious whiner with zero appeal, no way I could sit through that whole thing.

As Rene points out, this issue is they are passing INCORRECT information to millions of people. It's irresponsible, period, do not pass go or collect $200

If that's your job you make money from, to be the "media," then spreading misinformation due to lack of time and effort (WEEKS after launch here now, plenty of time) to even research the basics is sad; like claiming that the Note 9 screen is bigger, Max has no dual SIM, etc. Clearly factual errors regarding the sheer basic specs one could read off a spec sheet putting in the 2 minutes of extra effort.

Its not being PC or whiny, its about being factual and responsible and not spreading misinformation to the public who dont know any better. I have zero problems with people liking Android or something different.

But it's far beyond opinion when you are spreading misinformation about the specs of the phone that would've taken 5 extra minutes to prepare and look up. You lose all credibility that way as to anything else you say that may be a good point.

Oh no... how dare someone be critical of the perfect iPhone XS. Everyone in here acting like Apple are still in their golden years when they just aren’t anymore. In terms of profit? Yes, but their products (the actual things we should care about) are more flawed than ever. I don’t even like this guy as his style grates on me so much but if he doesn’t like an Apple product then he doesn’t like it. Calling him an idiot just because his opinion doesn’t jive with yours just makes you come across that you aren't mature enough to handle others opinions that are different to yours.

Absolutely not, but the two you mentioned plus as someone said...Marques Brownlee provide
very high quality reviews on Youtube.

He’s entitled to whatever opinions he wants to. That isn’t the issue we are discussing here. It’s the fact that he is talking ill informed nonsense.

Linus has generally been biased against iPhones for years along with Unbox Therapy. He does have a few valid points though--there really isn't much difference between the X and the Xs. But if you're coming from an older iPhone it's a huge upgrade.

He's way off on the screen bezels. I don't know how he can say that when so many Android phones are copying the notch *and* are too cheap to eliminate a huge chin on their phones.

Each of these youtubers carefully tailor their videos either for hate watching or to make their users feel validated for their choices. If you want to feel validated about Apple products, head over to Tailosive Tech.

So if there’s not much difference between the X and the X then there’s really no difference between the Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 phones.

Some things are true but he’s just doing this for views to cater to his audience.

It’s his opinion. In my opinion the Note 9 looks dated with the thicker top and bottom bezels.
