I bought an XS. There was a gap between the screen and the stainless steel band. Replacement was the same.

Returned on IUP for a refund. Really disappointing.

An S cycle shouldn't have all these issues....

Out of fairness, we don’t have enough quantitive data to say ‘All these issues’. We hear about the worst issues on a tech forum, because that’s where others come to congregate/discuss what they are experiencing and what others might be sharing similar occurrences. But for the millions of iPhones produced and sold, there are far more perfectly good working phones than there are defective.

There will always be issues when manufacturing millions of devices, regardless of cost. Starting another thread to talk about it won’t change that. If you have a problem, bring it to Apple. Simple. Have you done that?
This is an internet forum, talking about it is the exact purpose of this website. I just think you can't handle anything negative being said about Apple products. Also, no i have not taken my device to Apple because my S9's reception is fantastic and it charges perfectly. ;). But let me tell you if there was an issue with it I would be the first to rip Samsung a new one!

No it is not, and these test’s were done right before launch day. So we didn’t have them yet and he knew there was going to be issues...
He didn't do any tests. These were the test results already done for the FCC. He was interpreting the tests already done.

The good news is the XR is supposed to have excellent antenna gain. Maybe partially because it's only 2x2 (and not 4x4).

The point is, the Antenna gain was horrible and “they” (Apple) knew it... Which is great for a $1350 piece of equipment! Thanks guys

Did they take into room? The main floor is very bright. Wonder if Apple backed off on tolerances. They had poor yields with X launch and couldn’t afford to have bad displays with new design.
Really doesn’t matter with budging. In 14 day window. Just return and repurchase if need too or even want to right now.

Unfortunately, they didn’t take it to a dark room, I showed them pictures but they blame it on True Tone. I did receive a swap though, but ended up with a model with the same effect. I’m feeling perplexed because I had a perfect iPhone XS Max that matched my old iPhone X, but had to downsize due to size. Swapping now gave me the same issues.

Even you have been around here long enough to know this is as typical as it gets!

My MAX does not suffer from any of these “issues”.
The antenna gain design flaw is actually even worse in the Max, according to Andrew Shepherd at WiWavelength. So, yes…it probably does.

Image processing issues
Reception issues
WiFi issues
Charging issues

Pretty poor for an S cycle device...

I had one with the pink shift oled display, but that iPhone X’s max didn’t have any of these of these issues.

Guess I’m lucky I have the mythical unicorn edition iPhone X’s Max that does not exhibit any of these issues.

Hey op does your iPhone Xs exhibit any of those defects?

When I checked in the store, I noticed that the X was yellow shifted. This was with True Tone turned off. The XS and Max I tried a week later didn't have the same look (again with True Tone off). OTOH, the 8 Plus was yellow shifted.

Obviously, there is still imperfect calibration for individual units.

More condescending denialism that people will use to justify thier buying decisions in their mind.

I just posted this in another thread, but it bears repeating.

You can try to dramatize this. But there is nothing new going on here.

I've owned apple products for 20+ years at this point (I got my first Power Mac 6500/275 in 1996) and I've seen Apple about to go out of business, turn into a trillion dollar company, and piss off "professionals" (really, arm chair engineers and nerds).

The first iPhone was a wreck. I had my handset replaced 12 times. I know other people who have similar stories. I loved that thing though. You can't tell me this is worse then that. Occasionally new products have problems. Look at the new MacBooks Pros, which are even more expensive then this phone. The price doesn't matter though really, Apple will make this right. And you can always just bring the phone back.

I'm not sure what your endgame is here. You can't even claim to be an enraged consumer, you didn't even buy the phone. Posting angrily on a forum is beyond pointless.

It's Saturday night, pour yourself a glass of your favorite poison and relax man.

Its the better phone. The design alone. Oh let's not forget the iPhone 8 never had issues at launch. Doesn't have signal or wifi issues, or wait... charging issues. Yeah I think its a no brainer.

Clearly you don’t own an x. I will never even consider going back to a phone with giant bezels and a fingerprint reader. The x is a far superior design. Far more efficient and far easier to use.

Or, I could just say....

different strokes for different folks. Yeah that’s more realistic. I won’t ever chose anything like the 8 again because it’s no where near as nice as an x style phone for me. If you like the old design that’s fine. But don’t claim it better for everyone, that it clearly is not. Because none necessarily is the best for everyone. Heck I still liked flip phones for a couple years after the first iPhones came out.

Of course I’m looking forward to the iPhone XX that is a folding smart phone with screen wrapping around all sides of the phone.

A premium product having issues...

Do I expect a Honda to have a few creaks and paint drips? Yeah. Do I expect the same form a Mercedes or BMW? NO!

No, a Mercedes and a BMW have higher quality. But I do foresee Apple products having issues early with first batches. Plus iPhones are meant to be more ubiquitous products, not only meant just for wealthy people.

LOL!!!

Sure, if you buy last years phone. A Fully loaded max with apple care and tax is just shy of $2000

your average college student isn't buying a $999 Xs

Not everyone is going to buy a 512gb phone with AppleCare either. Apple sells so many iPhones each fiscal year and quarter.

Why do you think BOGO American carrier deals, No interest financing, IUP, price cuts, sales, promos, etc exist? So only wealthy people can buy iPhones?

Just because the highest end iPhones keep increasing in price doesn’t preclude the devices from selling further.

Most people buy these on payment plans. My Max costs me 2$ a day, and I use my phone more then any other thing in my life. By that measure, these things are bargains.

Your point? Do I have to own something to criticise it? As a technology nerd I take an active interest in many products that I don't always own. You just can't take any criticism aimed towards Apple, would it make you feel better if I told you about all the stuff Samsung does wrong as well? there was a lot to hate about their phones before the S8 and thats why I was using other phones before then. As another example I own a 2011 MBA, its the best laptop I've ever owned, but i'm not buying the rubbish Apple is selling at the moment to replace it till they fix some of my concerns. Im sorry i'm to unbiased for your liking.

Er, if anyone is angry, it seems to be you. I just made an observation, based on what I was reading. I don't have an "endgame" in mind, just discussing iPhone things on an iPhone forum. Sure, I don't have an Xs yet - my 12 month cycle is in November and at that point I may or may not replace my X (depending on whether the issues reported get sorted). It doesn't, in any way, preclude me from discussing the issues Xs is experiencing at launch.

Thanks for your suggestion, but I choose not to drink alcohol. Doesn't fit into my lifestyle. I'm very relaxed though.
