iPhones explode all the time too.

Downgrading to an iPhone isn't an option for many because iPhone 7 has even more hardware issues, iOS 10 is still too buggy and Siri Airheaded Intelligence is useless.
Sure let's compare a global recall of a product never seen for a mobile phone to one unverified incident. That would be a deflection. Also bringing in exploding Samsung washing machines is a deflection.o_O

You can just downgrade to an s7 or upgrade to an iPhone 7 plus.;)

Yeah because having 3 or 4 unverified replacement Note 7 incidents is so much more reputable.... and what the hell have washing machines got to do with it? A product by a completely different department most likely in a completely different building in a different country, oh but it adds fuel to the hysteria hyperbole fire!

I could post lots of links about iOS devices catching fire, or even about the iPod Nano first gen being recalled in some countries but as it's Apple its different? Apple don't do recalls, they try to dodge the bad press, they do 'known Apple issues' and 'product repair or replacement programmes for known issues'. Samsung just does a recall.

I guess that's my original question as to "what the hell" does an iphone incident have to do with world-wide recall of a mobile phone. It can be said, that the washing machine was manufactured by same company and maybe the company has some quality issues that need to be addressed. Certainly more of a common thread than one iphone issue; which as you said just adds "fuel to the hysteria hyperbole fire".

Sure you can go on posting links about ios devices catching fire and other apple stuff. But if it walks like a duck...etc. At the end of the day, they are all deflections and false eqivalencies and blame shifting. (And for what it's worth this is not just a recall, the CSPC issued a recall, which is a big detail and they are banned from use on aircraft. Another big deal)

I ignore the aircraft thing, they are a bit over sensitive to any possible threats even if tiny. I guess understandable? But I don't know what this CSPC is? I will reserve all accusation and judgement though until they have investigated these new replacement Note 7 claims if they are an official body.

'Downgrading'? Seriously?

5 things:

1. An iPhone isn't a downgrade. It isn't an upgrade. It's a sidegrade.

2. I don't know of any major widespread hardware issues, my 7 Plus has been perfect.

3. iOS 10 is WAY smoother than 9 was even at it's last version number, and even moreso at the beginning.

4. Plenty of people have used Siri for years without issue. Calling it "airheaded" is over-the-top and childish.

5. If you don't like Apple, you might be better off going to an Android forum.

I understand you are upset that Samsung can't seem to make a Note 7 that doesn't blow up as you like the phone, but let's be real. An iPhone is in no way a downgrade, and that is YOUR opinion. It is a sidegrade. I'm not saying it's an upgrade either, it's a sidegrade. One is not better than the other. Your miles may vary, but you don't speak for everyone.

affecting sale? definitely, AT&T is considering halting sale. how much impact? don't know. this is not a typical technical issue that most phones have. if people keep hearing phone on fire in car, house, airplane, that put samsung reputation on the line. if you have baby or kids, having a phone that can go off anytime is the most scaring thing. airplane? that is not even funny.

the technical issue is not what scares people. it is safety issue that has the most impact.

Very good point. The thought of having a phone explode, catch on fire will drive a lot of business away.

It's enough that ALL three major carriers will no longer be selling the Note 7 as of today. T-Mobile has reportedly stopped sales immediately as well now.

The effects of this fiasco will be felt throughout the whole industry, with Apple and Google being the most-benefited.

Customer trust is the one thing that can't be won back. They would have had a hard time after the first recall, but now, it's practically impossible because it shows they did not do their homework and cared more about recovering lost profits than giving their customers a product that meets their expectations.

Really sucks this is happening to the note 7... really liked the phone when I had it. I returned for a refund as I wanted to repurchase it though Costco for the better protection plan but now I'm not too sure its coming back =(

My 6s plus feels boring compared to my note 7

Thanks for that, it will be interesting to see what they do or say then over the coming weeks about the Note 7.

Have these carriers announced this officially themselves then? Link please.

I'm not blind brand follower. Just state what's right and true. Right now Samsung is in big trouble and that's the truth.

They'll get through it. Even Apple has had their share of fire prone devices. I had one of the smoking iMac G5's.

Lots of Apple products have had recalls due to design flaws that were fire related. Yet they survived.

The public has a short memory. People will still buy Samsung. Just as people still buy Apple.

Sorry but Samsung has flipped the middle finger to the customer on this. There must be 60 times as many iPhone 6 units as the Note 7 in the wild and even if an equivalent number of units exploded it would be a very very small percentage

Apple was not the one who told the customer to f off in a text message

Apple was not the one who needed to recall the product twice with no certainty on whether the second recall would even work

2 of the big 4 carriers stateside have stopped selling the Note 7 which is very very shameful on Samsung because the carriers took a decision Samsung should have taken a week ago.

Samsung is so dumb they keep focusing on sales.Forget about the damn sales. With recall units catching fire I will be surprised if it surpasses Lumia numbers from now.Ensure the existing customers are cared for. They are the ones who will stick with you to the end.But that text message proves Sammy doesn't want to bear the costs of a second recall

I loved your products Samsung but my confidence in you has touched rock bottom. You botched up quite possibly the most beautiful phone of 2016 in a spectacular manner

This may be fun for the easily amused... but those who understand business know better.

It's definitely not fun for me. I'm not a businessman but I DO feel bad for Samsung. And I'm not a Samsung fan.

This all couldn't have come at a worse time (iP7 launch and soon to be Pixel launch), and it potentially (and still could) put people's lives in danger. Certainly properties and houses.

Also, the fact that it happened with the replacement devices is very worrisome. That said, Samsung now has a responsibility to make it right with Note 7 owners and certainly with people that their devices did explode/catch fire.

I think they make great hardware, and while I'm not a fan of their software at all (TouchWiz still lags. It's getting better but not good enough for me at this point), this is a shame regardless.

Yes we (and myself certainly included) have poked fun or said things or reposted memes, it's a serious situation and I wish the best for Samsung. But they do need to take full responsibility and do the right thing.

fire on airplain!!! and most don't care? ok, look like you don't understand the seriousness of this issue. I have nothing else to say.

I do - you are overdramatic.

Even their stock has raised back up to the same point before the recall. Seems like you dont understand that Note7 isnt their only phone they sell and they arent out of the mobile business because of this.

'Downgrading'? Seriously?

Not only is iPhone 7 series a downgrade but it's a bigger lemon than the iPhone 6 series that's the subject of several lawsuits for touch disease defect. Fortunately, people are finding out within the 14 day return period so it's not a surprise failure down the road like the iPhone 6 series. The iPhone 6S series is the only one with the fewest hardware issues and since it can be upgraded from unstable iOS 10 to stable 9.3.5 but Siri is still considered the dumbest by the AI research community and not in the same class as Google/DeepMind, IBM, OpenAI, Microsoft, Amazon or Facebook. Siri is so dumb that when I ask for directions to a major landmark within 10 mins drive that it suggests some wrong location in a different part of the state or even some other state.

You can't seriously call the iPhone a lemon in a thread where Samsung halted production of the galaxy note 7 for exploding And issued two global recalls.

Your defense for Samsung is weak at best, pathetic at worst.
