theliellama not sure what you find funny and I really don't care and are not gonna follow up on a answer. It worked on my 12 pro and am happy that it is software and I don't have to to deal with repair, since I am out of return window. But also happy that I didn't start to bother with exchanging without guarantee, because it would be a troublesome process and it felt like software related on a otherwise perfect device. I don't feel a need to follow this thread closely and it also does seem to go in circles without much constructive progress, when I check. But apple really need to fess up and act. I have reported to Apple, both before and after. Still hope they fix true tone or make it adjustable. As it is, it is a non-feature. It may work in daylight/summer (don't know, haven't tested), but unusable in the dark.

It is true tone related. Mine is fine now with true tone disabled. I fixed it by repeatedly toggle true tone under a bright lamp. True tone is still to red for my taste, at least in dark environment.

Guy Ive see 3 different iPhones 12 Pro Max. One my own, 1 work and 1 was a replacement for the second.

All look ok (without tolerance) at anything other than max brightness. My own phone doesn't go red at all. But the other 2 with True Tone on, Night shift on and lying in bed, the bottom of the phone is a dull red in settings with dark menu. I turn off True Tone and night shift and its gone. I turn on True Tone and night shift but then turn off dark mode and its gone too.

All different serial numbers too.

There was 3 weeks in-between iPhone builds so its must be a pretty common issue.

As I already mentioned earlier in this thread I am happy with my 12 Pro Max, but I have also noticed that the True-Tone or the general display adjustment is very aggressive this year.

Sometimes my display turns more yellowish inside, but outside when it is confronted to natural light it is always crispy clean. It even looks better with true tone on than without.

I prefer a little bit warmer screen over a cold bluish one. :)

Here's two Minis. Not the best camera but the one on the left is noticeably warmer. Can't even say which one I prefer.

I had the same yellow tint issue on my iPhone 12 Mini, I was disappointed. Today I gave a try and removed the screen protector which was installed right when I purchased the phone - with a little hope. To my surprise, problem solved for me. I am pretty much surprised how yellow/warm is this protector (I dont't know the brand). I know for some people the problem comes from something else, still wanted to share my experience in the hope it will help someone. I ordered a Belkin Ultraglass screen protector from the Apple online store, I think it will be better.

I’ve won the screen lotto, finally. New iPhone 12PM PB received today from a major UK Retailer - Build Week 47 (16th - 22nd Nov) - G6TDQ

This device:
- has white whites
- no pink, green hues or green colour shift on tilt
- a fully even screen - no pink in the corners/sides
- True Tone doesn’t look pi** yellow and is subtle when on
- blacks are ink black and images pop more
- no gaps between screen and bezel - testing with the Apple logo sticker
- no green/grey screen on boot in a dark room
- no flickering when watching a black screen YouTube video at 25%> brightness - the screen turns completely off

This one is a keeper and I’m done now. There are good screens out there but there are more bad than good.

Left is the bad screen and right is the keeper. Good luck to people still going through the motions.

If it is really true with the black flickering etc., then it would be the evidence for an HW issue. Sorry but I am hoping you are wrong.

When you say there’s no gap it’s nearly not possible. Probably you mean no bare eye evident gap, if so ... ok. Because for the before mentioned reasons posted by a user a gap must be somewhere.

best way is to check with the apple sticker. But it’s better not to check 😀 it’s not an issue if the sticker slide in in many part of the frame.

Is it possible to go into an Apple store and request a later production serial number? Or a specific serial number based on the first five letters?

I checked with the Apple sticker from the box and it doesn’t slot in like it freely did on the other one.

Correct. But no gap evident to eye under light. Tried paper and apple sticker defo not going in :)

Not everyone is getting the flickering which suggest hardware due to different component manufacturers, potentially.

Are specific build weeks impacted?

My 12PM is a BW45 (G0NDN), and with True Tone on it's unusable to my eyes, way too yellow. I switched it off the moment I configured, but even now I can't say I'm 100% happy with the white v yellow levels. Compared to my outgoing XS, it still feels warmer.

Given I'm BW45, is this me or the phone?

From what I've seen so far yes. After seeing how devices from W47 look like, I asked for a replacement device few minutes ago. My 12PM: GNNDP, G9Q0 (display), 46th week.

4 fast/lazy readers ;) yes, True Tone and Night Shift off. Result: no whites, only piss yellow display. No, it isn’t warm white, its yellow. Period.

How are you guys still getting new devices? I'm well outside the 2 week return policy and I bought on launch day so I don't have extended returns.

Until 14 days I click on the return function in the Apple store app. With this you get your Return lable and again 14 days to give it to ups. In the meantime I ordered new one.
