I think I will phone in Apple and explain that the 13'' was better in terms of colour vibrancy and white balance and ask if that is normal.

I bet that they start with "sorry sir we dont know anything about that, you are the first human in this earth that report that issue, We have't received any macbook pro return with that issue"

why the pessimism, maybe they'll just acknowledge it and suggest a replacement. which is bummers anyway.

Week? is that month? What are the first 3 numbers in your serial? That'll let us know the factory it was made in, and what month. Maybe Apple IS paying attention and is trying to resolve the issue by the amount of returns.

My serial number starts C02LN. I can't find the chart someone posted to work out what week it was manufactured, but I think it is about the second week of November.

Ah, that's the one I wanted to test.

I tested about 10 or so rMBP that came from the same factory as the one you have. It takes about 2 weeks to reach the factory to a destination, it seems, on average.

The november 2013 batch has some minor improvements relative to previous batches. They may also be including SJE2 displays. Double check your display product number to be sure.

I only tested the top of the line 15" and 13". Issues existed for both, but I tested 15" a lot more, and it had a 100% issue rate.

curious, why you move to top line? I plan buy today the base line... you feel slow? or something, I have in mind that 8gb en ram is enough... and well I dont need more space in ssd... 256gb is good... for the graphics card, Im not a gamer or need edit much video so... I think base line is for me and for the price AND! no yellow tint on base lines! I GO TO BUY RIGHT NOW!!!! :D

but I think that base line or top line is the same... a lotto, some yellows some dont.

HI guys! what do you think of my screen? Fifth letter in the serial number Q. LG screen. On the rigth - 15 rMBP late 2013. On the left - MBA 13 2012. Maximum brightness in both. Сanon S100 camera, settings standard. My screen looks a bit pinky in comparison with MBA. It cannot be seen on the photo. I can't understand as well if it is bright enough.

Shall I exchange it? I'm not very experienced on this subject.

Thanks and sorry for my bad english

You're right, my 1st and replacement have 5th M-it is 1st week of November. It's better to have N or Q (result from 3 forums). cause mine-dim, not enough bright, and replacement is also Lg(SJE1) and dim.
Now i read Quu posts and Q is not perfect also.
Resume: lucky with N or Q batches with Samsung! screen

I will do 3rd replacement on 9th december so will post after. After that if i'll no receive good one will change my mind for 13' retina one.

Good response...fluid...1280 is not bad enough and we have 4 desktops to expand.

I think you should wait longer than then 9th of december...I'm probably going to change mine at the beginning of January (thanks to the extended holiday return) and serial number will probably be R or S...

The way I feel about this (and i need a rMBP for editing) is that it's best to not look for flaws.

If you have it and you don't notice anything when using it as intended, I wouldn't go looking for problems.

I got a top of the line Dell u2711 monitor. But not even that - even though it's hailed as the best commercially available monitor is free from backbleeding and so on. and since all screens are on a hand-to-hand basis, I simply think, that just like with temperatures, that what we have here is just machines that have a chance of having a more visible problem than others. just because some of these pics don't show anything, doesn't mean they still might not all of them (or most of them) have a slightly based yellow hue not detectable by the naked eye.

Maybe I'm crazy, but from the pic, I see the center is far brighter than the edges. I suggest doing an objective test.

its the camera, i person its not like that its fine. I went throughout 5 of them. I know what a bad one looks like. after a while you have to gain some objectivity. at some point you have to ask yourself is it really there, or are you looking for it so hard that as all you can see?

trust me. its perfect.

Just check it after a while again, in my case everything was perfect from the beginning... After two weeks I discovered backlight bleeding and slight yellow tint on the left corner. However It doesn't bother and hardly noticeable, thus I decided to keep my machine.

I totally agree with you, it's sad that such a nice machine has low quality display. I am still holding off and won't buy before this scrap is fixed.
In my case I just use warranty to swap my screen a bit later when bad screens will be out of stock. As for not, in daily use I cannot notice serious drawbacks despite backlight bleeding on black screen, however it is very seldom case when my screen becomes totally black :)

Ok, I have had my Mac book pro with the LG display LP154WT1-SJE1 for three days after returning my previous rMBP with a Samsung because the Sammy was yellow. Here is my final review. As i view this page, The whites are super white as opposed to the Samsung which was a warm yellow. I have to turn the brightness down otherwise my eyes hurt. As far as image retention goes, There is none. The checkerboard test passed. The only IR i see is when i look at type too long, It flashes against the white background for a second. I know this is due to my eyes adjusting. All in all, The LG is a nice screen.

The problem with these tests is that those displays will never match. You cannot assume the mba to be correct. Now if you had some kind of reference grade target, this would work. As it is, this tells you nothing.

That is completely false. It's just one of the best in its price range.
