Not only is iPhone 7 series a downgrade but it's a bigger lemon than the iPhone 6 series that's the subject of several lawsuits for touch disease defect. Fortunately, people are finding out within the 14 day return period so it's not a surprise failure down the road like the iPhone 6 series. The iPhone 6S series is the only one with the fewest hardware issues and since it can be upgraded from unstable iOS 10 to stable 9.3.5 but Siri is still considered the dumbest by the AI research community and not in the same class as Google/DeepMind, IBM, OpenAI, Microsoft, Amazon or Facebook. Siri is so dumb that when I ask for directions to a major landmark within 10 mins drive that it suggests some wrong location in a different part of the state or even some other state.

At least try to appear normal, not like a complete fanboy. And no, I'm no samsung hater or apple lover. I use android mostly, and only own a iPhone SE from apple line of phones. Note 7 is a complete flop, Samsung screwed up completely.

Everyone screws up. Everyone. Only thing is to see how someone reacts when they screw up. And we will see how will Samsung react. But until then, hold your horses. Stop with the fanboy-kid act.

Note 7 is just a phone. Nothing more. Nothing else. So is iPhone 7, HTC 10, etc. One fails, buy another. As simple as that. Being a fanboy is ok to some extent, but you have passed that 'normal' line a long time ago.

Even with the issues surrounding the note 7, if Samsung is able to either show these were isolated incidents, manage to identify the new cause for this and fix it? I will happily purchase a note 7 and enjoy it.

I got mine on launch day and fell in love with the phone, wasn't this excited to have a new phone since my iPhone 5. I have nothing against Apple, I'm back on my 6s plus for now and it's a great phone for the most part. But I feel like the note 7 is that next level

Your asking it wrong.

Idk can't get an iPhone 7 anywhere. Samsung unfortunate engineering issues is sending the sales of the iPhone 7 through the roof is my guess. The rest of your post is hyperbole .

'Downgrading'? Seriously?

5 things:

1. An iPhone isn't a downgrade. It isn't an upgrade. It's a sidegrade.

2. I don't know of any major widespread hardware issues, my 7 Plus has been perfect.

3. iOS 10 is WAY smoother than 9 was even at it's last version number, and even moreso at the beginning.

4. Plenty of people have used Siri for years without issue. Calling it "airheaded" is over-the-top and childish.

5. If you don't like Apple, you might be better off going to an Android forum.

I understand you are upset that Samsung can't seem to make a Note 7 that doesn't blow up as you like the phone, but let's be real. An iPhone is in no way a downgrade, and that is YOUR opinion. It is a sidegrade. I'm not saying it's an upgrade either, it's a sidegrade. One is not better than the other. Your miles may vary, but you don't speak for everyone.

This is entirely subjective. It's also a downgrade for me. Larger bezels, more phone to carry and pocket, less functional OS, no file system, no widgets, no AMOLED screen, no AOD display, lower resolution screen, no VR, no S pen, no wireless charging, etc etc. These are all features I find very useful, once gain MY own personal opinion.

Oh and I won't call Siri any childish names, but it does suck in comparison to google now in MY opinion and experience. I've also had serious connectivity issues on my ip7+ where my signal completely drops several times per day for long periods. This is well known and there is a large thread on it in the apple side of the forums. I've only had my current 7+ for a few hours so I don't know if it will continue to be an issue. Issues exist on any tech device, my wife can't start her camera on her ip7 because the app just freezes on most starts, I have to make time to bring that to the apple store.

Edit: My 7+ dropped signal again on the way to work, guess that issue isn't fixed.

You can't seriously call the iPhone a lemon in a thread where Samsung halted production of the galaxy note 7 for exploding And issued two global recalls.

Your defense for Samsung is weak at best, pathetic at worst.

That's our mi7chy *canned laughter. credits roll*

Samsung will have to concentrate on the s8 and the edge.

Note7 is a bust and they really have to get to the bottom of why the batteries are exploding. Stop selling until they really have the problem solved.

Half measures are hurting the brand more than anything.

Such a shame. I really wanted to move on to an Android phone, and the Note 7 looked like the best one to try Android with. It doesn't seem other companies make phones worth buying for Android. I'll stick with iOS and iPhone for some time it looks like.

Do we just give them a pass when they finally pull the finger out? They have already reacted by not reacting over the past two weeks. Time doesn't stand still and fires don't stop while Samsung waits to react.

For starters they could explain whether that text message is real. They didnt deny the text message which is a complete mockery of the customers .Their silence leads me to believe that text is real

-The display, for one. The S7 edge has the same display though, so I could consider that model.
-The camera on the Note 7, comparable to the camera on any iPhone since the 6.
-The wireless charging feature. Other companies are not making phones with wireless charging.
-The S-pen, although not the most appealing feature, was also a consideration. I have a Surface Pen, and love writing with it. It would be nice to use an active stylus on a phone too.
-The expandable storage. The Note 5 is still being sold, but it doesn't have the SD card slot the Note 7 has.

I didn;t want to give up my Note 7, as I loved the thing. But sadly, it had to go. My family didn;t want it in the same house with them any more. With that, I am now trying to decide on getting either the IP7+ or LG V20. I looked at the V20 today and was very impressed with it. It has everything the Note did except the pen. Hmmm.

Of course.

I've had 0 issues with my personal iPhone 7 Plus device software or hardware. I think any software bugs (which are the cause of the problems people are complaining about) will be fixed in the next update or two.

For me the lack of any lag on iOS is why I keep buying iPhones. Even a split second difference is enough to keep me away from Samsung devices. I love the fluidity of iOS and how it just flies.

Would I like wireless charging, AOD, QHD, yada yada, sure. But for me my iPhones have always been speedy and that's what matters to me. I just don't have the patience for little delays and things like that.

That, and the sync between my Mac and iPad is another. It is indeed a walled garden, but the perks of said walled garden are enough to keep me in it for the foreseeable future.

But yeah, of course it's subjective. For me the fluidity of the phone and the raw speed when opening things and no animation trouble is why I absolutely love the iPhone. I've had no trouble on the 3 iPhones I've had - 6 Plus, 6S Plus, and now 7 Plus. I had a nightmare with Samsung (I had three of their S series phones so I'm not just blowing out hot air) and my stepgrandpa has had a nightmare with his S7 slowing down. He's now thinking a iPhone for his next phone.

I think Siri vs Google is an unfair comparison as Google has Google Search and their YEARS of AI and machine learning before Siri was even a glimmer in her daddy's eye. Google Now is better on some things, but Siri is not a blowout. I find it fine for what I need for "assistance", but for searches I do use the Google app and with 3D touch I can quickly voice search.

Two things that are unique to the Note 7 for me are being able to instantly take a note or picture.

At anytime I can eject the s-pen to take a note and with the AOD, I can have it pinned to the screen while "off".

At anytime I can double tap the home button to launch the camera app and use the vol keys to take the picture. Essentially creating camera hardware buttons with a bit of software genius by using what's on most smart phones, home button and vol keys.

I do - you are overdramatic.

Even their stock has raised back up to the same point before the recall. Seems like you dont understand that Note7 isnt their only phone they sell and they arent out of the mobile business because of this.

look like I was not overdramatic. actually it is worse than I thought. Samsung stops production of Note 7. and all carriers stop replacing. Note 7 is dead.

I said it can affect samsung reputation, which can affect their mobile business. I did not say they are out of mobile business.

I wouldn't say the iPhone is lag free, I've had occasional hiccups on mine. I've also had apps freeze up, requiring me to force close them. Just this morning the app store completely froze on me for no reason. I wouldn't say my Note 7 was any more laggy than the iPhone pound for pound.

Siri is a fair comparison IMO because it's a market competitor. I'm glad that Google is available on iOS so it's not really a big deal. It's comical though hearing my wife cursing out siri every night because it doesn't understand her slight accent, she hates siri but refuses to give up her iPhone.

It's not lag free but most reviewers consider the iPhone to be the least laggy smartphone. I've played with Samsung's newest (Note 7) and there is a bit of animation lag and other things.

Me personally I've never had any lag or hiccups on my iPhones, and that to me is what counts most. But I think most unbiased people would agree that Samsung phones on average have more lag than the iPhone. I know I'm not alone in that. Flossy Carter (a YT reviewer) who still says the Note 7 is the best phone right now even admitted in his iPhone review that the iPhone has the least lag and that people used to iPhones would have a problem with it going to a Samsung.

That's funny, because I just looked at that and here was their last words:

Overall, I think that if there’s any phone that is worth 650-750 USD at its base, it’s the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. If you’re upgrading from the iPhone 6s Plus you probably won’t find a ton of differences, but it’s still a significant step up in display, camera, speaker quality, battery life, and system performance. There are some software bugs and minor performance issues, but there’s nothing that really stands out as a showstopper and these issues are due to be fixed within the coming weeks. The iPhone might not excite like smartphones once did, but the amount of attention to detail and execution in the hardware is unparalleled and a cut above anything else in the industry.

That was in reference to Android phones, normanfox....it said nothing about in comparison to the 7.

Here's the FULL quote:

The iPhone 6s continued this success, and in a year of disappointing launches due to the weak showing of the widely used Snapdragon 808 and 810, the 6s and 6s Plus looked particularly good as the competition really couldn’t measure up. Now there were a lot of Android devices that performed better than the iPhone 6s/6s Plus in some particular area – a better camera or longer battery life, for example – but taken as a whole the iPhones 6s were just clearly superior devices. If nothing else, they hit that particular balance between features and performance that a lot of users were looking for.

android fans claim that Note 7 is the best phone with the superior spec. from anantech review, iphone 7 plus beats Note 7 on almost every performance categories up to 50% or more.
