Agreed. I find it hard to believe that all 4 Pro Maxes I received were warm and Faulty. 4/4?! If there are ANY white ones out there, they’re rarer than Gold.

when you say this you mean that they were faulty with TT off? Because my replacement is ok with TT OFF, yellow and warmer than 11PM with TT ON

All of them had True Tone and night shift off. I never use TT. As said previously, they weren’t yellow, but compared to an 11 Pro Max etc. It was noticeably warmer.

Are you saying yours is exactly the same as your 11 PM?

with TT off they are nearly identical, the 12PM is very slightly warmer, but on a full white image the 12 PM is definitely better in my opinion. In the web page or page with images and fonts it looks a bit warmer but nothing that force me to swap.

With the toggle ON the 11 PM wins hands down.

thebpoint is that I’m used to TT ON since the 11PM :-/

I wonder if there's anyone here with a Silver iPhone PM and a yellow screen?

Graphite and Gold seem to be affected, Pacific Blue seems to be 50/50. By now i didn't read anything about a silver one with a yellow screen.
Mine is Silver 12 Pro, 256gb and I have all the same issues. Serial DNPD, production week 43 (October), factory DN (China, Chengdu-Foxconn) I have decided to return it, go back to my 7 and wait till after the first of the year and see if there are any improvements.

I just got my 2nd replacement now. Still the same issue with tint. Yellow white and green dark greys. I will just return it and try again in a few months, this is just stupid. This last one was even worse than the first.

Well I got a second Pro Max from Amazon and eagerly set it up.

Previous 12 Pro MaxNew 12 Pro Max

True tone off, auto-brightness off, the displays are virtually indistinguishable (i.e. both yellow). The new one is a tiny bit less bright, almost unnoticeably so. Neither suffers from the raised blacks issue.

I’m really bummed out. I’ve compared them to an iPad Air 3, a MacBook Pro early 2020 and an iPhone 8 Plus. Those are also really close to each other (the 8 Plus being the warmest of the bunch), but also all much cooler than the 12 Pros.
The 12 Pros with true tone off are about the same as the iPad with true tone on (under fairly warm light). It’s ludicrous.

Sigh. I’m definitely not getting an Apple product at launch again.
You compared an OLED to a bunch of LCD panels. Of course they are going to look different.

I'm starting to think that there are way more phones with bad panels out there than good. Every single Pro or Pro Max I have inspected so far has had too much green in them, making the the white seems warm and yellow and the low brightness greys seem green. I have not seen a single good panel, they are all bad compare to both my previous 11 Pro Max and X. Maybe it's actually the new ceramic shield?

They are all like this, varying degrees of yellow tint. Apple needs to adjust the colour profile across ALL IPhone 12’s.

First thing I noticed when I got my mini was the screen was a bit warm looking. Second thing I did was poke around in the settings and found that if I turn true tone off it looks fine. I have since compared it with my Samsung S20 FE 5g and a Pixel 3a, and there is no real difference in the color anymore. Maybe ever so slightly warmer but very very close.
Am I just lucky?

Is it just me, or is your 12PM still a bit warmer even with TT off
There is a certain degree of variance allowed in manufacturing. And I’m pretty sure with prolonged usage, the difference will decrease as the yellow ones become less yellow over time.
In other words by the time you’re ready to trade the PM in it will be cooler after a years use

Just received a week 47 PB Pro Max - serial starting G6TDQ. Left is my week 41 F2LDJ and right is the week 47 (1.5 weeks old) G6TDQ:

Which screen is better? The left screen flickers more in a dark room playing a black HDR video whereas the right phone only flickers slightly and not as often.
Right one looks better to me

I just bought a 12 to replace my mini...

I think the mini might be the most consistently bad-colored panel in the whole lineup. Mine is on its way back to Verizon... yesterday I made the switch to the regular 12, and the screen is noticeably better (comparison pics below). Too bad the phone is bigger than I’d like. But at least I won’t be obsessing about the screen color.

One thing I did notice about the larger screen though - there’s pretty extreme off-axis color shifting. It’s much worse than the mini in this regard. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes, my Silver Pro has horrible off axis color shift along with all the other problems people have been talking about. I'm talking with my wallet and returning it...going back to my 7

i’m a bit confused.
Off axis: the 12 is. It even, it turns green on the top. But honestly: who cares?

front: pretty the same with True Tone off.

Nope. Tons of examples of 12s with correct screens. I added one to the Op. go check it out.
Yelllow=defect
You’re overstating the amount of good screens with good proof posted here. Not saying there are none, but ”tons”?
Wouldn’t you agree that the chance of getting a good one is very slim this year?

Now i find that this same problem have 11 Pro/Max with OLED screens.

Actually Apple do nothing about that, and it was not only first batch. Now i have 11 Pro Max from July 2020 batch with yellow screen. They will do nothing again, it is a yellow hue, try to shift up or down your phone it will become different in hue (more green, or more white, or even more pink).

iPhone XS has last great looking display. Whats the problem with this newer displays? And why we all buy new iPhones with the same problems every year? Apple should give us some respect!

It is not only the money if someone make u donkey every year!

The used 11 Pro that I bought after I returned the 12 Pro has a much better screen than the 12 Pro, but still yellower than my wife’s XS.

Last year’s thread died down after the everyone who noticed the issue went into two groups: the settlers and the people who returned them for good. Unfortunately the same will happen this year while Apple will continue to be radio silent on the topic. They’re hoping the settlers and the users who don’t even notice the issue (I envy them) will be the largest group. The only thing that will make them act and take this seriously is a significant increase in the volume of returns.
