Just received my 3rd unit and it would appear that for me at-least the 3rd time is the charm.

This display is absolutely perfect. No yellowing at all anywhere, whites are completely uniform across the whole panel as is the back lighting. All the colours look perfect.

The case doesn't creak at all and I'm not hearing any sounds when doing anything intensive with the CPU, GPU or SSD. Seems absolutely perfect.

To really make sure there wasn't any yellowing at all I went in to a completely pitch black room and I could not see any yellow with a white background at all.

It's an LG screen, right? :)

Congrats, I guess the brand doesn't matter as long as the screen is perfect.

Yeah I don't think it matters. My first unit was an LG and had yellowing, the second unit was Samsung and had yellowing. Now this 3rd unit is a Samsung and doesn't have any.

I'm pretty certain it was always the way the glass was being bonded to the rest of the display.

I wonder what percentage of people have bad screens and don't know it? I'm thinking its the majority of new retina Macbook Pro owners.

Nope, it is a Samsung.

LSN when I do the Terminal Command, A022 in Colour Profile.

I guess so!

Good for you and glad to hear it. My second one is a Samsung and perfect as well. My first one a LG was too but it had other issues for my return.

Just love to see this thread die of natural causes with no one experiencing these issues anymore. Good luck everyone and don't settle for something that will just bug you to death looking at it everyday. That would drive me nuts.

I also believe the screen OEM means little here but more on how they are installed . Its just all over the map

This is an excellent point. It may not be the display manufacturers, it may be the way Apple glues their glass to the display. In which case, even more reason to keep returning the units. Apple knows there is an issue and may be fixing it, but still has no problem burning people with defective hardware that is out on the market.

So just received my 2.6/1TB/16GB/750M with a LSN154YL01-A01 screen, and I believe I suffer from a yellow tint problem:

Am I crazy or is a lot of the right side more yellow than the left side?

Also, coming from A MPB 2011 (early, non-retina), am I to expect that it's brighter around the edges? My previous book certainly didn't have that problem.

Folks, if your displays bug you in regular use, return them.

If you're struggling to find problems with them staring at grey bars for hours on end, the chances are your screens are just fine.

Hey congrats, Quu. Mine is going in for display surgery today. Fingers crossed that I get a nice clean one...

And if that's not the case, it will be time to go "Telephone Hulk" on the next Apple rep who tells me they can't have a display checked before they ship it.

Congratulations! How long did it take for your 3rd replacement to arrive -- from the day you requested it to day of delivery? It seems Apple is shipping these much faster. 6 calendar days total?

1st unit - 6 Days
2nd unit - 9 Days
3rd unit - 10 Days

So if anything it's taking longer each order.

cool, so all we have to do to get a good display is return the machine twice and demand an inspected unit.

The good screens are definitely the minority. Apple needs to fix how they're bonding the display together.

I'm going to The Apple retail store Sunday. The 15in. rMBP 2.3/16/512 is now in the store for immediate pickup. Other stores may vary depending on availability and if its in stock. Anything different from that config. has to be ordered. I will explain to the sales rep that my previous MBP was yellow so hopefully he will sell me one chosen from the special secret stash in the back.

Testing mine now. spec'd out 15". Should I exchange it?

Why do you want other people to tell you what to do? You bought your machine and if you see problems then do what you have to. If you don't see anything don't go out of your way just to find the tiniest issue and convince yourself to return it.

Can someone with a reasonable opinion help me out instead of wasting their time writing an innocuous post like what this guy did.

I have no idea, but I reckon it's more than Apple would like and more than the consumer (we) should expect.

It's really a bit of a joke to be honest.

My new "checked" machine arrives today so let's hope I get good news like you and Quu.

Well I got off the chat feature on Apple store, about to order my second 15inch rmbp. The first had yellowing problems on a Samsung display.

The person on the chat was utterly useless. Wasn't aware of the yellow issue until I told her to google it. Kept telling me to use Apple care if the problem happened on my second mac but I told her I wanted them to check the screen BEFORE I got it but she said that's not possible. That's strange because people on this forum have said they got it checked from Apple.

Care to tell me how you did that? I will call 1-800-MY-APPLE if it will help. Is it worth it to call and wait on that number?

Please reply because I am in desperate need of a new computer and want to order it today.

You've gotta go through 2 exchanges first, then they will escalate it to a higher support tier I believe that will personally check your screen prior to being boxed at the factory. (I think I read this in this thread actually)

That's kind of ridiculous how it has to be 2 exchanges. I mean they can save me and themselves the trouble by checking now instead of later. Damn this is so frustrating and makes me lose faith in Apple as a company with high quality products.

Edit: On the phone. Called 1-800- my - apple. Talked to a dude that seemed decent but he wasn't really aware of the issue either so he transferred me to customer relations. The lady at customer relations seemed to sound like a higher level person (if that means anything) and was definitely aware of the issue but told me it is "very rare" and only affects a "very small" number of people. She told me she doesn't have anyone in contact with the factory in China and can't check but I pressed it and am now on hold while she checks if she can do it.
