Just want to clear one thing up. The x axis on these graphs is not brightness. All of the measurements are taken at the same brightness. The x axis is grayscale, so 0% is black, 25% is dark gray, 50% is medium gray, 75% is light gray, 100% is white. So the 12 Pro Max graph, for example, is telling us that, at this specific brightness (42%), white is well balanced, but dark grays have a lot of green tint.
This makes me want to get a colorimeter and play around, even though I have absolutely no use for one lol.
Makes me wonder how my iPad Pro screen measures.

I had kind of been wanting to calibrate my iMac and MacBook Pro screens anyways, and these iPhone 12 screen issues pushed me to finally get one. May even try to calibrate my TVs at some point, but that seems a lot more complicated.

I believe True Tone is just more aggressive toward yellow tint this year. If I turn it off on my 12 PM and XR the color is quite the same more on the blue side. If I turn it on. My 12PM is yellower than my XR. I don’t see this as a defect but different True Tone specs. The real issue is the raised black on these OLED display that will hopefully be addressed via a SW fix.

Holy crap. I thought this guy was crazy, but he's right! With both my iPhone X and 12 Pro Max displays off, the reflection of my white ceiling is noticeably more green on the 12 Pro Max, so it's definitely a hardware issue, possibly glass that is slightly green tinted. I wonder if the new ceramic shield glass is what's defective and not the displays themselves.
👍

12 PM on the left and 8+ on the right:
Left pic: True Tone on on both
Middle pic: True Tone off on 12PM and on on 8+
Right pic: True Tone off on both
When TT is off on both it has a quiet similar color... Hence my opinion about just having TT more agressive towards the yellow this year. If yo don’t like it just turn it off. It does not bother. When I go out under the sun my 12PM screen becomes really clear...the yellow tint is going away.

Pictures taken with a 5SE first gen 😉

It seems to me as one of the phone are tuned by color filter and higher contrast on. Sorry when I am wrong but the blue, grey or green background of the buttons looks not like the standard should looks.
Apologies you are correct, I had the high contrast on from messing about. Alas it makes no difference with it off as shown in attached photos. Also included a photo of the phones with the screens off and camera flash on. There is a difference but I’m not sure if that means anything. Also I do have a screen protector on my 12 pro max but not on XS max

What bothers me is that the same photo on my X looks crisp and nice and on my 12PM washed and dull...

I just had another delivery of the max today. It is in the middle of this picture. The previous max and mini are next to it. Not only is it not yellow. The screen pops and it is almost like the other Max’s screen is thicker and hence makes text look more washed out.

Looks really good. Would you mind posting the production date? Did you order directly from Apple? Thanks.

Can you post this showing no color filters, TT or night shift are on for any unit? This is the most compelling evidence of good 12s that I've seen.

Good deal. My 12 Regular has the same bright, cool, vibrant, display as your new Max. I just haven’t been able to get pics for others to see; glad you did.
Folks, the correct displays are out there. Don’t be convinced otherwise.

Now you are making me want to return my max. How easy was it for you to return it? Did you have to bring your phones and show them side by side so they can see the yellow?

Just to add to the dataset, I just purchased a new 12PM to compare to my launch day 12PM prior to returning the first one. The launch day phone (F2LDM serial) had the yellow screen as well as the green glow when displaying something black. The new phone (G0NDP serial) actually looks a bit yellower. It also has the green glow and flicker in the dark, though the glow is substantially dimmer than the first phone.

I know True Tone is working but now I don't know if I have that flicker issue as well. I saw something on start up but I never see it when using the phone.

Someone mentioned the blue pro max phones don’t have the screen issue. Is this true? If so I’ll exchange my gold pm for a blue pm sometime next month :)

Nope, 12 pro max Pacific Blue 512gb bought on 13 November, yellow screen

Just got my replaced iPhone 12 Pro Max. Still yellow tint.
Seems nearly all screens this year is significantly yellowish tint comparing with previous models, more or less. With my old phone traded in, I got no choice now.
I’ll probably stick with this one. hope for a software fix ( I know it’s not very possible )
