The iPhone 8 Plus is the best phone ever made

I’m an iPhone user who takes great interest in the latest tech and would happily be trying some of the new features, but the price doesn’t sit right for me. Can I afford it? Yes, I am lucky enough to have a pretty good job, but I simply can’t justify the extra £400 just to try FaceID and OLED. When it boils down to me doing the same standard tasks on every iPhone I own and watching the price creep up every year for something ‘slightly better’, I’ve found I’m much happier buying last years device. I also find away from forums like this the notoriety of owning the latest device is less apparent these days among peers and it’s much more common to see older devices than a few years ago.

The 8+ is like any other iPhone in that it looks good, it’s pretty solidly built and does the same iOS tasks as most modern iPhones. You’re not going to get laughed at for owning one unless you bump into an internet troll and you’ll find they are more popular than you realise.

Sorry but those pants are heinous
I'm 48 years old and I've worn jeans and t-shirts since junior high (1983). Not about to stop now and really don't care what others think. They are comfortable and I like them.

There is no one I am trying to impress with my fashion sense and anyone that WOULD be concerned about it I'm not sure I'd want to know anyway.

Yeah. I'm old and don't care. Sorry.

I prefer notch over bezels. But I do agree that the 8 Plus is a very beautiful and sleek phone.

Ha, ha you’re not old. I don’t care what others think either, though AppleHaterLover was rude. Don’t
have nothing nice to say, keep it to yourself. Someone’s parents didn’t teach them well.

Well dog-gone it you should care... get your some pretty pants son! LOL. I think there are a lot of us folks that don't get into the designer clothes. I wear gym pants 90% of the time when I am off work... I have to wear dress slacks for work, but you can bet I rip them off soon as I walk in the door.

Quit wearing those ugly pants son what is wrong with you... best thing you got going is that nice iPhone in your pocket. hehehe

The 8+ is amazing. I had one before the xs max. It was the best of that version of Iphone ever made. Now I love my Max and have passed down the 8+ to someone that 100% agrees with me on the first part because she appreciates the camera over her 6s.

I started this thread and I'm certainly enjoying the comments so far. One think that strikes me. Face ID is only really about how you access the phone. (Setting aside animojis etc.) It's not an important part of the iPhone experience. Why is it deemed so important? Who cares if it's a fingerprint or facial recognition to access the phone? It's just an alternative way to access. It's a key to unlock the door.

Some people like being able to enter a code on a door, some prefer a key and yet some are doing digital via cellular or WiFi. Which way is impotent to them should not matter to me. I personally don’t care which way one decides to go, but clearly many truly do prefer Face ID to Touch ID. Some are just the opposite and it doesn’t make or break the user experience as it’s just a preference. The importance or lack of is determined by the individual user.

The 8 Plus is the perfected design from the 6 Plus which IMO were the ugliest iPhones Apple made with those antenna lines.

Try to swipe up and right immediately. No delay
You can switch between apps even faster by simply swiping left/right on the home bar. It’s way faster and easier than going through the multitasking screen. In fact really the only time you should ever even be using that screen is that rare occasion when an app freezes and you need to force close it.
Have you tried the multitasking gesture post iOS 12? It’s much easier and more fluid now. Comes as naturally as pressing home twice (I think that’s how to access it - I’ve forgotten already!)
I just tried this out at the Apple store yesterday. It’s definitely much quicker to switch apps than the older iPhones with home buttons. Going to the home screen still takes a bit longer compared to on the iPhones with the home button, but this seems to be a purposeful due to the slight delay between completing the gesture and the prolonged animation. It may be even faster if the reduce motion setting is turned on.

There was a short (very short) period of time when I wore parachute pants. Break dancing and all that, LOL. Only it was white boys trying to look cool on cardboard by spinning themselves stupid. :D

iPhone XS Max is the best iPhone ever made. Soory for folks who can’t afford it.

If you read the opening post or some other threads, you would know that phone isn't for everyone for a multitude of reasons (far from just financial). Some cannot deal with the OLED display without headaches, eye strain, and some don't ever care to have a phone that size and weight.

I just never get this point of view. What makes you think that everyone who chooses to not buy something is simply because of monetary constraints?

It’s a phone that costs only £1100. Not an expensive car or a mansion that average population need to think twice about before buying.

I mean if you actually compare with the upper class of living then even an expensive car or a mansion is not a problem. Value of money is so subjective.

I feel people who bring money into it could barely afford it themselves.

Not understand what’s wrong with my post? I said there are people who like it but can’t afford it. Due to financial problems.

A lot is wrong with it, since you made that statement like its factually the best device for everyone.
That statement implies if people don't purchase the iPhone XS Max phone, it's because they cannot afford to do so. That is untrue. It may be true only for some people.

Coincidentally the flow of discussion prior to your post was highlighting that nobody in this thread had suggested they did not own current iPhones due to financial restrictions. Your post seemed like it was either trolling or badly timed. It sounded like you were being rather patronising by suggesting you ‘feel sorry for those that can’t afford’ an XS Max and maybe you should have added a bit of context to what you said?

Relax Dude.
Yes it’s the best iPhone right now. Everyone who’s into tech knows it. People who like it and desires to have one but can’t afford it outright. Just buy on contract.

Those arguing about who can afford what is childish, when it’s really all preference of what somebody wants out of an iPhone, regardless of what iPhone model. The incessant arguing over someone’s price point what they can justify for an iPhone is frivolous, when its _just a smart phone_, they all essentially do the same thing.

Logical Example:

I think iPhone XS is the best iPhone today, but nor do I expect everybody else to share my views or opinions, it’s just what I appreciate in having the latest tech.

Why do you ‘feel sorry for people’ who ‘can’t afford an iPhone XS Max then if they own it anyway by buying it on contract? Surely the people that don’t own it don’t want it in the first place therefore there’s really nobody to feel sorry for lol. You made an odd statement originally which is why people are asking you questions.

it's not about "relaxing", it's about you not getting it. Some have returned their Max phones and are happier with other devices. For some, they are happiest with it, it depends on the person.

Your opinion is not universally accepted by all sources or people that this is the best iPhone.
Hence, the existence of this very thread as just one person's opinion.
