With regards to the shifting of colours, make sure that's not just a result of your viewing angle. Try looking at same area from a lower height and see if the colour still looks off. A small variance in tone according to your viewing angle is normal.

My first display (Samsung) had no apparent yellow tint but the backlighting was uneven. This was an "M" model from late October.

My replacement, also a Samsung, is a "Q" model from mid-November and is uniform with no yellow tint.

If you decide to exchange your machine, my advice is to try to get a more "factory fresh" model as I have seen fewer complaints about these in general. (But no guarantees, unfortunately.)

Could you post a picture of your screen?

Still my video, please stop at 1:04 and give me your opinion, tomorrow apple control quality will contact me, or return or another one.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hpethtsH2w

Don´t know if i ask for another one or stop for now.

It's really not easy to say from your video, JC. It maybe looks a little bit warm in the bottom but it's very, very minor--at least on the monitor I'm using here at work.

If you find yourself noticing a yellow tint in regular use, it will probably always bother you. But if you can only see it when you're looking for it, I believe the effect may be more psychological than anything else...

Trust me, EVERY consumer-grade IPS display will exhibit some form of flaw or irregularity if you look for it. You could buy 100 and still only find one or two that "look" perfect... and they still wouldn't be perfect.

Ultimately, you may be more comfortable buying a cheaper computer for which it is easier to accept something less than perfection. It's something to consider.

Get it replaced fast. That'll give you another 14 days to inspect the new one. Don't settle for low quality.

I really want to buy a rMBP 15" but is a bit scared if the problems are fixed or not? Can anyone who has recently bought one put some light on this issue?

My first replacement arrived on Friday, and has bad yellow tint on the left bottom corner. Second replacement is arriving tomorrow - third time lucky!

Just curious, MacSumo--does the video jcmendes posted suggest that his screen is of "low quality" to you?

I'm beginning to suspect I may be going blind after all...

Just to confirm the extended holiday returns apply to in-store purchases? I bought mine 5 days ago so will I have until January to return it?

I looked at plenty of rMBP 15" and they all had 1 problem or another.

For a rMBP late 2013, that's the best screen one is able to get right now. It's not good...but it is relatively, the best. His yellows aren't too bad, but there is uniformity issues that are apparent on his screen.

Getting conflicting reports. I was told my return window (online store, Canada) was 30 days from the receipt of my replacement MBP...

I suspect Apple would be somewhat more flexible in general with returns from mid-December onward.

No offense, but you're kinda contradicting yourself a bit... If this display is, "relatively, the best", then why should he bother exchanging it and trying to get a better one?

Because he's not happy, and has only 1 day left on his screen. If he is able to replace it for the same panel that had been manufactured better, he may enjoy his purchase more.

I personally gave up on the rMBP after testing so many. I'll see how well Apple succeeds (or fails) in 2014.

I think trying to replace it today is pointless. Do you think Apple can/will immediately sort through and dump a whole batch of machines just because a few dozen buyers went back and returned/exchanged theirs?

Wait a few more months, then maybe the production quality has improved, or they have refined the stock.

Repeated exchanges this early is a waste of time.

A sober point!

Having a display replaced under warranty several months from now is probably a smarter move than trying to land the 1/1000 "perfect" display from the current production line...

That said, people have been pining for perfect IPS displays for the past 3-4 years already, and production standards and yields don't seem to be improving much. So the Mister Fussypantses among us are probably in for an uphill battle any way you slice it.

(Early reports suggest IGZO displays don't appear to fare much better, either!)

Ok my friends..to finish the last video, from this forum, see left bottom side a little right side...yes bother me.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JErQsBeezAk

I honestly don't see it in that video, JC.

I'll repeat what I said: if it bothers you now, exchange it. If you can live with it, use it for a while and ask for a display replacement later on if you find it's still bothering you.

But bear in mind that you are ultimately focusing on a VERY MINOR issue, and that every display will have a similar issue for you to obsess about. Guaranteed.

I suggest showing your display to someone else in real life--a friend, family member, co-worker--and ask if they see what you are seeing.

And one last thing, this forum is quite possibly THE WORST for tricking your eyes due to all of the soft, subtle shifts in colour from white to violet to light gray... Try looking at other webpages to see if the problem is still apparent.

This! ^ I'm sure that at least in 50-75% of the cases, other people like friends and family will look at the rMBP owners like their crazy.

I'm also sure that if this thread didn't exist for whatever reason, maybe even half of the people that exchanged their rMBP at least once would have just kept the original and didn't notice anything with their screen.

That's simply not true. You continue to post exaggerations and unproven "facts". Personally I believe your posts have an ulterior motive.

My first was like the video but my 2nd screen is better than that. It's nice and even. Others on here have commented they got a good screen. I believe the video has yellowing in the bottom left corner and I wouldn't accept it. I'd return it. That is certainly not the best one can get right now.

It has been my experience that most 15' rMBP's have issues.

It is possible to get a perfect screen though. Took me 5 replacements, but I have one! There is absolutely no yellow whatsoever on my screen. The lighting and temperature are very even, and I cannot see any backlight bleed.

(woops realized i posted this in wrong thread)

picked up 15 in rmbp from Best Buy. fairly uniform warm tint. whites were definitely not very white. also compared to a family member's 2012 15 in retina, my 2008 macbook, my lg g2, and the screen was the 'yellow'ist and tied for the dimmest. slight light bleed around edges. Serial G (first Best buy claimed they didnt have anything later).

went to a different best buy to exchange. They gave me a a serial J laptop, insisting that it had come in today. I explained the screen situation/how i like my chances better with P and Q, etc. to no avail. Got home, opened the computer and it's much yellower than the first.

will go back to and try to exchange again.

I got my 4th unit today and this one has insane yellowing all at the bottom. Worse than all the others I received. This one is so bad that the launchpad icon in the dock isn't even silver it's gold.

Same areas affected, top 50% is perfect with zero problems. Bottom 50% starts to go yellow and around the bottom 30% of the display it's so yellow it's insane.

This was a machine straight from China. The 5th letter in the serial is Q. I don't know what that means but I know some have asked for it.

Needless to say I'm disappointed and I'm giving up. I've requested a refund and will be returning this system. It is obvious to me this problem is extremely widespread and my chances of getting a problem free unit are almost zero.
