Why are people doing this when it seems to cause a lot of bricks, ringtones not working, location(google) not working, etc.....

I want to jailbreak, but I want all my phone functions to work. Any way to fix them yet?

Just done it, works perfectly.

My iphone:
Imported US 4GB, unlocked with iPhoneSimFree.
Jailbroken 1.1.2, activated
Several homebrew apps installed (including MobileScrobler)

Nate Trus app ran perfectly on Windows Vista x86
I had to hit refresh sources in installer to get the 1.1.3 soft upgrade
The soft upgrade said that there was a script error.
After OKing this message, i restarted the phone and 1.1.3 was installed, and activated, running on O2 (UK)

ALL 3rd party apps were remoed from the home screen (bar installer)
ALL 3rd party apps installed remained in the installer uninstall menu

on attempting a reinstall of Mobile scrobbler, i got a message stating that it was for 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 only

Attmpted to install other applications (Multitouch) which installed without problem.

New google maps software appears to be present, although not worked thus far. :)

One last important note, Safari will not allow you to import new sources anymore, it just parses the XML

EDIT: Does anyone know where nate stored the 1.1.3 firmware? I just realised that it failed to delete it, i now have a gaping HUGE 300mb file on my tiny 4gb iphone :(

ringtone fix

ive went thought the whole jailbraking process and the ringtones dont work is there a fix out there?
thanks

My upgrade got to the final stage before showing me the connect to iTunes icon and then nothing. Since then, I've restored to 1.1.3, and back to 1.1.1 but now I'm stuck.

Is there a way around the "No SIM card installed. Insert an unlocked and valid SIM to activate iPhone"? It says this if I put in the original AT&T SIM or any of my other SIMs.

The phone was a US 1.1.1 unlocked with AnySIM and jailbroken. I'm guessing it's bricked for the moment.

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough in my post.. you DO NOT want to upgrade your baseband if you have an unlocked phone!! You'll need to downgrade your baseband with bbupdater to get the phone working again; follow the step 3 I instructed you not to follow earlier ;)

Yes, it's a folder called "softupdate" I think. It's in /var/root/Media/. You can delete it.

Thanks man, i've now deleted this using iPhoneBrowser 1.2 - i now have my 300mb back =)

Just waiting for apps (mobilescrobbler!!) to get updated for 1.1.3 and i'll be happy.

Well done to everyone involved in making this jailbreak possible:cool:

I have tried many times to downgrade my iphone so I can re jailbreak it after updating to 1.1.3. My iphone is not unlocked. I succumbed to o2.

However, when I try to downgrade my firmware I get an error 1, saying my iphone can not be restored. I get the same with 1.0.2 1.1.1 and 1.1.2. Has anyone got any ideas. I have tried to downgrade with iTunes 7.6 and 7.5.

i upgraded to 1.1.3, but all my apps have disappeared on the springboard (except the apple ones), but installer still says i have the apps on my phone, i can't use ssh because i can't get it to turn on, and i can't uninstall and reinstall ssh because it says main script error or something like that. What can i do?

did you not read the 3 sentences full of exclamations saying DON'T do this procedure on an unlocked phone?

Seems like a major waste of time just to get a buggy phone. After every upgrade more problems and bricks occur. What a mess.

To be fair, I added this after he attempted my method.. The wording I had in there before was a bit more vague.

Ok, now what? Network not Available

I first did a jb on my phone to 1.1.3 and everything worked ok except locate me. I then followed the instructions to downgrade, then upgrade to 1.1.3 to get the new baseband. I then downgraded to 1.1.1 then did the jb. After that I used nate's procedure again to jb up to 1.1.3. Everything worked ok, but now I have v1.1.3, Installer.app, but I have to Carrier. It shows Network Unavailable. It did not ask me to activate this last time. I have a 'locked' AT&T phone and account so I am not trying to unlock it. v1.1.3 (4A93) with Modem Firmware 04.03.13_G.

Is there anything I can do to force it to activate with itunes?

none of the ringers work. Not even the default ones.

Weird, all of my ringers work, and I keep making more and putting them on there and they work fine. I can turn edge on/off, and it's software unlocked and that stayed. I don't know what's going on with some of these iPhones

? It doesn't touch the baseband so it doesn't matter. I did this yesterday afternoon and it worked fine on my 1.1.2 AnySim 1.1.2u unlocked iPhone, so don't spread fud here. Especially if you haven't even done it yourself!

He was responding to my procedure which DOES update the baseband.

no icon!??

Tried the jailbreak and it said "iBrickrs job is done" now I have no icon to soft upgrade and I have 1.1.3?!

Wow, lots of problems and it appears that people would prefer to have wobbly icons instead of actually hearing the phone ring. This jailbreak has increased my satisfaction with 1.1.2.

iPhone Firmware 1.1.3: Tested on Humans.

For all those people having problems with custom ringtones. You need to remove them. Then you need to sync your phone. Then you need to re-add them in itunes and sync from itunes to your phone. I have a fully working 1.1.3 iphone which was previously unlocked with ipsf on rogers and jailbreaked using this method. ...well fully working save google maps locate me & hybrid function.
I also have working custom ringtones. anyone encountering the duplicates bug for custom ringtones, there is a thread on apple support to fix this.
