I will try Weather Underground out once again. Does it have a good widget? I'm mostly using the widgets nowadays instead of opening the app.

For now my favorite is BeWeather 2 although it still can't show minute by minute rainforecast for my country and has that annoying city problem (shows a different city although I select my city).
I have also tried widget weather which has a nice widget although I do wish there were a bit more options to choose + different icons.
The widget has been working pretty good for me, try it out let me know what you think.

No widget though for MyRadar which is unfortunate. If this is the Solar app you are referring to it's also unfortunately lacking a widget and was last updated in 2013. It still works on iOS10?

Though there is no widget for either of them but the apps are good to use and shows the accurate weather updates. Solar is only compatible with iOS 7 yet and so it works perfectly on my iPad. However, you can try Dark Sky which has a smart widget for iOS 10.

Weather Underground the widget is pretty good but I do wish you could reduce the size of certain things e.g. the large green circle and the weather icon of today takes up so much space. I've also noticed the text behind todays weather icon is cut off on my iPhone 5s running the latest iOS10. I would also love to see the option to see the expected percentage + mm of rain for today (per hour) and the upcoming days (mm's, percentage is already there). Currently it also lacks weather details for upcoming days.
I does also cost you 1.99 dollar/euro a year (instead of once 2-4 euro/dollar) though but it's still pretty cheap.

Unfortunately Dark Sky is not available in the Netherlands.

I did found a few other great widgets though that are almost perfect:

- Widget Weather by Trond Rossvoll - 1.99 dollar once
+ very nice UI
+ lots of widget options to select from
+ can set to not use GPS (saves battery usage)
+ shows today + 7 days ahead in widget
+ can choose between two forecast agencies
+ can show small rain bar for upcoming hours although not per minute like e.g. Dark Sky - US only or e.g. Buienalarm widget - NL only)
+ you can set the update interval
- lacks showing percentage of rain expected (the chance of rain) for upcoming hours/days in widget. It does show mm though for upcoming hours and days which is great :)
- lacks minute by minute rainforecast
- awfull app icon + they definitely should switch to another set of Climacons icons which looks much more modern and nice.

Classic view (my favorite, with Climacons icons):
DTN1XW.png

Modern view (with Climacons icons):
tzwih2.png

- Simple Weather Widget free, for detailed view in-app 3.99 usd/eur (once)
+ very nice UI
+ takes less space in widget but shows much info
- small icons on iPhone 5s/iPad mini2 not sure how it looks on other larger devices
- lacks rain mm in widget (only percentage of rain)
- lacks minute by minute rainforecast
- some things you can't hide (not much options)

8LneYm.png

- Weather Live - free (with ads) or 3.99 dollar once
+ very nice UI
- lacks rain mm in widget
- lacks percentage of rain expected for upcoming hours/days in widget
- lacks minute by minute rainforecast

hoPQMp.png

- BeWeather 2 - 2.99 dollar once
+ very nice UI
+ lots of widget options to select from
+ shows mm rain and chance of rain percentage which is great
+ you can switch between locations in widget
- only 3 days ahead in widget
- minute by minute rainforecast available in select countries
- isn't accurate with showing correct city

nR8sM0.png

- Partly Sunny - 2.99 dollar once
+ very nice UI
+ shows rain percentage + mm
- takes up a lot of space without data on it in Notification Center
- minute by minute rainforecast available in select countries only (US/UK)

Partly_Sunny.png

- Crisp Weather widget - 0.99 dollar (once)
+ nice UI
+ you can change the size of the widget, timeline part of it
+ you can choose if it uses GPS or not
+ cheap
+/- has minute by minute rain bar but only for select amount of coutries
- the settings for showing both upcoming hours so e.g. from now untill 0.00 today + 7 days can only be seen when tapping on the widget. I tapped both 24 + 7 days in the app setting. You can't see both of them in the widget at the same time.
- lacks mm rain
- limited amount of (widget) settings

Crisp_Weather_Widget.png

- Weather Line - 2.99 dollar (once)
+ nice UI
+ doesn't need GPS to use it
+ shows a lot of details per hour/day also rain chance percentage but you have to press the day for it
+/- has minute by minute rain bar but only for select amount of coutries
- lacks mm rain or cm of snow, only percentage change (and in order to see it you have to press the day or hour for it which is an extra step)
- I would love to see an option for permanently showing the mm rain / rain percentage chance for upcoming hours + per day for upcoming days instead of selecting the day to see it
- the settings for showing both upcoming hours so e.g. from now untill 0.00 today + 7 days wasn't working for me can you do that? I tapped both 24 + 7 days

Weather_Line.png

- Dark Sky - 3.99 dollar once (app only available in US/UK/Ireland)
+ nice UI
- takes up a lot of space without data on it in Notification Center
- only available in some countries

Dark_Sky_widget.png

- Atmos - 2.99 dollar once
JSSOU3.png

+ slick UI
- minute by minute rainforecast is limited to a few countries

- Weather 14 Days - free (with ads), 2.99 dollar (without)
3AyGm6.png

+ nice UI
- lacks mm or rain percentage for upcoming days
- takes up a lot of space without data on it in Notification Center

- CARROT Weather - 3.99 dollar (once) + subscription is $2.49/yr USD
+ nice UI
- doesn't show rain mm or percentage
- subscription service

Carrot_Weather.png

- Forecast Bar - free, but with monthly subscription of $2.99/yr or $4.99/yr USD
+ lot's of detailed customizable widget info
- takes up a lot of space without data on it in Notification Center
- subscription service

Forecast_Bar.png

AccuWeather (free, remove ads 3.99 dollar once)
+ has some sort of minute by minute rain forecast for United States, Canada, Sweden, Denmark, United Kingdom, Ireland, Japan, France, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands, Luxembourg
- use to much space, too big icons in my opinion
- lacks % or mm rain per hour/day
- lacks weekly (7 days) forecast

Accu_Weather_widget.png

Weather Underground (free, ad-free costs 1.99 dollar a year)
+ has some sort of minute by minute rain forecast (also outside of US so it seems)
+/- has another radar widget but I would love to see that integrated in the same widget
- use to much space, too big icons in my opinion
- lacks % or mm rain per hour/day
- lacks weekly (7 days) forecast, it did have this feature but no longer shows it

Weather_Underground_widget.png

Weather Forecast / Live Weather (free, 1.99 dollar to remove ads once)
+ nice UI
- lacks minute by minute rainforecast
- too much unused space/margin between info
- lacks % or mm rain per hour/day

Live_Weather_widget.png

Yandex Weather (free)
+ nice UI
- lacks minute by minute rainforecast
+/- lacks minute by minute rainforecast (only Russia)
- too much unused space/margin between info
- lacks % or mm rain per hour/day

Yandex_Weather_widget.png

Weather Nerd (3.99 dollar once + 3.99 dollar per year subscription)
+/- has various widgets (Day, Week, Hour), I would rather see one widget and choose in settings what you want to see
+/- minute by minute rain forecast (limited to certain countries)
- the widget take up a lot of space, these should really be able to be smaller
- lacks mm of rain per hour/day

You are very welcome guys :) It's always great that people appreciate feedback/tips.

I would love to know what you can all show with the Living Earth and Fresh Air widgets. Can it show rain % and/or mm of rain in the widget and a forecast per hour and the upcoming days?
I already bought quite some weather apps/widgets so I will now keep my hand on my pocket.

@pacorob , you should try WeatherPro (free or paid version) widget as well.

About Fresh Air and other weather apps you using, do you need to have the location on all the time for it to work?

Both Living Earth and Fresh Air widgets are too basic compared to Widget Weather you mentioned above which can show a graph or detailed forecast. I usually check weather only a few times in a day, so don't keep it on the widget..just open the app when needed. Otherwise launching the widget screen triggers location services even if you just want to open a launcher or something else.

Also FreshAir widget requires Location services enabled even when you have favorite locations saved.

Not all weather widgets need GPS to refresh but only internet. In some cases you can also select the update interval (to save GPS/internet) For example:

- widget weather - can turn off GPS use and update interval can be set (15 min > 48 hours or manual update - double tap)
- Weather Live - can turn off GPS use and select city, update interval can't be changed though
- Simple weather widget - can turn off GPS use and select city, update interval can't be changed though

I believe other widgets that I mentioned can also work without GPS.

Not sure what you mean, but I like the widgets the way they are.
iOS 10 has a somewhat different style to the widgets and additional functionality of having a non-expanded and expanded widget that can show more. The ones that haven't been updated kind of stick out among the ones that have been.

Oh okay. However in the BeWeather2 app itself your able to do that in settings somewhat. I would still leave it the way it is, I like that set up and even with the newer widgets I find myself leaving some with "show more" rather than to keep switching back and forth....to each there own. BeWeather2 widget functionality was and is still ahead of others in my honest opinion. You can basically set up the widget just the way you want. IMHO, BeWeather2 is still the best customizable weather app on the market.

Perhaps having options to use the new style or the old style would do the trick.

Considering how much junk is probably in the air, should you trust the weather data coming from a landfill's weather station? o_O

In BeWeather's case, they'd probably have two sections in the app that would allow us to customize both the less and more options of the widget. The way I'd set it up (on mine) is that I'd have the weather alerts strip, hourly, and then the precipitation chart when you'd press show more.

Even though I use the "landfills" weather data, it's the nearest one to me...I live in the extreme suburbs (some say country). I could use a different one, but it's actually to far and would be less accurate. Not to mention it's no longer an active landfill. I do believe that in my many years on earth I can figure that out.

It would still be good though to see more days in the widget as well like widget weather does (also not updated to iOS10 widget style with 'show more' and that one lacks the rain percentage change). Widget Weather can also customise a lot as well like BeWeather2.

I am still on the native weather app  is there any app that could change the home screen matching the weather outside? That would be cool to have.
