Again, whats wrong with the availability?
New lineup not available in every store, every country.

So I just got my replacement iPhone 12, but sadly it doesn't really look that different. I ordered the first iPhone 12 on 19.11.2020, unfortunately I did not note the serial number. The new serial number starts with DNPDP.
I would say on the photos the first one looks a little bit better but in reality the new one is the same or even a little bit better. Probably bad lighting. When looking from a different angle the yellow shift turns into a good white screen if you ask me.
So I don't know if I am going to replace it or maybe just get my money back and wait for 1-2 months and then try it again.

I’m sorry but you’re making a nonsense comparison. XR has a different technology in the panel. It’s an LCD/IPS.

the IPS are way better in white point, but worse in other sides.

I'm aware that these are different technologies, but a good calibrated display should look more similar even if it is a different display technology shouldn't it?
I also compared my iPhone 12 to my iPhone XR and the Xs of my brother (don't have any photos of that) and the Xs looked more or less the same to the Xr.

Just compared my iPad Pro 2018 vs my 12PM. I think it looks OK. My real issue are the raised black thing and pixel not turning off. I know there is another thread for that. I also noticed that with TT ON under bright light my 12PM is getting brighter that my iPhone XR and IPad Pro with TT ON too. But I know these are LCD vs OLED.

In person my 12 is clearly more yellow than my XR but in a photo it looks like the XR is more yellow. The photo is taken with another iPhone XR. Is there a reason for this ?

Also how is it possible for Apple to fix warm screens through a software update, isn't this a hardware issue ?

Cheers.

The nonsense is what you posted. An accurate screen is an accurate screen, no matter the tech. If oled can’t match the accuracy of lcd, it’s inferior tech end of story.

of course, oled can and frequently does match or exceed lcd.

what your saying?
We are talking about a comparisons that is a no sense. Period. Why the heck we should compare and find a similarity in two different things?

Looks like Apple got fed up of me. Well, if they sorted their quality control there’d be no need for multiple returns.
Do I create a new Apple ID?

Just ensure only one phone is in your cart. Nothing to do with returns

The comparison makes perfect sense. The new screen is either better or it isn’t. Endo of story. Doesn’t matter if you are comparing to lcd, crt, plasma, led, whatever.

Picked up a 12 Pro last night. The screen seemed VERY yellow to me in the evening and I was concerned. Poured over the comments here and on other forums, but didn't get a chance to take any photos.

Woke up this morning to take photos and was surprised that the 12 Pro (right) seemed much cooler in the morning light (window), though still warmer than the X (left).

I personally think the display is calibrated to be warmer, and the TrueTone is quite aggressive in artificial light.

I believe the serial number starts with D6T. I don't think I will be returning as I don't see any other issues mentioned here like flickering or green blacks.

Go into a pitch black room, reboot your phone and watch the screen - look around the Apple logo for slight green and then just before the Lock Screen appears see if you get a green/grey halo around the entire screen for a second or so. If you don’t then your screen is good.

I think that even if you have the TT deactivated indoors, the screen intentionally turns yellow, that's what happens to everyone, but as I said, I think it is intentional.

I have noticed that when you go outside and the daylight hits it, the screen becomes super white and the colors are real.

yes that’s completely normal behavior.
Usually the TT performs great when’s outside, well, until the 11PM.

In many open air situation the TT of make my 11PM worst than without it.

With the 12PM it’s a different story. The TT is so aggressive that even in outside scenarios it make the screen a s***t.

you should compare same technology to have any kind of evidence. Because every technology have its specs. This is a general rule of thumb in the product reviewing.

Here the people complain about an overall ugly display, made with OLED technology.

I might just wait until January and if it's not fixed by then i'll return it.

I lose about 50 nits of brightness but by keeping colour tint on and putting the hue to about 75% seems to give the display a nice colour. Will keep it like this until then.

I feel like this as well in that I have the color filter hue at around 70% (0% intensity) and it seems to look fine to me. It loses some brightness but that’s about it. Toggling the filter and normal screen, all it does is remove the ugly yellow tint which is what I want.

I still feel pretty iffy on keeping a $1,300 phone and having a color filter on to make it look normal but if this is a problem with like 95% of the screens, I almost feel like I could just settle with it the way it is now and live with the filter on.

I’m so torn. It annoys me so much Apple put us in this position. Just...give us a decent product. Ugh.

Ya i agree. No way i'm keeping it if they don't fix it in an update. I don't mind waiting a month if they are really working on it. If we're able to make it look good in the colour filter than i don't see why Apple can't address this with a software update.

This "fix' doesn't address the issue if you use true tone because true tone stays the same deep yellow no matter what you do with the colour filter. In my case anyway.
