Until I get rid of my iPhoneXr the yellow hue is going to annoy me.

Using colour filters does help a lot in reducing the yellow-ness.
Some are against it as it also reduces brightness, but it doesn’t bother me and I don’t notice it.

bigger question In my view, thinking of using it more longer term

does using colour filters affect battery life?

There's no reason the color filter itself would use more battery life than no filter. In fact if you don't counter the brightness loss by increasing the brightness, you might even use less battery since the output will be less bright than without filter.

Went through the Apple Support replacement process; gonna see if the replacement is any better than the launch day device. They tacked on the $33 replacement fee in error and I won't be able to get that back until after I mail back the replacement; I'll make sure the agent removes that next time. Took over 90 minutes to initiate the replacement, but probably still faster than going to the Genius Bar in person (last Apple retail replacement took nearly four hours with an appointment!).

Also still have the iPhone 11 Pro Max for comparison. Anyone with both an iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 have any luck with their replacement iPhone 12 matching their iPhone 11 lately?

Update.
I asked Apple and they mentioned it does affect battery life.

they also mentioned to keep checking the next iOS as it may correct it 🤪

Please kindly refer to post #4919 to see the observation.

This was just a fun experiment that’s all.
Could you please explain the "fun-factor" of this "experiment", which is posting screenshots for like the 3rd or 4th time? People here have already told you more than once that this is absolutely useless, yet you keep on doing it. So I can totally understand that some are getting rude and call you a troll. Either you really are a troll, or you have an agenda here to downplay the issue.

Or do you really believe that a screenshot is showing the white-balance of the screen? But even if this is the case, we have told you many times, that it is not...

Every time you are called out, you keep referring to your post #4919, that's ok, and you did post pictures of a comparison there (which clearly show the yellow tint and lower contrast by the way)
But what has this post to do with you repeatedly making screenshots?

To summarise: I think that you are either making fun of people that have (rightfully) concerns with the expensive product they bought (trolling), or you are having an agenda with downplaying the issue. Or do your really still don't understand that a screenshot is useless? Which is it?

Yeah unless you talked to a real engineer I would take all that with a big fat grain of salt.
I'm hoping to be proven wrong though.
She didn’t Seem the most competent adviser
Needed to look up what colour filters are first.

But I assume she must have read it somewhere that it might impact battery life, as I assume they would generally avoid concluding something like that which Is negative, unless there is some truth behind?

And if by magic ( curse ) I opened the new iphone 12 pro max and the frame is scratched out of the box . I literally opened box and peeled factory screen protector off to apply my own protector and saw the table lamp reflect of the areas in question. Albeit I carried on putting on the screen saver. I can't be bothered anymore. Least the screen is uniform and nice.
I had something similar and it turned out to be hard glue - try scratching/cleaning it off.

I have actually a iPhone 12 Pro from 49/2020 (looks yellow compared to my old iphone 6s) and i will get Thursday a new iPhone 12 pro. i'll compare the two displays and will upload a pic.
if both look worse i'll send both back and wait for the iPhone 13 Pro.

LOL, that's the point!

My phone on the right compared to a Walmart model on the left. Same brightness level.

On both do you have Auto Brightness turned on/off in Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Auto-Brightness ? I'm not talking about the Auto-Brightness setting in Display & Brightness.

Also are they the exact same phone ? One isn't a pro model ?

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️....

I was hoping it was residue also but alas it wasn’t.

I wish it were residue but alas it wasn’t. When viewing imperfections closer using a loupe it’s actually pits and chunks missing from the stainless steel. The defects are still gold colored which in my mind shows perhaps it was present prior to the frame being treated with the gold color.

Posting screenshots to show the white balance is exactly as useful as posting screenshots to show us your screen is cracked. The screenshots only show what the software is sending to the display. Screenshots cannot show us how your screen actually looks in person. Please stop posting screenshots.
This person has done this about 3 time already, im 96.4 percent sure she or he is a troll 😂 😂 but yet again I see no benefit to trolling a iPhone tech forum unless you play the android fanboy role 😂

That's Apple's classic "We need to close the case because it is taking too long to fix and our 'resolution' rate is suffering" response.
