Absolutely, I experience the same. There’s definitely a pattern you just haven’t tried to find it. I’m willing to bet anywhere near natural daylight it’s okay and anywhere indoors it’s crappy.
Depending the light of the environment, it definitely can get colder temp than what display shows with True Tone off.Anyone notice that is bright light conditions, the screen appears warmer with TT off? Shouldn’t be the opposite?
I notice this too. When I went outdoors today my screen looked pretty bad with True Tone off. When I turned True Tone on, my whites became very crisp.Anyone notice that is bright light conditions, the screen appears warmer with TT off? Shouldn’t be the opposite?
Lightning could be a possible trigger but why the hell should I disable True Tone ?You’ve taken the two photos in different lighting. One is dark and the other is in a light room. Disable night shift and True Tone, then try again and post your results.
Strongly disagree all you want they don’t care lol.Lightning could be a possible trigger but why the hell should I disable True Tone ?
That’s also what Apple support asked me to do, and I strongly disagree.
This phone is supposed to work correctly with all his features, TT included.
Both the iPad and the iPhone on the picture have TT enabled so to me, the comparison is fair.
Night shift was off, so it’s out of the way.
Will try tomorrow with different lightning though
I have been thinking about this since I bought it, in fact I already mentioned it one day on this topic. Although the true tone is off, the screen changes tone depending on whether you are indoors or outdoors. Outdoors the screen looks white and indoors it turns yellowish with the TT turned off.Depending the light of the environment, it definitely can get colder temp than what display shows with True Tone off.
It's really weird. You'd almost think it's a bug with TT somehow not fully turning off, but then people say they've got good panels, so WTF is going on? LOL.I have been thinking about this since I bought it, in fact I already mentioned it one day on this topic. C7CDJ - Week 41 manufacture. So you have an iPhone 12 Mini with no yellowish screen ? Could you please give 5 first characters of serial ?
I just have my second Mini and it's always yellow. My SN start with C6KDN
Accordind to this site https://en.tab-tv.com/?p=18929 it seems "DN" was product on week 45..
Not if it’s oled. Will be same. Apple oled has been a shtshowAnyone kinda, almost just gonna wait till iPhone 13?
🤔
So iPhone 11 pros were not good with white balance? iPhone X/XS was perfectNot if it’s oled. Will be same. Apple oled has been a shtshow
My 11 PM was perfect. So iPhone 11 pros were not good with white balance? iPhone X/XS was perfect
Ím considering getting a 11 PM and return my 12 PM because this yellow screen pandemic. Would you recommend it?My 11 PM was perfect.
IAfter a couple of swaps I had ended up with a non yellow or minimally yellow mini albeit with more noticeable colour shift off angle. Was finally happy with a screen after two swaps but have a faulty volume button and have to re enter the screen lottery. Very sad.
C7CDJ - Week 41 manufacture.
it’s not ‘no yellow’ but way better side by side with another mini I had. It’s still not as crisp with whites as my XS. I don’t have the raised blacks issue and have tested in all lighting and brightness settings and have perfect uniformity across the entire panel. It’s just unfortunate I have a dodgy volume button and have to return it!
According to serial number it’s from a legation factory. Replacement on its way is a week 44 from a Foxconn.
Anyone know if there’s a difference from factory to factory? I’ll be pretty annoyed if this nice white mini is replaced with a yellow screen or raised blacks.
Please search and read this same thread for the 11 Pro series. Same issue, but not as widespread as in the 12 series. My 11 Pro from week 39 has a slight yellow tint, but still noticeably better than any 12 series I have seen in person. I’ve seen various XS in person that have better whites and colors than my 11 Pro.Ím considering getting a 11 PM and return my 12 PM because this yellow screen pandemic. Would you recommend it?
No. Apple has complete control over the display calibration. If the new glass was slightly yellow/green they could have easily adjusted their calibration to compensate.Could it be that it’s all due to ceramic shield? 🤨
we dont need eye health, we need white... the yellowish we can just adjust later instead of starting with yellow tint...No. Apple has complete control over the display calibration. If the new glass was slightly yellow/green they could have easily adjusted their calibration to compensate.
This ugly tint is intentional, probably for eye health. Not sure why they thought a different color temperature from their macs/iPads/watches would go over well.
So might be better to wait for future batches of 12´s or get an 11 PM? Thanks for your advicesPlease search and read this same thread for the 11 Pro series. Point is: don’t assume that any 11 Pro/Max you get your hands on will be perfect. You are still playing a lottery, but definitely with better odds than with the 12 series.
I disagree. If you buy a new 11PM right now and it is yellow, that’s just bad luck. It is pretty much guaranteed that you’ll get a “whiter” screen from an 11PM.Please search and read this same thread for the 11 Pro series. Same issue, but not as widespread as in the 12 series.
