sorry guys, I don't remember if the topic was covered, but after the update to ios 14.5 beta the green tint still appears while watching a video on youtube in landscape? or is this problem due to a youtube problem and has nothing to do with the iphone?

however I still haven't figured out if the quality of the panels is lower this year or if Apple wanted to calibrate the new Iphone 12 with a more yellow tint

Does anyone else here have a G9Q panel?

It is the one that my iPhone carries and compared to my girlfriend's which is a G9N it is identical.
I have a G9Q panel and I also had two G9N panels, one was cool and one was a little warmer but both quite uniform and sharp, The G9Q appears to be like the G9N that is a little warmer but no way yellow and I think probably the best in terms of being uniform and colour accuracy all round in photos and videos. I don’t know know if the G9Q is a bad panel grade as I’ve read on this forum but mine looks great.

You have a important security software update that needs addressing 😁👆

Nice looking panel.

I think if Apple fix anything, it will be an over aggressive True Tone. It turns my screen much more yellow than TT does on my iPad 5 Mini when sat side by side. Without TT, I don’t find my screen to be too bad on my 12 Pro (week 1 21).

for a pro device, proper screen calibration by a user with Colorimeter would be nice, but I cannot see it happening. Datacolor used to have an iPad app that could calibrate the screen, but it was solely a picture viewer and the calibrated profile did not apply outside the app.

That is exactly my argument. But they have refused to replace my wife's as its "only cosmetic" and she could not get to the original carriers store within the 7 day return window as its by appointment only and their shops do not have models on display anymore (or anyone that could do anything anyhow without referring to service) meaning a special trip to an Apple authorized center to check the apparent differences between other 12's - not happy at all with the outcome.

I wish Apple would start hiring some technicians with decent eyesight. All the front of house staff could see the difference between hers and the display models immediately.

In my opinion G9P stands for Samsung

Found this:
Prefix G9N: Samsung Good Grade panel (Very low chance of being a bad panel).
Prefix G9P: Samsung Poor Grade Panel (Moderate chance of being a bad panel).
Prefix GVC: LG Good Grade Panel (Moderate chance of being a bad panel).
Prefix GH: LG Poor Grade Panel (High chance of being a bad panel).
This has been posted on here a few times and what I don’t understand is a few people mentioned that they have a G9Q panel which is not listed on there. The grades maybe true as I have had a G9P and G9N and also a G9Q and I can confirm all three are uniform and not yellow with true tone on, close to perfect white, a little blue with true tone off , so if the prefix are correct then G9Q is missing from the list , does anyone know why? There could be more prefix grades we know about

Whatever about the physical color "as it stands", it's something can obviously be sorted by a software fix or the addition of a calibrator.

I don't doubt for one second the displays are perfectly capable of displaying the correct colors - but right now its like playing music on a set of AirPods with no EQ adjustment - utterly unenjoyable.

This is a 12 pro that was made in Week 3 in January and I have no clue on how the check which panel I got with the Samsung or Lg and I would really like to know how to check that because all I have a yellow tinted white, blacks are perfect and no flickers.

All iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max models are using Samsung screens. So this panel ID theory is rubbish:

“Samsung Display ended up shipping the panels for the higher-end ‌iPhone 12‌ models and the iPhone 12 mini, while LG Display made panels for the standard 6.1-inch ‌iPhone 12‌.”

So the green tint issue on my 12 pro max is because of samsung, damn you samsung. 🤬

So would the phone be considered defective then. Because it has a little yellow tint but none of the other problems

Noticed the yellowish screen on my 12 pro instantly on first use that prompts me to google for this issue in the first place.

Went into apple store to get some help. Compared to few of the displays and mine definitely is more yellowish and less brightness. However the tech guy insisted that it looks the same and suggest turning off True Tone would make it better.

Now, my thing is I should not have to turn off True Tone or use any of the other settings workaround to get a whiter screen. My reasoning is that it just means I’m not getting the optimised full potential of the screen display that I was promised. And being a pricey premium phone, I expect nothing short of the highest quality and couldn’t be bother horsing around settings, wasting time with fixes in an apple store etc.

Ended up getting a full refund. I’m no expert but I think it’s the hardware/ panel is not up to standard instead of a software issue. Have to say I’m a bit disappointed with apple after 10 years of being a loyal customer. Not sure if this is a wider issue affecting more phones or people just don’t really care, but I do hope apple will officially recognise this an an issue and take necessary steps to rectify it.

Apparently, no, Apple does not consider it faulty if the largest part of the device does not perform as expected.

Not everyone has great color vision. Just like millions of people think Spotify and Apple Music sounds "great".
