Yes, I can imagine that in some countries it is difficult to get a replacement. I would suggest that you wait for Apple to get these issues sorted if you cannot return easily. Many of us are having to go through multiple replacements.

yes is very difficult to me... believe me...

Apple really report that issues? I feel a complete mistery depart of apple on that things... yes I want wait but I doubt that apple report anything.

maybe I wait for the new mavericks update, maybe apple say something about it...

(On the picture, just like on all the ones posted here, it looks kind of yellowish outside the middle, but irl it did not.)

So today I know for a fact that there are clear screens.
I where at the store where I bought mine, and their display unit had a perfect screen, at least as far as i could tell in the shop. They opened a new one for me as the replacement and it also looked perfect in store. Its always a bit harder to see under their lights, but on my other computer you could see the yellow tint in the store when I showed it for them.
So tomorrow I'm going back with this unit and picking up my replacement unit with perfect screen :)
Yeeeeyyyyyy.

Couldn't check if it was LG or Samsung, but as long as it don't have IR and yellow tint in some area, I'm happy :)

I just hope that the lights in the store didn't hide the tint on the unit I'm getting. He put the computer between to shelfs, to make it darker around. But i couldn't see any tint then either. On the current computer I have atm, you could see it out in the lights. And this one has a very small tint.

and here is another one at full brightness

As a technical photographer and engineer I don't see how much information can be gleaned from small jpgs taken with an unknown camera.

All lenses have a certain amount of vignetting (darkening in the corners) and a colour cast, not to mention automatic white balance throwing *everything* off kilter. Anyone making commented based on these photos has 0 credibility.

Buy a spectrophotometer and make the measurement.

Geez, the internets...

I already did a calibration with a spectrophotometer - then i checked the result of the calibration on 4 different places of the screen. also the visible "light yellow" edges. the result was, that there are deviations mainly in the greytones, but the overall result of all 4 areas is within a "green" range and usable.
deviations always in greytones, colors looked quite good
For me this is a sing, that also the angle of view has influence on that issue

I mentioned this in a topic once, and people said nah it is still representative...glad I'm not the only one here that thinks it's pretty much meaningless.

I wish I could write a sticky or two on:
1. Screen colour-casts and un-eveness, calibration and how you can't take pictures of it (unless you really know what you're doing)
2. Image retention and LCD technology
3. Batteries - how to determine (extrapolate) battery life and the care-and feeding of Lithium battery technologies

Subparts:
a. Battery chargers.
b. Ground leakage (the tingling you get sometimes when you hold onto your macbook when it's plugged in)

Well, the Laptop Battery Guide guide is at the top of the forum, but the same questions still get repeated regularly..

Though at least with those stickies there would be places to point those who ask.

how? how you say "hey apple I dont like my screen give me one with NO yellow tint" ??? they just send other and maybe have the same problem...

No no.
Let me start over.
I bought a rMBP a few days after release.
I saw immediately that it had a yellow tint, so i went back, and they ordered a new one for me, but i got to keep the one with the yellow tint until i got the new one.
So today i was in the store to check if my replacement had arrived.
And it had, so i asked them to open it to check if it also had a yellow tint.
So they did and we checked and couldn't find any.
So tomorrow I'm returning with my old rMBP and giving them that, and they are giving me the new replacement rMBP. I couldn't swap it today, cos i did not bring my old rMBP.

They also had a display unit in the store that had not tint, and thats what i took a picture of.

Sure the replacement could have the same issue. But since it is a issue and not suposed to be like that, you can't take for granted that its going to have a yellow tint, so there is no reason to order a new one.

So basically they had goten 2 rMBP with no tint, one for me and one they have on display.
At least no tint in their lighting. If it has absolutely no tint, i will se tomorrow when i get it home and can use it when its darker around.

So, you're saying that you've seen two now without yellow tint and without any noticeable uneven temperature?

So you are saying that what I see on my screen and then when I see the exact same thing in the photo that the photo is wrong? Absolutely the photo will represent a known problem.

BUT... if you are taking photos and then asking other if this screen is okay without seeing anything for yourself, then I agree that the user is asking for trouble and the results can be unreliable.

Personally, if the photo confirms what you see in real life then it's real. No special Ghostbuster tools are needed to analyze the screen!:)

Yes, anyone posting a photo should ask him/herself whether the photo is representative of what he/she sees. If so and only if so is it worth it to post the photo. I took one photo of my screen and it looked much worse in the photo than it does in reality (even though it aint great in reality), so I did not post the photo.

Yes that is exactly what I'm saying.
But like i said, I can't be 100% sure until tomorrow when I get to bring one of them home, and can look when its not under the lights in the store.

All the ones I saw were bad enough that it was noticeable under the lights in the store. So, it does seem like it's probable yours will be good. I'm hoping that what's going on here with all these bad screens was the result of a manufacturing problem that has been sorted now by Apple. Fingers crossed!

From a Pro Photographer shoot at least a 50mm or longer lens stop it down to about 5.6 to avoid any vignetting . On a tripod shoot dead straight and level at the screen. Do not use auto White balance either. Use daylight setting but you still may need to use a color checker to get the color correct. Remember the kelvin temp is different in the room you are shooting than the screen itself. So you have to be careful to get the WB correct or this is all in vein. I shoot RAW only and than process it myself. Here I would fine tune the WB pretty much off the middle of the screen and still might have to make adjustments slightly. To warm a color balance and the screen will look more yellow to cool and to blue. Seriously and not to demean everyone here but 95 percent of you are going about this totally the wrong way. Put that damn iPhone away that is not the tool for this. LOL

Okay bottom line it will be your eye that counts and if it looks to yellow to you than return the dang thing. I have had 2 max configs since Saturday and both very good screens , slight light falloff but color is good. I posted this on another thread why I returned mine and here is my quote

"If you go with a 1TB they have them in the store , they are not listed anywhere on line but they keep the max. config in store for up selling reasons. I bought one Saturday and replaced it yesterday but had nothing to do with yellow screen or any of that stuff. I had some repair permission issues and turns out my laptop was never registered in Apples own system on production so it could not be seen by there servers and could not be repaired. They had another one in store and it is as good as the first one with great screen and no issues."

Yeah thats what I'm hoping to.
I didnt have much hope that i would get a good unit, but after seeing it, i was pleasantly surprised.
Now i can only hope it looks as good at home as it did in the store.
Its always a bit tricky to see correctly under those super bright store lights.
But i have high hopes, cos like i said, my other rMBP i could see had the yellow tint when i showed it to them in store, but this one i could not.

oh I go it, well yes you can check yourself at the store, good for you... as I say my problem is order online ... and cross my 10 fingers to receive one with no problems, because return is hard to me, so I want wait a little more for see if apple say something about that problem (I dont think that apple say something but...)

Is it faster than the 512GB model? And if so, I wonder why that is? I don't need the 1024GB model, but it would stink to not have as good of speeds.

The 1TB model uses more chips to achieve the greater data capacity, which in turn results in greater speed in storing the data. :)

From the benchmarks I seen its about a 250 r/ w increase over the 512. Not sure you would truly see it but its fun knowing you got about the fastest drive from Apple.
