I am 100% sure that your phone has the raised blacks issue as it is software related and affects all of them. Please post proof at the lowest brightness in a dark room with the below YouTube video.

I’m also willing to bet it does have a gap somewhere around the edge. The tolerances are not tight enough and this will NOT be changed as there is a gap required for heat expansion and display replacements. You may not be able to see it but I guarantee if you run paper around all the edges and corners that it will go in at some point...
Of the three iPhone 12s I have tested so far - two mine and one my wife’s, none had the “raised black” issue. Assuming that to successfully past the test, one needs to play that video with minimum brightness in a dark room and not be able to see any light.

On the “gap” that you described, I’m personally not going to even test it. Not something that is issue in my view.

Yellow screens are definitely an issue.

I have received responses by emailing all the Apple executives in the past. Some executive assistant will likely read your email and if it warrants a response then you will get one. I would submit both feedback to Apple feedback and send an email to them all.

where did you wrote please? I have literally no email address to write in.

Please check for a change in hue, or areas where it is more green/red than others on minimum brightness like this post.

there you go - in real person it doesn’t appear to be too bad

Yellow screens are a widespread issue.
Based on my small sample - people who write on forums, units used by reviewers and from what I have personally witnessed - including all models at my apple store in London in regent street - the yellow issue exists in all models.
However, in some screens more than others. And in those with a higher yellow level, from what I could see, they also had worse greys (greenish tinge) and also an issue that when the panel is titled a bit, a white screen appears as blueish. That doesn’t happen on my model.
All in all, I really have reasons to conclude I should just keep my model, if it wasn’t for the fact I have an issue nobody else seems to be affected by..
if you watch the video, see the grey bars flowing into the black and then going back in place.

My wife’s 12 and my friend’s 12 pro doesn’t do it as much as mine.

i m using iphone 12 pro, I got yellow tint issue but not raised black, even if you return it i think it will be mostly the same... i think the yellow tint screen > normal screen..... and with same settings, the iphone 12 pro really yellowish compared to iphone x although both using the same oled...

Please how do you recognize the raised blacks issue or what does it actually mean? Thanks for the explanation...I've already returned 2x 12mini due to yellow piss display and next I will try only in February if I find that already go good screens

If you don't notice it, it's better to just not notice it.
So dont do this
In a completely dark room, set the brightness to 50% and touch the black image.
The image will glow for a few seconds and then disappear, but it will glow again when you touch it.
It's hard to tell if it's a black video or a startup screen.

Thanks for clarifying. I didn't even notice. I couldn't use that yellow piss display for more than a couple of hours. These displays are total ****. Great disappointment

I've already returned my mini twice. I'm tired of it. In the meantime, I'll stick with my 7 and the beautifully white on display. And let's see if January-February will be good screens or wait for the next model

I think the screen issues will be fixed with a softwareupdate, but Apple needs some time.

Some iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max had a very similiar issue, with green greys and they fixed it with software. OnePlus an Samsung had the same issues and also fixed it with software....

Even if not every iPhone 12 has the raised blacks or yellow tint it is not sure whether it is hardware defect or not. Different Phones mean many different components from different manufactures. That is also the reason, why some phones for example do not start again or have massive battery drain after a softwareupdate and some not.

is it really a launch problem or eventually it will be fixed as long as you dont get it at launch? My friend bought her iphone x like 1 year ++ after launch and dont have any yellow tint issues... both actually

Iphone 12pro v iPhone X

Dark Mode off,
True Tone off,
night mode off
No colour filters applied

Basically all settings on both phones the same but the 12p screen looks dim side by side to iPhone X.
If I turn the auto brightness off on both phones and wait a few seconds then the X doesn’t change and just looks the same but the 12p goes as bright as the X?

Is this a fault?

Why should I need to turn off AB on the phone just to avoid looking dim? Why are the 2 phones behaving differently? Apple even recommends to keep AB switched on
Help please

My wife’s 12 and my friend’s 12 pro doesn’t do it as much as mine.
That is normal for an amoled screen. All my Samsung S families did this. It's called 'amoled smearing'. Indeed it's a good sign you don't have a raised black issue ! If you had the issue, like my 12 PM did, you wouldn't have that since the blacks would not be turned off as it should on an Amoled screen. And that's also why some ppl thought the raised black issue was ''a technique'' by Apple to avoid Amoled Smearint - but it's not at all. My friend's Iphone 12 without raised blacks issue also had this smearing, like my Samsung S10+ for exemple.

My 12Pro behaves the same way. One guy here keeps saying it's a Ambient Light Sensor defect..It's possible but I don't know for sure. I plan on waiting till the production is better and then compare it with an iPhone in the store. If it's really a hardware defect it will show and it will be a good argument to get a replacement unit, which will hopefully also solve my slightly yellow tint ;)

My wife’s iPhone 12 and my mate’s iPhone 12 pro don’t have the “raised blacks” issue And the a OLED smearing on theirs is much less noticeable. I discovered a few websites i visit frequently that have that all black background, with grey bars, and as you scroll up and down the smearing is noticeable On mine.
I also showed the videos to an apple senior member of support, who eventually recommended I go for a replacement, if I am still in time...

I should add that my wife’s iPhone 12 and my mate’s iPhone 12 pro, despite not having the “raised blacks” issue And a much better OLED smearing, their yellow tone was worse than mine and their greys worse than mine (more green).

Not sure if I should see a correlation in that.
The only logical explanation is that since their screens display the greys with a green tone, then the “amoled smearing” effect is less noticeable...
