Excuse me Sir. You don’t have to be RUDE or call me a TROLL in anyway. Please don’t talk to me like that. So much hate in 2021 already? If you have nothing nice or positive to say please don’t post. I’m just trying to help everyone out to understand...

Please do your research and review my comment. Post #4919.

I hope you get what you are looking for... otherwise, all the very best :) Happy new year.

nobody has been rude with you madame, we are on a technical forum and you keep on posting useless screenshot of your white screen.

many people told you that the screenshot are useless but you keep on posting this stuff. So it’s just a bit frustrating see people post screenshot on a tech forum in 2021 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Last sentence, I know the feeling.
And if by magic ( curse ) I opened the new iphone 12 pro max and the frame is scratched out of the box . I literally opened box and peeled factory screen protector off to apply my own protector and saw the table lamp reflect of the areas in question. Albeit I carried on putting on the screen saver. I can't be bothered anymore. Least the screen is uniform and nice.

sucks but if the screen is nice I wouldn't swap either. maybe you can polish the scratches out since silver is the only one that doesn't have that PVT coat?

is that silver or gold? If silver, you can try to polish it out.

What color is the frame ? Gold ?

Me, for around $1000 i want a perfect spotless display but oddly enough little scuffs like this don't both me much. If you're happy with the display i would keep it.

What you could do is speak to Apple and maybe they will give you a small discount back. Lot's of companies will do this just to avoid having to take the item back.

Yes, it's a gold one the scratches appear/ feel like gouges on the perpendicular edge , I took at a jeweler loup and it would appear the gold anodizing was done after the fact. Meaning somewhow it passed for color coding and assembly this way.
I'm hesitant to return it and rebuy again, meaning to to my order page and print a return label. Or would that be the best approach with least hassle ?

Edit. I apologise. I didn't fully read your post. Do I call apple or speak online. ? I wish I'd have inspected it before leaving store.

Edit 2. Just got off phone with Apple, after the rep consulted with his colleagues and being on hold a few times he suggested I go back to the store that I purchased it from. I suggested if I could send it back for a refund via mail he said yes. So I'll see what I'll do shortly.

So decided to go to Sam’s Club today to grab some salad and raspberries. Suddenly, I started comparing my iPhone Pro Max display’s with the store DEMO unit. Yes, people were looking at me funny. Luckily the store associate wasn’t there...

In Conclusion: It looked like my iPhone had a whiter tone yet subtle white. Also, a sharper display. Both iPhones had 100% brightness on. True Tone off obviously.

It’s just the luck of the draw. I don’t have a yellow or warm hue. Thankfully.

Oh also, I forgot to turn off the flash 💡 light from the display model... guess it’s going to stay on for hours... Doh 🙄
Posting screenshots to show the white balance is exactly as useful as posting screenshots to show us your screen is cracked. The screenshots only show what the software is sending to the display. Screenshots cannot show us how your screen actually looks in person. Please stop posting screenshots.

I would just call in in hopes of speaking to a senior advisor.

Please kindly refer to post #4919 to see the observation.

This was just a fun experiment that’s all.

If I just mail it back as a return ( then start over )I’m concerned that they may say that it’s damaged although it’s not very noticeable unless looking for it. If I book a Genius appointment and spend another hour so of driving and tolls to get there I guess they’ll replace it or refund me if they have one available. Just thinking out a aloud lol. Or I could just enjoy it and not worry and in 12 months time upgrade. I don’t think the damage would decline a trade in. But who knows.

Well if you do decide to do a mail in repair I would make sure to let the Apple rep (over the phone) know that the iPhone you received was damage and inform them to notate the case and return ID.
That’s probably going to be the easiest option.

If you do book a genius appointment they will most likely will swap it out depending on availability ofcourse.

Good luck to you :)

My phone on the right compared to a Walmart model on the left. Same brightness level.

Unfortunately it’s gold and also there’s a few chunks missing out in those areas of concern. So polishing would be out of the equation for me. On a plus a note, it’s easily verifiable upon closer inspection that it’s a factory defect since those effected areas are still gold in colored. Assuming a drop or user damage would cause it to silver ?

From what I have seen with my apples bought in last couple of years almost all of them had some scratches or dents right out of the box. Both of our 12 Pro’s had minor scratches on the steel edge. Same happened with my previous iPhone, iPad and both Macbooks. I know I’m unlucky with electronic toys but I think there is more than just my bad luck with these

What about the other two pictures I posted? What do you think of those?

UPDATE: I posted more pics below taken with an iPhone 11 in both night mode and with night mode off. What do you think of those?
